This may be the most helpful DIY video I have ever watched. Presenting the problem and then real-time troubleshooting was an invaluable format. Excellent work on this, I learned so much about not only pump sprayers but the troubleshooting process.
I just went through your steps. Success! So thankful, as you saved me 20 bucks and the sprayer didn’t end up in the landfill or better yet -recycled. 3:11
Thank you for this how-to video! Thanks to you, I was able to take my sprayer apart and clear some blockages. Mine doesn't come apart to where you can get to the washer and green parts --there's a spring in the way. That was far enough though!
Thanks for doing this. Very well done. I had the same problem with a recently purchased Oregon backpack sprayer. I tried everything you did but ended up buying a new wand (they don't sell the trigger on its own). Won't be buying any more Oregon products.
Loved the video. Very step by step. However, although my round up sprayer looks like yours for every other part, instead of a push handle valve, I have a push button trigger which no longer pushes down. So my problem is nothing coming out. Have pressure, cleaned everything else. There is no apparent way to get to the inside for cleaning as you did. I am sure it is a spring function. I can pull it off of the hose coming from tank, very hard to do, and I can remove the wand. That seems to be it. Any ideas? Can not find a replacement part other than the push lever, rather than push button
You video has me batting 500. My first ACE sprayer has a clogged screen on the stiff hose that goes into the tank. It was so clogged that you couldn't even tell it had holes!!!! Used hot water in the sink and a small wire and cleaned out all the holes, now it works great!!!! The second Ace sprayer had no clogging issues, but under pressure water was shooting out several places on the handle. Couldn't tell exactly where. Suggestions????
You need a set of small round nylon bristle cleaning brushes, they usually come with paint sprayers. Put some heat proof grease on the green stem also.
Yes!!! Aside from the secada background music, it's such a helpful video. Just what I was looking for! Thank goodness I found you before I trashed my sprayer 👍🏼
I was wondering if a piper cleaner or drinking straw brush might be useful in dislodging whatever is in the connector if one does not have pressurized air? Also I was surprised by how many parts there are to this tool! And people wonder why their spouses take so long doing a simple outdoor task. "Well honey, it all started with a non-functioning sprayer...."
I stuck my clogged sprayer nozzle and wand in a bucket of warm/hot water and swished it around. It must have dissolved the gunk that was clogging it because it worked! It was fast and simple.
Where can you get a new pump for a funnel top. I have an old sears stainless steel 2gal with pump that has metal shaft and handle going down in the pump that has rusted
This is my first time using a garden sprayer. It's brand new and I've followed all instructions and nothing. I have to say this video went over a dozen or so kind of pain in the ass suggestions for fixing it. Seems like a lot of work. I'm half tempted just to dump the contents over the concrete sidewalk I'm trying to clean. Or just buy the cleaner that hooks directly up to the hose. Seems to be easier than all of this. Not a big fan of garden sprayers early in the going, that's for sure.
I hadn't used mine for a while. Filled it up today and it worked properly for 30 seconds. Then after I pumped it up again to get pressure. the liquid inside came up through the top of the cannister and overflowed. What could be the problem? Thnx. Brian.
I haven't had that problem but I would have to assume there is an failed seal somewhere in the canister. I've never taken one apart so I can't offer any advice on how to troubleshoot the issue.
@@donnatarvis2073 HI again - Sorry about that.. I can't recall the entire process but I took the whole pump apart and cleaned the rubber "o" ring, etc. really well and then it worked perfectly. Good Luck - PS If I find a short video on it I'll forward you the link. Brian.
@@northgeorgiaclearing6982 I think I found the problem. The tip of the wand under the nut has 4 small holes that were partially clogged. I cleaned those out and it is spraying much better now. Thank you!
I came on here looking for help regarding my HDX cheapo sprayer. Took mine totally apart and found that the seals inside the pump rotted away after just two applications of white vinegar as a weed killer. Went back to Home Depot and paid $10 more for the Scott's sprayer. So far works much much better. You get what you pay for.
My conclusion is (what do I want for $10.00?) that these things are crap. I'm buying an electric diaphragm pump and a bucket until I figure out that they are crap. Thank you I'm taking my handle apart.

Thank you so much. New homeowner here. Bought tool but didn't take care of them. Follow your video and unclogg my pump sprayer. Such a great help!
I’m very happy that worked for you!
Good input from the videographer on the compressed air!
I took apart everything but the trigger assembly and couldn't figure it out. Then I saw you take the trigger off and I had success! Thanks!
That's great to hear!
This was great. Showed REAL issues and real solutions. I HATE those hand pumps cause they always clog...
Thanks for this video. I had a block at the valve you showed around 8 minutes in. I had no idea that part even came apart. Boy was that dirty!

That is frustrating. It seems like more and more products are being designed to be disposable.
Thank you so much!!!!! Your shared knowledge is a blessing to all of us. 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿👍
Thanks for this very informative video! I wondered what that knob on the bottom of the trigger handle was for and came here to find out.
You mentioned preparing a home-made weedkiller. What are the ingredients and proportions please.

@@northgeorgiaclearing6982hey when you are pumping up your sprayer, should you hear air pressure when you are spraying?
Smart wife my friend, thank you for making this video
yes, he could have said - good idea honey- or something
Just used this video to fix my sprayer! Thanks! You're awesome!

I was able 2 clean mine as per your recommendations. Is working very well now. U save me some 🤑👩🏽⚖️💰 TY so much.
Can't get mine to pressure up. while pumping.....any suggestions
Thank you. My confidence is intact. Ready to work!

I don't know where you'd find that.
I knew there was a way to save my sprayer. You did it! Thanks.
Just what I needed. I spray insecticides around my house with my pump sprayer and it gunked up. Doing this later today.
You cannot store roundup in those containers. It'll degrade the inside and you get those little white flakes from the inside. Clean after EVERY use.
You are right about that. It's some nasty stuff.

Take it back to store with receipt
What’s all the background noise?
I think there is an alien spaceship landing.

What if the chemical is coming out where you pump it from the black pump.
I would guess you’ve got a bad o ring but I haven’t taken one apart to that level.
Great video very informative! Thank you.
I can get water to come out in a stream, but when I snug up the nut on the wand, it won't spray. It just stops altogether. Any ideas?
I’m not sure about that one. Are you tightening the nut at the tip?

i am missing the spring in the handle
Thanks! Got me going again.
I'm really happy I could help.
It really does pay to treat your tools properly. Otherwise.... You must have contraptions to fix the contraptions. 😵💫
What if u don't have an air compressor?
I'm not sure other than trying those key board cleaner spray cans.
Mine won't pump up any pressure

Yeah I got a new sprayer and I'm sure I have the same problem
Thanks for your help.
There's a plastic pin in the leaver that slides out.
That’s good to know, thank you!
Very helpful, Thank you

thank you alot,it worked for us

Great video Tom Hanks🤣
Thank you, just the info I needed! And thanks for not saying” like and subscribe” at the end like everyone else does, so annoying….. lol
I’m glad I could help.
Thank you that Home Depot video sucked
My switch doesn’t shut off
Try taking it apart and cleaning the gunk out. I bet you've either got buildup the spring can't overcome or your spring is broken or worn.
Sweet hat!
Worked thank you
