I saw this lineup at Jackson, MS in June (?) 1984 when I was 15. Remember my camo BDUs bottoms (around my feet) flapping in the breeze from the power coming out the mains. Just as memorable was Accept opening for Ozzy --- those two, white flying Vs and the background vocals to "Balls to the Wall" sounded like thunder in the room. In retrospect, Ozzy was so young that day... sheesh time flies. Being in the room with Bob, Jake, Tommy and Don was an honor. Pains me to think Sharon may have been there

@@evanoglesby9504 More overlooked, but not really underrated in his day.
We grew up viewing Randy as a hero who never really went away.
Jake’s era was short and a low point for Oz.
Sharon released Randy Rhodes Tribute in ‘87. It sold well and was followed by Ozzy’s FIRST successful US tour. It was celebrating Randy with the new gun named Zakk who was instantly loved and stuck around to make some great records. That era was a huge comeback for Ozzy. Zakk gets praised for saving Ozzy by breathing new life into him.
Jake is very overlooked but certainly not underrated. If you play guitar and love Ozzy, you know it’s Tony, Randy, and Jake only.

Jake stuck to the original styles of Randy and Tony the best he could, keeping the spotlight on Ozzy.

Not to ever rush in to defend Sharon, or Ozzy for luring Don Costa in close, to as to whisper something to him, just to head butt Don Costa in the face, breaking his nose. & Yet someone should tell the tale & backstory that left Don bloodied, without a job, as his family was gathered there to see him & his sister Costa perform, Don’s sister being a lingerie model & a dancer who performed that night with Van Halen that night. Don, after being warned repeatedly, to keep away from young girls & stop walking out in front of Ozzy on stages to steal the spotlight, as Ozzy was singing & performing, yet he kept on doing all of it purposely. All of which really should have go without even saying, to never do. But Don wouldn’t be swayed, and later egomaniacally bragged to a roadie, how he still kept walking out in front of Ozzy, whenever Sharon wasn’t looking! When the roadie immediately went & told Sharon, who pretended to walk off, but doubled back & caught Don red handed, doing it again! So Don really brought it on himself, & then received a very humbling lesson at the US fest, where he was left bloody, broken & then learned he was fired, as his family had gathered there, to see him perform at the U.S. fest. Ozzy had to pay $5K to have get Don a nose job. That said most Ozzy fans were glad that Bob Daisley returned & got to play the Ozzy material again, that Bob had helped Randy Rhoads to create. Don Costa’s short stint with Ozzy was a cautious tale, he should have known the opportunity he had, as Bob Daisley was waiting in the wings, Don should have known all along that he was just a hired gun, working in Ozzy’s band, at it most tumultuous point in history, under a notoriously vengeful, wicked manager. Don was already on thin ice, after repeatedly attempting to steal the spotlight like a pure moron, & then Don senselessly pushed his luck even further, all to get caught again trying to steal the spotlight. Don should have been more self aware not to brag to a roadie, about still getting away with breaking the stage rules, as if he was the main attraction? Even before his short stint with Ozzy, Don had been a sickly twisted, minor figure in rock music history. Reportedly: Born in San Diego, the teenage Don Costa stole his first ever Bass guitar and taught himself to play. Local bands inevitably followed, before the lure of Hollywood. His first L.A. band was Dante Fox (who later became Great White) Although Don dismissed them later as 'g@y noise crap', Dante Fox certainly gave Costa the opportunity to develope his over the top stage behaviors. It was here that he first strapped a cheese grater onto the back of his Bass so that at one stage in the set he'd turn his bass over and start shredding his knuckles on it, resulting in blood and flesh flying everywhere. Less dramatically, he was also known for punching in his bass speaker cabinets and doing unusual things with a pick-axe.
In August 1982 Costa joined up with Blackie Lawless and his suitably wild & sick outfit WASP, but their perverse personalities clashed and after just one gross gig, he'd quit WASP to form his own band, Damien. & Damien were about as close to total deplorable outrage as it was possible to get away with, in that hedonistic drunken, drug fueled era. With session men on guitar and bass, Don Costa played bass and sang (like a dying dog) and wrote all the songs, sensitive ditties with titles like Hate thy Neighbor, Shredded Meat (the hymn to his cheese grater stunt) and Twelve and Under (a perverse pedo paean to underage girls) Off stage, Don had an obsession with sex that Freud would have found very interesting, telling reporters later, how he liked to tape record and photograph himself 'in action'. Eventually he was planning to involve some sex acts on stage with Damien, but thankfully the Ozzy audition put a stop to that. Hearing of Ozzy’s auditions, Costa sent along a tape of his songs and a set of suitably crazy pictures, got a call to prove it in front of Ozzy, where Don passed with flying colours. It goes on to mention that in 1983 with Ozzy's notable list of addiction problems and depression, Ozzy was stuck out on a extended tour that he wasn't enjoying, & inevitably someone was going to be a casualty, & this time the perverted Don Costa, after being caught in hotel rooms with one too many squealing underage age girls & stealing Ozzy’s spotlights, one too many times, Don Costa met Ozzy’s bloody axe Although at first amused by the cranky Californian, Ozzy soon tired of Don egocentric and erotic excesses. Ozzy said if Don Costa, “That guy is the proverbial maniac, he'd fu€k a frog if he could get it to stop moving,'Ozzy said. ‘He wouldn't go on stage unless he'd fu€ked three groupies a night, every night & Don liked em so young, that it was a huge liability, and we just couldn’t dissuade him, although we thought we had got through to him, but I turned out that he used to sneak off at all hours to collect their tiny knickers, & we discovered that he hidden had this awful box just full of them He was just like Rasputin, the mad twisted monk.” In the end, Ozzy of all people grew sick of it all and broke Costa's nose. Ultimately Don retired his cheese grater bass, & dreams of being in the spotlight & was rarely ever heard from again by his family, where according to his sister, he went on to a have a quiet career as a house painter. Ozzy & Sharon have left a trail of many, far less deserving victims in their wake, than Don Costa...😖
