This turned out absolutely beautiful! I lost all my furniture recently in a cross-country move and now I have to refurnish a whole apartment for next to nothing... This tutorial gives me some seriously cool ideas and options. So thanks for the tips!
thanks for making this, truly! You saved me over 900 dollars! I love the old antique look, but the price tag is a different story.....I was saving for over 6 months to buy this old bedroom set at my local antique store but after I saw this video I looked on craigslist and pieced together a whole bedroom set for 75 dollars! after "antiquing"my furniture.......I had saved a ton! thanks a million!
You are amazing! That is exactly what I want to do to this dresser I bought from this lady today on the side of the road for $20. It's solid wood. I never thought of using the blue and, until now after seeing how great it looks, in going to adopt that idea for this piece if furniture. Also, thank you for the tips on looking for used/returned paint and finding brushes and sponges at the dollar store. You probably saved us about $100. Your dresser turned out fabulous! Kudos!
I'm doing a beach cottage theme in our new house and am looking at ways to not only save some money but also get some unique pieces for our house. Thanks for this great tutorial.
I just inherited a huge mirror with dark wood frame. Your project is exactly what I've been looking for! Fantastic job; clear and concise. Thank you!!!
Hi Brah,I am a designer, like your finishes,,, You really have your art down to a tee.....I really like it that you tell people how to do it on the cheap... One thing homers think when they start a project like this is, OMG this is going to be costly, you take that out of their minds, and they can concentrate on their art. After all its all about the ART. There is no wrong or right way, just do it. Thanks for helping others Brah.
really nice authentic look. I thought it was just gonna end up looking worn from a distance, but the finishing touches really made it look authentic. Nice.
Thank you for the tutorial and all the tips :). I have a question when buying old furniture from the flea market how do I know I'm not bringing terminates inside my home. Thank you. BTW great channel :)
Avanti Morocha one way could be by utilising the eyes and inspect for those suckers. Just like the Trojan Horse, old stuff COULD potentially be infested and thus you'd be literally introducing a headache if it contains suckers in it.
WOW!! Very inspirational. Thanks for motivating me (a 60 yr. old grampa in Austin, Texas) to start fixing up my place and experimenting with color. I never thought of looking in the "used paint" section. I guess I'm not too old to learn some new tricks-ha! THANKS!! dave
This video helped me a lot. I'm going to do this to my white bathroom cabinet and put a new top on it. I didn't realize there were so many steps, so I'm glad I watched this. I love the cat that comes to hang out with you!
I loved your method. I, too, love to antique almost anything I get my hands on. This method is awesome....similar to what I do but I have never coated with a stain before. Thanks for the idea..I'm going to try that next on a smaller project. I just did my kitchen cabinets....big project...so I did one coat and then dry brushed like you mentioned. Thanks Beach Bum..
Liked it! Love how your cat didn't move much while you were all over the place! That's how my cat is too...has to be where you are!! I am planning on doing this to an old farm chair I found in my grandmothers chicken coop and making a planter out of it to hang on the fence! Should look great! Now if I can convince my hubby to let me at with his sander!!!
I can do anything crafting with Mason Jars, the crackle effect is my favorite thing to do.This video actually motivates me to venture out into the world of antiquing furniture!
Making or going to make a baking table for my self and my cooking students to work on, that can also double as a dining table. I was looking for a tute, and found you. Perfect! thanks man!
Thanks a lot for the "distressed look" project help. I am having a garage sale, and I have some old furniture. I thought I would give the furniture a distressed look to help sell it. You did an awesome job, and the steps will be easy to follow. Thanks again! Mark
This look is really taking off here in Cali. I like the way you use the watered down paint. You can also use a mix of antiquing glaze and walnut stain if you want it to be a little shinier.
My husband is making floor to ceiling bookcases for my office. I was wanting to give them an aged look. I loved your technique, I will definitely be attempting this :) Thanks!
Sweet! This video is just what I needed to get me started on my wedding chairs... I'm taking unwanted, wooden chairs and redoing them to use in my wedding this summer. I dig the whole mismatched, eclectic, outdoor look. It's a huge project and I had no idea how to start these chairs!
Trying to come together with new colors for my home. I've got an old window I pulled out from an outdoor in the woods vacated home junk pile. It is already weathered. Thought I'd hang it from a ceiling as a quazi-window over my china hutch. Thinking I could just paint a stain over it but after watching your video, may try to give it more support by starting from scratch - base coat and then distress it. Thanks for all the great ideas.
Thank you...not just for your demo, but for the awesome tip on purchasing premium paint at a discount price. I love your colored fence slats! Would love to do that to my picket fence but the neighbors would probably fall over dead!
Thanks for the video. I agree it was easy to follow and gives me ideas. I want to create a used vintage country kitchen look with antiquing the kitchen cabinets to a worn look and this video helped me a lot. Keep the videos coming.
Thanks for posting this video! This makes distressing a lot more simple than all of the other 'how to' instructions. Great tips and I can't wait for the rain to stop so I can make this happen with my free/ found furniture!
I think it was fine how it was, it shows personality! I loved the tutorial myself, and like that you show it can be done even in a real budget way, you don't have to buy all the frufru things to get it done!
Awesome! I am moving to my own appartment in august and I'm planning on doing that to my old and boring furniture to give them some personnality! I hope it is as easy as it seems!!
Working on my distress TV stand now. Second coat is drying now. :-) Glad you posted this. I am also making a YT video. I'll try and remember to post as a video response. :)
Ah man, that looks great. I'm redoing our bathroom vanity and was having issues with the sandpaper bringing it right back to its original color right past the first coat of brown that I had went with. I never thought to just paint it a primary color then add streaks of brown! Thanks for the video man!
Love this video! I'm moving into my very first home with my 11 year old son in a few weeks and trying to get an idea for some stuff without spending a fortune!! Awesome tip too about the returned paint.. I never knew that!!! Thanks fot your video!

This video is great, I've been wanting to see some other options for putting polyurethane on my finished projects. The added stain made that little dresser look awesome. Thanks for posting!
Fun and I got a lot of great tips. Unfortunately in Northern Ireland we don't have a lot of the same brands you used, but I can play around and find something close enough. Thanks for posting
Wow....that was really a great video. I've stumbled upon many videos and couldn't get the exact look I was going for so my project has been postponed, after viewing this I think I'm ready! Thanks.
Well done, you've achieved a really good look on your project. I'm a 'very' amateur hobby furniture recycle painter.... then I found Annie Sloane's Approach, No Primers. No Undercoat + Clear or Dark Wax finish Shabby Chic look.
