I thought similarly last year at RG where Stefanos looks tired in tough matches way too early. He's a heck of an athlete and I have to believe he works on his fitness so I'm confused.
Well yesterday he didn't look fresh at all,he was slow to the ball and not committing everything to the shot....it may have been tension or the stress of the occasion, which does make you uncertain and it can affect even the best players...but a fit, fresh Tsitsipas on clay is hard to beat.....saying that Novak has a way of making even the best players look average.
@Rafa Undisputed goat Rafa moves at 2/3 the speed of his prime. It's amazing he competes so well without footspeed anymore. Still, I won't count him out in France.
ur a fanboi. Nadal has 21 against fed and djoker always in the lineup, and an injured foot. Djoker is a douche who loses his temper and is arrogant, which is why YOU like him, you’re the same lmfao.
This is a reminder for those who are afraid of standing for your principles. This guy was persecuted for a personal decision and people were even gaslighting him saying he was never going to play. Now look at him thriving and succeeding with his body autonomy intact.
Unless Rafa stages a miracle "comeback to form" at Roland Garros, the only one who can potentially stop this Djokovic is Alcaraz. Who hasn't been, vetted yet enough in best of 5. In addition to Rafa, only Alcaraz has the consistent brute power to penetrate the almost impregnable defense of Djokovic. The other guy who can potentially do it, Wawrinka, but he's nowhere near his 2015 form. Of course on Djokers bad day, Tsitsipas, Ruud or even Zverev can take him down. So right now it's Nole for the RG title.
True. It's got to be between Novak or Alcaraz. Rafa is too beaten down and with injury concerns, I'll be suprised if he even makes it to the final. Alcaraz has the game and the mindset to beat Novak, but can he do it over 5 sets. That's the big question.
I wouldn’t say the only one, Medvedev is extremely good, Ruud in clay is dangerous, Zverev won over Djokovic in the Olympics, FAA is increasingly getting better against Novak and Hurzsack is also very good on clay.
@@Smileater Medvedev??? You must be kidding me. He absolutely hates the surface and he might be out in the first round itself. Ruud, Zverev, FAA can be beat Novak...if he's playing at 50% 🙂. Otherwise no chance, especially at RG. The only potential threat on paper is Alcaraz and a fit Nadal.
No one could have imagined this level of Novak during this period but he has managed to shatter those hearsays, rumours and perceptions whoever told something regarding himself. He had just inadequent tourneys and tournaments in this season. The rapid revival of Novak intimidated the other adversaries and opponents before the Roland Garros. It is entirely unimaginable to see the swift comeback of Novak with this calibre. From where to where, smoothly reaching the pinnacle, maintaining the consistency within this process. We must definitely be proud of himself. Congratulazioni per il sesto campeonato in Roma!
When Nole beats Alcatraz @ RG, I will become happy. I wish and pray Nole to fade away from tennis 🎾 after winning 25 GS. No one can remain forever # 1. IDEMO.
The king is back 🙌🏾 Kinda dope how both world number ones on the males and females side won the Rome title this year. They’re really asserting themselves as being the top contenders at the moment.
You have tennis players that stay their whole career in future or challenger tour and on the other hand you find player(s) that stick decades in the top 3.... Go figure out... How can someone be that consistent ? it's blowing my mind, knowing how the game of tennis can get into someone nerves (I mean even Fish had to retire because of the pressure and stress acting up on his heart..). But this guy still has the passion, the motivation, the focus, the strength ! When I was a junior playing tournaments, I remember that the most difficult after winning matches was not the physical, but the mental aspect. One match would take a toll on my mental strength. I was struggling big time to give my hardest every single round because overtime my mental was getting drained. Yes that's ridiculous, it was just junior... But to think someone can overcome this at ATP top level with camera + media + pressure + full stadium for decades... I think some people have a very very hight tolerance for stress, fear, risk, pressure. It's not about talent anymore with the racket in hands. I understood really early that I could not handle pressure while other people were barely "feeling" anything. To me that's insane !
