On Nov 15th 84, I ripped off my arm in a machine at work. I was barely 19. I was a drummer in a band. My arm was saved, and I practiced my ars off to recover. I changed how I played because I lost all my finger tendons but they took wrist tendons and moved them. I relearned how to do it. On Dec, New Year’s Eve, 84, I heard the news about Rick’s car accident. I thought of him, and I was devestated for him. I loved Def Lep, especially his drumming. They put his arm back and I waited to see if it took. I was sick to my guts about him. Then the news came that he lost his arm. I was so busted for him. I didn’t know at that point if I’d keep mine yet. I was fortunate. He too was fortunate though, because the boys in the band stuck with him. He is a success again. I was never so happy when I saw him live, for Hysteria.

You can tell just by listening to his fills how many arms he had at the time. If he was doing a lot of fast rolls across the set, he had two. If he was doing syncopated snare hits, he had one.

Watching this footage…tears to see Rick playing with both arms…but what a comeback he made, and turned a life changing event into something truly miraculous. This is incredible…but with these guys, nothing is impossible. Miss you Steve Maynard Clark❤️
Magnificent choir of exceptional musicians, because all singers, capable of superb harmonies, exceptional melodists and composers, surrounded by a drummer of remarkable precision. I grew up with Def Leppard, and will never tire of listening to them. When we see the ego quarrels in certain groups, the solidarity between these musicians and their drummer, following his misadventure, commands respect. Long live Def Leppard!
Saw this tour for my first concert, Mom got my brother and I tickets while we were in school. It was an incredible experience. They were pretty much exactly as this. Saw lots of other shows, played in bands, only band that came close was Pantera right after vulgar display came out. Pretty lucky. This is a much better view than I had then, from the balcony lol.

Wow, what a great recording!!!! DL was at the top of their Rock game here!!!! This is the DL I love!!! I'm not knocking the rest, but DL to me is High and Dry, On through the Night, and Pyromania!!!!!! Long live R&R!!!!!!!!!!!
Def Leppard with Steve Clark and Rick Allen before his accident (not that it stopped him!) and they are absolutely kicking ass in this show, it's just so satisfying to see. I was only 13 in 1983 when this was recorded so I really didn't have much chance to see and appreciate a show like this in person. So glad for this recording.
AAMM, the saddest thing is that Steve never realized how talented and gifted he was. He was always so nervous.... Bless his little heart. I hope he sees it now!

Jetfire1959 We don’t go there
It's like on 45 speed for a 33 record. The tempo is so fast. Very good for lads.
Too fast.....
I thought - maybe - cocaine.
I’m pretty sure that’s what you call “cocaine”.
Seagull Rock Squawk well that too
You can slow down the speed on the video here.
They definitely played harder and faster back then.
Yeah. Pop culture even ruined good rock.
@@eflint1 this and a car accident
Yeah and speeding up the music, makes it loose impact, for me at least.
we all played harder and faster 36 years ago.
.
now i wouldnt want to see them unlike acdc or the crue who still jam def lep is like easy listening. sucks and no one give me their old shit. the crue guys are around th same and ACDC over ten yeas older
Wow, they were the best hard rock band in the world at this time! They flat out jammed!
No need to pour any sugar on this! This performance blows me away in ways I couldn't have imagined!
Back in the day!!! Def Leppard looked and sounded great!!!!!!! Wish we could rewind for the day and go back. Miss the 80's!!!!!!!!
And, Steve sounds even more awesome on Wasted. Good God! That solo kills it not to mention the energy! He was such a great player. ❤️🎸
Let It 🎸 Rock; Let It Go !!! Let's Go!!! Lets Go!
Ràñdy. Rhoads
Let It Go never sounded better than ever…No computer intervention. Still my favorite DL sound..!
No software adjusting guitar sounds….just clean perfect raw rock music…..You can hear how much better it sounds than today live show…awesome
iT'S BEYOND AMAZING,.
This Band KNEW they were going FAR~
Man Steve Clark was an absolutely amazing player, especially in their early days before he started to hit the bottle hard. Great performance, Phil even does an excellent job and wore a shirt. Joe sounds awesome too!
I thought I saw smoke coming from Phil's shirt, that thing would probably have been ash if he kept lighting up the fretboard like he did on rock of ages lol.
Moc ráda vás poslouchám již od svých mladých let. AŤ žije DEF LEPPARD. Pavla 55 let
Steve sounds awesome on Let it Go!
Hey ok steve owesome but phil too!
Those guitars are absolutely wicked!! Outstanding performance, takes me back to 70's and 80's!
This is amazing, nice to see a crowd enjoying themselves. Really on fire here and Joe's voice is awesome.
Joe was NEVER BETTER than on this Tour~
SENSACIONAL.......QUE PRAZER OUVIR ESSE SHOW COM ESSA ENERGIA. ESSE GUITARRA ERA O CARA.....
Even after his death he's still keeping rock alive
iZZyBVaPn, I love your comment!
Long live rock and roll🤘
Im 62 and still jam out to them always
Next to Zeppelin and AC/DC this is the reason their my all time favorite band, they just kick ass!!!!
Jeep Killa - Same 🔥🔥
Agreed
Those days will never come back!
Chris the Unstoppable The point is, those days were here once.
@@Toyota4by4shiz You're right! We enjoyed them fully!
Слушаю это 40 лет и получаю удовольствие
Actually looks & sounds better than IN THE ROUND IN YOUR FACE. I would love to see that one get a proper all-around remaster.
Joe has some serious pipes here. He can still belt years later. CHEERS🍻
LET IT GO! My favorite Leppard song!!
Just incredible! They were such a great band back then. Steve Clark was such a bad a$$ ! Under rated as a player and performer.Young bands take note that's how you work a crowd.
Stop saying the word underrated you fucn hipster bitch...These guys were NEVER underrated...you're just a sheeple followed...Use your own brain the next time you try to sound cool or relevant...dickhead

