Yes!! So glad I couldn't sleep & decided to watch RUclips! My dad's helping make some shelves for me, going for a no-frills, kind of industrial-type look. This is EXACTLY the look I was going for but hadn't thought of layering. Thank you!!
Shane! I just came back to this video after watching woodworkers on YT for the last 7 years. You still have EASILY the coolest style--no one else does anything even kind of like your stuff. I thought woodworking had to be dull and complicated until I found your videos. I hope you start making woodworking videos again someday.
Thank you for the video, though I am only seeing it in 2023 and not 2013-ish. Your explanations are great! Love the kitty, honestly, the best part of the video!!! Part of aging in my house is the claw marks from cats shooting across my furniture pieces and of course built in fur in the poly or painted stage.
Definitely my next project. I painted a desk the other day. White and just dry brushed red roughed it up a little. Looked pretty good for my first painted project. Ended up consigning it at a store. Lol they loved it and should get good money for it at there location. Its high end stuff they carried so it was awesome having them take it. Ill be doing more of that but since im more comfortable with stain and this looks so easy. Ill be trying this next. Its awesome man. Appreciate everything.
THAT'S HOW BRA. Seriously - thanks I was looking for a creative way to stain a loft I'm building for my kid. That kinda shabby sheeeek look is pretty cool. I'm gonna do it.
Oh man, i dunno where to start. The finished look at frame 4:24 is SO damn close to what I have been drooling over at a cabinet shop it is UNREAL. You have made me determined to "redo" my old, ugly...but solid...maple kitchen cabinets. Gonna get me a piece of scrap maple and practice. I do believe you have saved me about 12k. Many, many thanks.
Standup Broad Right on!! Definitely practice and get the steps down because I do show you the steps but there is a certain finesse that's required to get the look just right. Good luck with your project!
Layering sanding and the Kona = amazing! I just stripped and re-stained/distressed a pine sofa table with this method. Gorgeous! Next: adding the Sunbleached stain layer using wall sconces. Your vids are awesome -- more pleez!
Beach Bum Living is the real Life! :) I'm actually living like this too and just found your channel looking through youtube for distress painting! Surf, wood, sun and wind is what it is... thanks for the vids! Greetings from Brazil!
You do a really good job of explaining things. Only comment is, there is a lot of technique involved when you do things and technique makes the difference. So, when you say "just lightly sand it" you might consider actually showing how you sanded it -- how you held the paper, the stroke, the contact, why you sanded as much or as little as you did, what areas you emphasized, if any -- to get that particular look. You have a great voice and, again, really explain things well and that keeps people interested and engaged -- showing what you mean for those of us who are new to woodworking would be that much more helpful. I'll be checking out your other videos -- great stuff! Thanks for sharing your talents. And your cat -- too cool.
I just realized you're a veteran! your videos just got even better. Thanks for your service and awesome videos. I used this technique for my first furniture restoration project and it turned out perfect. And so easy!
I just bough Kona, walnut and weathered gray to try a couple variations. I’m excited to try it, if these don’t work well I know I can use your combination and buy the sun bleach. Great video thank you!
White Blaze Organics - Montana it was too much lol kona was beautiful though I pretty much did my mantle and ceiling beam kona. But dark walnut and know underlying for my pantry shelves came out nice! Thank you!
Awesome technique! I have a cabinet that is finished in a smooth dark brown paint. I'm gonna try to sand it down and apply a gray stain like he just did. Thanks for the tips and giggles. Love the fat cat too!! Jenny
+BeachBumLivin Oh Wow! I did it :) After lightly sanding the cabinet, I just used white spray paint and a cloth to smear the wet paint to give it an aged look. It looks GREAT!! Thanks Beach Bum!
I luv this. I am wanting to do my kids dresser. Am going to Lowe's in the morning lol. Thanks so much for explaining your techniques in a way to understand. Can wait to share this project...
Love your video. The problem is that I am a beginner and the video didn't show the way you used the sandpaper and your other techniques. Just thought I'd throw that out there so us beginners can keep up with the pros! : ) Love the way yours turned out. Peace!
Thank you for what you do. You make it clear, simple and fun to watch! I'm just starting to learn how to re-purpose and after watching you......I believe. I also have a barn cat that is HUGE :) perhaps I'll send you a pic. Stay "Cool"!
This is beautiful! It looks almost bluish. Nicely streaked but not overly rustic. Can't wait to try it out! Thanks for sharing.