Let's just wait and see if Novak can maintain this level for RG before jinxing it. If Novak can, he should play the upcoming Belgrade tournament just to get a bit more match practice.
Tsitsipas lacks a lot of agressiveness in his game, especially in his backhand. Sometimes it feels to me like he is just sending the ball to the other side of the net and relying on his opponent to miss. Because of that, he has problems when he faces very solid guys like Djokovic.
His back hand is so comically bad that he cant get aggressive with it.. Its all he can do to just try not to shank it out. Good players are just hitting to it.. Not even hard shots they know eventually he will create a UE... just keep burying him with it
He has a nice one handed backhand but not usually an offensive flat shot like Stan’s. Can’t hurt Djoko with it. Stan hot or cold goes for it. Tsitsipas a little more passive. That’s fine against a lot of players. Let’s face it Tsitspas has had a fine clay court season . But against Djoko not good enough.
@@darlaevitts3459 His backhand is probably the worst of the top 50.. A total liability. Everyone juts hits to it and eventually its a UE. Sorry but I dont see it as "nice", at times its comical.
It's amazing that Tsitsipas has his career-best Masters 1000 season this year, when in my opinion he's in the poorest form since his breakthrough 2018 season. He made the final despite playing poorly the whole week (actually, the whole year). I don't think I've ever seen a player with so many timing problems on his groundstrokes, struggling to hit them cleanly. His backhand appears to be in the worst shape in his career.
Last year is the best, the first half. Now he is jot as fit as last year, since he had pains in second half of last year, injury and surgery, and he has recovered most but not fully. Also all those did not allow to improve on last year.
You have a lot of right. On the other hand his serve is much better than it used to be and this helps him significantly now (otherwise his results would be much worse). I have feeling that over last 1,5 years his tennis lost variety, patience and became much more ordinary. It seems that someone convinced him that his tennis should be 1-3 shots with focus on serve and forehand and quick resolution. Maybe it helps with mid players but not with the best. The other big point is his slice which is not developed really. The defensive slice is on amateur level, probably worst in top 100. He is exposing himself on this side way too much. I'm just curious if Mouratoglou is aware of this and if they work on this (can't see the results so far). To be on the very top the player can not have such big holes in baseline play.
@@konradtomala3580 I think they are aware of his poor slice technique, every commentator keeps mentioning it in every match he plays, plus there was a video of him practising the slice with Mouratoglou, who shows him how it should be done. Unfortunately, as you say, the result cannot be seen at all. I think a lot of it has to do with the (lack of) natural talent. His groundstrokes in general feel a bit clumsy and heavy-handed.
Just that one comment says it all: "He is back". Clearly the top favorite for RG this year. Only thing he needs to work on are his backhands down the line, they tend to direct towards the middle instead of parallel or outwards, this will make life a lot more difficult for his opponents after pinning them down in their backhand corners.
Tsitsipas really has to improve his backhand a lot. By a mile actually. Against players of the highest calibre like Novak that soft backhand with no deep penetration and speed simply won't do. He has a very good game overall but he'll have to start purchasing winners out of his backhand else it'll be like Federer's problem in his mid career.
Right move Novak, on not taking the JAB. Nadal is screwed right now, no titles on clay since he complained about chest pains during his tournament in the US. possibly having myocarditis.
Only played two tournaments this year before clay season. Lost early in those tourneys. Then couple of clay tournaments, didn't win any of those. But, in Rome he looked formidable and suddenly becomes huge favourite for the RG. I am a Federer fan but this is purely GOAT stuff. If Alcaraz continues his form to best of 5 matches then Nole, Alcaraz, Zverev, Tsitsipas are the possible semifinalists for RG. Hopefully, they don't mess with the draw.😆
Zverev y Tsitsipas NO. Son muy inestables, un buen Ruud los barrería. En mi opinión un poco sobrevalorados, deben ponerse las pilas si quieren pelear por grand slams

