    I totally agree on the point about the fuel calculator. I think the games should have like a built in "race engineer" that will give you a basic setup specific for the race plus calculate fuel if you want to just hop in and do a quick sprint and don't want to spend time on setup. Obviously if you don't want to use it you can choose to do it all yourself to your specs as well.

      I think one of the biggest things that hurts people's impressions of AMS2 is the stock setups. Most of the ones I've played with are somewhere between "a little off" and "terrible". They need to do like iRacing did; hire someone to create a selection of setups for each car. We don't even need one for each track, just high/medium/low downforce would be great.

    • @inebium
      @inebium 7 месяцев назад +4

      I agree, all the games should have that, at least for the fuel and tyre temperatures. In ACC who didn't put the fuel for quali and then forgot to put the fuel when it's time for the race. The driver is not the one deciding how many liters to put in the tank.

      Take the time to learn, this is a hobby after all. If everything comes easy, I wouldn't be here, I would be long gone.
      To easy things a bit, I use my own formula in Sim hub to get fuel (and refuel) calculations done for me, but the formula is my own achievement (race time + 2 laps worth of fuel). This formula/information is valid for all sim I use.

    • @Bambeakz
      @Bambeakz 4 месяца назад +1

      @@jopereiraptMy hobby is playing race simulators. Not mechanic or race engineer simulator. Do you really think race drivers do that irl?

    • @jopereirapt
      @jopereirapt 4 месяца назад

      @@Bambeakz So, why do you think EVERY sim has those options? And yes, drivers do need to understand what the car is doing and speak to engineers who know how to get it done. They don't just seat and drive.
      If your hobby is only part of a whole, fine. It's your choice after all.

    That battle you had with the McLaren shows me all I need to see about the improvements to the AI. You had to fight for it and it didn't just nudge out of the way when you came to him a few times. Trading paint is expected when the AI's aggression is at maximum. You didn't mention the aggression level but I'm assuming it was maxed seeing the McLaren made you work for that pass.
    And yes, I find myself looking over the hood all the time (or bonnet for those across the pond) but for good reason: with a VR headset you literally can do it, whether you intend to or not, it's just so natural. And soon plan to do that too with the IR set up that I haven't installed since getting my rig ready. So yeah, racing on a single monitor just doesn't cut it as far as realism goes.

    interesting. I will have to try the GT3 cars in AMS 2. I have been doing ACC and really like the feel of the GT3 cars in that game - seems easy for me to drive.

    Thank you for the comparison. Idk if i am pushing the goal post of AI to what is an unrealistic human like level, but once i noticed that the AI always brake early and has a really good corner exit, it kind of trivialised any overtake.
    But they seem to do okay in multiclass, if the slower class wouldnt slow down so unnecessarily much

    Great video Mike! Enjoyed the commentary as always. I always find it quite hard to talk and race at the same time. Agree on the fuel point. Fuel should be calculated and maybe use a plus 5 liter margin. Also, I was interested in what your usual setup is when you're not reviewing new products. Is it still the Moza R16? And which wheel and pedals are you using?

      Thanks so much. And yes, it’s the R16. That wheelbase continues to blow my mind. As far as pedals, I’ve gone back to my Heusinkveld Sprints, because my SimForge pedals were creating a USB conflict with a product I am reviewing.

    It does show you on the setup screen how many laps your fuel load will let you run. I have race length set by laps rather than time so it’s really easy to set. The AI slowing under Blue flags needs a tweak but the overall behaviour seems good.
