Nicely Done!! Very Nicely Done!! I really did like the 3 color effect, very cool, very cool. Loved the colors you picked as well, they very much complimented each other as each looked like an aged color of the other color on the board, so that was cool as well. Nicely Done!! Very Nicely Done!!
One thing to do, if you want to make it look like chippy old paint, use wax, an old candle, or whatever. Anyway, you rub wax on the piece, paint, then you can scrape off the paint where you applied the wax. You can add multiple color layers by doing this, too. The channel, "Our Upcycled life," shows how to do this. It is so simple and looks so good. She has several videos on how to paint something to look like old chippy paint.
ooooh so cool! I am building out a 1988 chevy van to live in and travel while working in film. I have made so many mistakes during the build and have so many pieces of miscut wood that I need to make into something beautiful. Thank you for the inspiration!
Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart. I do crafting DIYs and my daughter is into farmhouse decor. I am making her a lot of DIYs for their new home and I needed some ideas on how to do the weathered wood look. She is my angel so I thank you so very much because I know she will love everything I'm doing for her if I follow your steps. Thanks again.
I’m restoring an old 1986 camper for my 88 Toyota pickup. The interior walls are going to have this technique!!! I wish I could share a photo when it’s done. It’s gonna look great with the help of this video. 🙏thank you!
Thank you so so much this video has show me how to start my next project and it’s something I was wondering how to use different colors and the chief rustic look awesome Solucion and thank you again for doing this video
Thanks, it was cool. Fast and efficient. I sometimes have to fast fwd many videos! I've done the technique before. But, it's been a while. I think I used to lay down some wax in between coats to get even MORE uneven surface of paint to reveal. Will be watching...( any recommendation on a good orbital or palm sander? Mine has broke.)
I've been using my dewalt orbital sander for years. It's ok. If money wasn't an issue I would probably buy the mirka or festool. They are ridiculously expensive but they are powerful and have the best dust collection.
Would you get the same result using a roller as you did with the spray can you think? That brushed technique clearly has it's own look to it, curious if using a roller you'd get the same as the spray.
I used a spray on clearcoat. I believe it was a satin finish. I don’t remember if it was poly or something else maybe I mentioned it in the video, but I don’t remember.
Like this idea next to trying to do antique method, I would like to do something like this with a medium gray and turquoise with the turquoise standing out a bit more with the medium gray that would highlight it in the background to make it look a bit aged, would the egg shell paint be ok to use, I have 2 quarts of each, the store didn't have the matte or gloss in stock at the time I got these, and may use the clear coat of flex seal so it can be easy to clean and dust (these is for my van conversion build, and like to do these color themes for the front facing of storage areas, cabinet doors/drawers, etc)
I love the 3 colors definitely!😍 Do you attatch a hose with suction to your standing machine to reduce the paint dust spreading?I'm so worried to use this machine 🤭 don't want to get the house dirty
I watched your video and it was so informative and so clear and professional...thank you. I do have a question, though, How long did you wait between the spray painted coats? Also, if you spray paint do you still have to wait a couple of days before you sand?
I recommend going by the suggested wait time on whatever spray paint you use. 2nd question, I would wait 24 hrs before sanding. But your questions really depend on the brand of paint you're using.
Enjoyed your video. I am going to try this technique tomorrow. I loved the two green paint colors you used on the one board. What is the color name of those two and the brand? Thank you so much!!
i want to create a picture frame from an old window. i have removed the paint and sand it nicely...i want a neon green so what three diff kinds can i use. DO I USE acrylic, oil, chalk, emulsion this is all available in india.
The real concern is making sure you use a paint that adheres to the stain. I would go to a legitimate paint store and ask them. Don’t ask the big box store. Those people aren’t very knowledgeable
I'm painting using this technique over stain on an existing vanity, is it necessary to sand all existing stain off or just hit it with 120 grit to smooth out and then paint?
What is the best type paint to use? I have painted signs with chalk and acrylic. I see you used latex which is something I don't usually buy? Is that oil based (I'm an amateur at this...), thanks!
Great video, I was getting the impression you weren't as impressed with the sprayed version, could of done with a close up comparison, it didn't look as good as the others. All round very nice video though! Thanks
Hi there! Great video, thanks! Would this work with a top coat of acrylic paint? Also can I use a wood varnish between layers if I want to preserve the colors below?
This is the best video I’ve seen on giving wood a weathered or aged look. Nice!
Need to build a vintage looking door, gonna give this method a shot! Thanks for the tutorial man.

Nice idea cheers
Model railroaders have used rubber cement between layers for many years.