@@jacktheriffer1523 I know it facking pisses me off. Steve was never underated neither leppard. Cheers mate
Joe Elliot has a great voice.
Very explosive and underrated...
We are clapping here with Rick Allen playing drums! What a show !!!
Best drummer ever!!! No matter how many arms❤️❤️❤️
Amazing performance! Thanks for posting!!!
Rick Allen is a beast on the drums. Even 2 this day with only 1 arm.
You can tell just by listening to his fills how many arms he had at the time. If he was doing a lot of fast rolls across the set, he had two. If he was doing syncopated snare hits, he had one.
@@FireMinstrel Yeah but he's still a f*cking beast right? How many drummers would have just given up after having such a horrific accident but not Rick... I have so much respect for the man.
@cindyleej2350 I have the utmost respect for rick! His fills with two arms were great! But wow with one arm and two feet. That's impressive!
@FireMinstrel when they covered travelin band in 1983 rick does some incredible fills at the start.
Where have this been!?! It's priceless!! I wish I could go back in time. I would be 18 and fresh out of High School! Good times!!!...
Can’t get better than this. So raw with so much energy
iT'S PERFECT,..Even the IMPERFECTIONS are Perfect!~
Incredible~
As an almost 17 year old American, is it strange to say that my favourite band is a British one formed in 1977?
I certainly don't. Def Leppard forever!
Snake Eyes dude same lol
Snake Eyes no
Snake Eyes No one cares how old you are.
I'm 34 and this band has remained my favorite band since I was a kid, so it's so awesome to see the next generation appreciate great music.
Same bro
Wow! Awesome song! I wish I knew these guys in 1983. I was only 14. I started listening to them in 84' - 85'. I was blown away when Def Leppard came out with 'Hysteria' my favorite song and album!!! I'm 53 and still loving their music. Rock on Def Leppard!! I just love them!❣️😘
Killer version of Let It Go. Steve Clark was the man 😊👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Let it go paras rock live koskaan piste
@@jimipasanen4022 näin on!🤘
Love the faster tempo on these songs, especially on "Let it go".
Watching this footage…tears to see Rick playing with both arms…but what a comeback he made, and turned a life changing event into something truly miraculous. This is incredible…but with these guys, nothing is impossible. Miss you Steve Maynard Clark❤️
What a great performance fantastic, and I never get tired watching all your music videos
And I kept on listening in #2020 🎸🎤🎹♥️♥️♥️
God i miss 80's when metal music was the pop music...I don't care what some stupids said, Def Leppard was a real metal band and metal's gods. 🤘
Metalero William joe said they never considered themself a metal band
@@Me37368 No!!! he said they'll never be a punk band. ,👎
@@metalerowilliamxxx both. Joe's words were "Too metal for pop, and too pop for metal."
I was 13 and idolizes these guys they were and still my band 37 years later
Condolences to Steve Clark's Family. His legacy will live on for many year's. True gift
Steve Steven Clark one of the best guitarist in the world right along with Steve Vai and Randy Rhodes!
RIP: Steve
John Epps jr. definitely one of the most underrated
Your right and rhoads lol
Holy shit Joe is killing it, especially on Let It Go! Wow what a performance.
Yes, he is. Did you know that song is about getting a blow job?
Saw this tour for my first concert, Mom got my brother and I tickets while we were in school. It was an incredible experience. They were pretty much exactly as this. Saw lots of other shows, played in bands, only band that came close was Pantera right after vulgar display came out. Pretty lucky. This is a much better view than I had then, from the balcony lol.
Let it go..my favorite all time song period.
2018 still rocking, great band🎶🎶🎶 we miss you Steven Clark
Who else but Steve Clark could be that young and play so excellently? His talent was so incredible, yet he never showed off. Such a sweetheart.
I love this
It’s awesome
I love Joe’s Union Jack top and the black leather pants
He looks awesome as always
I am so glad this is up on RUclips
I get to watch it whenever I want to
Steve Clark was the unique and original player guitar 🎸🎸🎸💙
probably THE best ever footage of DL at their peak........ really energetic... and their best album being showcased... Pyromania..... true British Steel!!!
They were also at their Peak in some live American concert, late 80s.
This band, this era was pure magic.
Wow, what a great recording!!!! DL was at the top of their Rock game here!!!! This is the DL I love!!! I'm not knocking the rest, but DL to me is High and Dry, On through the Night, and Pyromania!!!!!! Long live R&R!!!!!!!!!!!
2:12 alone shows the rawness and grit Steve Clark had. Dude just tossed the guitar behind him after ripping that riff
Gun Slinger Guitar Master
Love Def Leppard!!!!! Love Joe Elliot and the whole band one of the greatest!!!!! Long live Rock N Roll!!!!! XOXOXOXOXOXOXO
The tempo in rock of ages in faster than the normal version and I love it!
This is sooooo awesome. It sounds amazing. Thanks for posting this awesome footage. "Let it Go" is one of my favorites.
Clark was the BALLS of Def Leppard. When he died, so did this band.
AAMM I agree with you.
AAMM Steve and Pete were the best
They still rock
Rip and tear you sound like my dad lol
AAMM, the saddest thing is that Steve never realized how talented and gifted he was. He was always so nervous....
Bless his little heart.
I hope he sees it now!
God it's good to have two arms.