Novak officially slammed the door on both Rogers and Rafas last chance to be considered the GOAT when he beat Roger at 2019 Wimbledon and Rafa at 2021 Rolland Garros.
The media and the billion dollar sponsors have pushed the narrative for 15 years that when it came to the GOAT….
Roger was the chosen one
Rafa was the hopeful one.
However, against all odds Novak is really the only one.
Despite all of the above information some people will still insist that either Roger or Rafa are still the GOAT by foolish arguments that Rogers game is more graceful or Rafa is more popular.
Well, this isn’t a popularity or beauty contest. It is simply a matter of looking all the major relevant information to determine who really is the best of all time.

Still few things to improve like closing out sets on serve when he has a big lead over his opponent but other than that nole looks pretty much unbeatable, it will take someone with a massive physical and mental strength willing to go through 5 long sets to beat this version of novak, maybe alcaraz? Given all the hype that has been building around him I expect nothing less than him in the final if he doesn't face djokovic before

@Rafa Undisputed goat Indeed...
Amazing first set from Novak and great grit to get back into the second. Congrats!
Well done Novak! Thanks for standing firm on your beliefs and following the science.
And rubbing Tsitsipas' face in the Roman clay in the process.
The freedom fighter wins at the end.
👍👍👍
I was at the match and kudos to Tsitsipas for hanging in as he already looked tired during the knock up and was half a step late for most of the match.......Djokovic played well and was always controlling the rallies even when he was behind in the second set.Would have liked to have seen a deciding set,but there was only going to be one winner and that was Novak.
Totally agree
I thought similarly last year at RG where Stefanos looks tired in tough matches way too early. He's a heck of an athlete and I have to believe he works on his fitness so I'm confused.
Well yesterday he didn't look fresh at all,he was slow to the ball and not committing everything to the shot....it may have been tension or the stress of the occasion, which does make you uncertain and it can affect even the best players...but a fit, fresh Tsitsipas on clay is hard to beat.....saying that Novak has a way of making even the best players look average.
He's assured 373 weeks. Most weeks than anybody : difference with no. 2: 63 weeks. Biggest difference among any 2 players that were no. 1.
The 500-week limit won't be a problem for him

What a 2nd set!congrats Novak!!! Well deserved
Djokovic, Magnifico!!! #1!!!
Thanks for not spoiling the outcome on the thumbnail !
I agree 100%
True.
Yes! Great for Novak! He needed this win and happy for him But so much talent now in top 5 that it is going to be tough in Paris.
He has got something more, something that top 5 still miss.
Novak Djokovic , the Titan of tennis ! The greatest tennis player of all time ! simply magnificent !

I love this "Djoko...Djokovic!", when Nole wins the game 🤣
Djoko means game in italian ...so in italian ears his name is gameovic
Stef hit too many short shots. Never really pushed Dj off of the baseline. It’s hard to win when that happens.
@Rafa Undisputed goat Are you daydreaming?? 🤣🤣🤣 Please kindly prepare your "injury" excuse for him.
Tsitsipas backhand is trash!! He needs to learn from wawrinka or Thiem

Federer at Wimbledon? Sorry, only a wet dream ...
Rafa won 22 🏆
He is back!!👑👑🎉🎉

Too much topspin in his groundstrokes..
@@darlaevitts3459 His backhand is probably the worst of the top 50.. A total liability. Everyone juts hits to it and eventually its a UE. Sorry but I dont see it as "nice", at times its comical.
Djokovic solid guy? Lol
I noticed his backhand was working awesome until the finale he played against Novak where we saw him missing so much.
How he managed to win that 2nd set... impossible
I was also impressed
Good old one handed backhand weakness problem
Novak is back!!!!!Love from greece!!!!
Right move Novak, on not taking the JAB. Nadal is screwed right now, no titles on clay since he complained about chest pains during his tournament in the US. possibly having myocarditis.
So pissed Novak let Nadal off the hook in Paris,.He wipes Nadal's azz on all the more popular surfaces
Djokovic is back!!!! Go Ahead Roland Garros!!
Too happy for Novak but at the same time sad for tsitsipas as he lost yet another finals....
Otro título más para el mejor de la Historia!
Tsitsipas has a beautiful but inoffensive backhand.
Exactly…
I find this comment inoffensive.
It seems to be worse than it was a few years ago. I'd like to see him get it back to fully operational!
that's the world's no 1, in the second set his opponent led 5-2 then he made a tiebreak and win, novak djokovic
Novak is living in his head rent free after the colossal choke by Tsitsipas in the FO final last year.
1:11, jeez is he getting electrified?
The one handed backhand is a relative weakness in the modern game.