That sounds like a very interesting project Pease share pics if possible. My email is artisanmadethings@gmail.com.
Thanks alot... building a headboard for a friend...her colors are black, grey ,teal...can't wait ,to mix it up
I like the green one with the various colors
I see now how to make some back drops for my photography. Also, rustic picture frames. So, thanks for the ideas. Show was very well done!
Awesome video. You made a lot of sense. I will do some testing myself. Looking to make new wood on a barn look old. thank you
Fun to watch! I am creating an island for my art room and want to have this distressed look. Do you have any suggestions on what wood is best to use?
If you are looking for solid wood. Poplar paints well. Maple is a good hardwood option but more expensive. You can also do pine but that is a softwood
Great. Thank you for this. I think I am going to 3 coat, use brush then spray then brush again.
Thank you so so much this video has show me how to start my next project and it’s something I was wondering how to use different colors and the chief rustic look awesome Solucion and thank you again for doing this video
Thank you so much for this tutorial, we really appreciate it.
Love the details and tips. New subscriber. Love your shop layout as well.
I am going to try it! Thanks, Your videos are really informative. I look forward to future videos.
Great video and I am doing furniture and cabinets with this technique but what grit sandpaper should be used? Thank you
120 grit

Just want to tell you that you have great videos and I enjoy watching them. Good luck!
Thank you my friend!!!
Thank you very much Sir, from Mauritius
This video was perfect for me!! Thank you.
Nice...i was looking for it for so long

Please advise: should I satin poly top coat? Ty for amazing video.
I used a spray on clearcoat. I believe it was a satin finish. I don’t remember if it was poly or something else maybe I mentioned it in the video, but I don’t remember.
Very informative. After you sand a piece of painted furniture, should you seal or will it last as is? Thanks.
I sprayed a clear coat

Try the eggshell on a scrap piece first.
Love your videos. Keep them comin!
Thank you!!!
Thank you so much. This is great stuff.
Cool technique!
I love the 3 colors definitely!😍 Do you attatch a hose with suction to your standing machine to reduce the paint dust spreading?I'm so worried to use this machine 🤭 don't want to get the house dirty
Definitely use a vac if you have one.
If this was acrylic paint, what would you seal it with? Love the channel 👍🏾
I’m not sure. I have never used acrylic paint.
I’m not sure. I have never used acrylic paint.
Learned allot! THANKS
Love your videos. I am making a pumpkin from pallets. It will be outside. What colors do you suggest? Thanks so much.
Experimenting is the fun part. Maybe a little off-white under the orange.
Thanks so much for this video.
Great thanks for making! What grit of sand paper did you use?
120

Merci ! Bonjour de France
Very helpful. Thank you kind sir.

I don’t remember the colors I did this a long time ago, but I used the Home Depot paint. Behr
❤ this! Can u tell us what grit sandpaper you used?
120
Nice video mate..
Awesome bro

Amazing 🎉
Do you recommend putting any type of clear coat over it once you’re done sanding down the layers? If so what would you use?
Yes. I used a satin polycrylic spray on my picture frames
@@ArtisanMade Thank you.
I loved it this video
Were you using acrylic or solvent based paint?
Can you do this with fencing that has an original reddish stain?
The real concern is making sure you use a paint that adheres to the stain. I would go to a legitimate paint store and ask them. Don’t ask the big box store. Those people aren’t very knowledgeable
Would this flat latex matte finish paint work outdoors?
You would have to use an exterior paint
Beautiful. Which roughness of sand paper did you use?
Thank you. 120 grit
I'm painting using this technique over stain on an existing vanity, is it necessary to sand all existing stain off or just hit it with 120 grit to smooth out and then paint?
If I were doing a project like this, I would use a primer first. If you are using latex paint, often the primer is in the paint already.
What is the best type paint to use? I have painted signs with chalk and acrylic. I see you used latex which is something I don't usually buy? Is that oil based (I'm an amateur at this...), thanks!
I only tried with latex. Latex is water based. Most common in the USA for painting homes.
Very interesting
From where can I buy paint ? What kind of paint or any brands ?
I know I'm years late but, do you have to wait days to sand of just a few hours?
I waited a couple of days
I like that
What if at the end I want to add some golden touch here and there so I should apply like another layer of paint or just touch up at the end .
I would experiment with your idea on a piece of scrap and see how it comes out.
That waterbase paint?
Thanks
Question? When you sand it that's the last part so you don't apply anything else like clear products??
Yes. I made picture frames and sprayed a clear coat on them.
Are you using acrylic paint or Enamel ?
awesome
How long should each coat of paint dry before the next coat? Thanks!
Couple hours should be fine.
Thank you
in India we have choice of acrylic and chalk which paint should we use..
I don’t know. I only use latex.
Great video, I was getting the impression you weren't as impressed with the sprayed version, could of done with a close up comparison, it didn't look as good as the others. All round very nice video though! Thanks
Your right. I didn’t like the sprayed one. I should have gotten a closer video of that one. Thanks for watching.
bravo 👏 👏 👏
Hi there! Great video, thanks! Would this work with a top coat of acrylic paint? Also can I use a wood varnish between layers if I want to preserve the colors below?
I'm not sure. Try it out on some scrap wood.
I have a whole set of stairs and around it
Can you please tell me what grade of sandpaper to use thank you. And by the way you did a great job
I used 120 grit.
What sandpaper do you use?
Thanks 😎
120 grit
It’s like you start a job on the Hobbit house and then leave it before your done!
👌
Grit?
120 I think
Why don’t you show this step by step?
I did.
