    Hey! Thank you so much for your help! I've been wanting to make a murphy desk in a inset in one of my walls (it's weird) but I was so pissed when I started because it looked nothing like what you had done but I kept at it and streaked the darker color (I used weathered grey and ebony...because that's all I found at HD) with the light grey and wiped and it actually turned out so perfect so a big, huge thank you!
    Edit: once I finished everything and got it set up perfect I ended up streaking ever so slightly with a satin white I was using to touch up a wall, i streaked and wiped immediately in thin lines and slightly curved long lines and it made the desk pop so much more. Thanks again for the help and good luck all!

      @@EternalHarvestDecor So I am finally moving forward w this table, but had a setback. The table has a decorative deep crack going around the top. I filled it in because it’s a crumb collector. It’s also been primed with BIN shellac primer because we needed to make sure there was no bleed through. Our plan changed to solid color paint, but now that I see your video again, I wonder if it can still be done like this. 🤔 Primer is white. I planned to do the piece much brighter because the room it’s in.. everything is light and airy. Sorta has a beachy or garden feel to it, so it would work better. Do you think this look can still be achieved on something primed white? 🤣 This damn table is not going according to plan. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I just really am trying to avoid it being boring. 🙃

    I just did it and and easiest thing to do, I painted this dresser this silver chalk paint color and hate it flat so I wanted a rustic look. I didn't have a brown so took a forest green and added a little red, I test painted a box the same color as dresser then drug my DIY brown like she did then a little wheat color. It was so easy and mine looks just as good if not better, I'm totally doing the whole dresser now.....THANKS!

    I doubt I’ll ever stop loving the old, weathered look but what will we do if that happens?? I won’t even know how to paint anymore. 🥺 my house will be empty. Lol

    Can a satin finish poly urethane be put on the top for a protective layer? Does it ruin the affect of the old finish look?

    Your work is absolutely amazing!!! 🤩🤩🤩 Simple and to the point 👍🏻 I have a question tho... would I be able to achieve this look on an old dining table and not on new wood? After stripping it and sanding it down?

      And also, would chalk paint work instead of latex paint?

      So I haven’t tried paint but the stain should work fine if the table is sanded to bare wood 🙌🏼 thanks for watching

    What kind of stain did you use? I see the colors and brands but I’m needing to know if it’s the solid colors or the semi transparent. Apparently these many variations lol. Awesome video. Definitely the easiest way I’ve seen.

      alliekatt I think this is it, it’s oil and not transparent

      Robo Trump it’s just latex paint like you would use on your walls mixed with water

    • @EternalHarvestDecor
      @EternalHarvestDecor  4 года назад

      Robo Trump wow that sounds like it was a really cool process! I love low gloss or satin the most for my clear coats and I use deft fro Home Depot or polycrylic from Lowes if it’s going on a wall that should be perfect!

    Question. I love your technique, but what technique would you use in a situation where you have varnished dark furniture. I was planning and lightly sanding it and priming and start with a light base coat...then move to the stains. What's your opinion?

    • @EternalHarvestDecor
      @EternalHarvestDecor  2 года назад

      I actually have seen people us oven easy off, it takes the wood back to its natural color first and then start from there

    Love the look of this! I decided to do my dining room table for my first staining project lol. The first color I was going to do was Carbon Grey but then thought it might be too dark so I also got a can of Classic Grey. Would those 2 colors still work for this type of look? Is an accent color necessary? Thanks for you help :)

    • @EternalHarvestDecor
      @EternalHarvestDecor  4 года назад +1

      I think pretty much any wood color would work with this technique, I would say just be sure to practice and try the colors out first to achieve the look you want. Then put it on the final piece. Love carbon grey, you just need a lighter and darker color and you may want to add some brown tones if you want it mimic wood. The accent color is not necessarily at all just fun to tie in decor if desired

    I really loved your video! I used the colors you used to make a sliding barn door and it turned out great but it’s a little too gray for my walls. I didn’t do the turquoise. What do you suggest I could do to warm it up a bit?

    • @EternalHarvestDecor
      @EternalHarvestDecor  3 года назад

      You could add a little special walnut stain to warm it up if you like.

    Are you letting each stain/paints dry in between colors or are you applying layers one after another? Looks great

    finding your video super late but praying for a long shot! i'm really struggling with my dry brush technique i can't seem to get it look even but guess it could be bc i didn't water paint down. can you tell me how much water u used. also i wouldn't think it would matter but do you think using chalk paint watered down would make a difference

    • @EternalHarvestDecor
      @EternalHarvestDecor  5 месяцев назад

      Hi, I dont think the chalk paint is the best option but I have used it before and it works ok, I do water it down as well. I add just enough water to make it more of a syrup, but honestly thats a personal preference thing. Maybe try a few with different amounts and see what you like best. I dont have it down to a science, I like it to be a syrup consistency.

    When you applied the classic gray and jaco bean did you use a regular or foam brush? And did you use different brushes for each color or did you just clean them and use the same brush? And with the stains did you water them down or just dip right into can?

    • @EternalHarvestDecor
      @EternalHarvestDecor  2 года назад +1

      I used two different brushes and dipped and went I did not water down the stain, I did water down the paint though.

    Can this technique be used to brighten up old 70’s paneling? If not, do you have any suggestions? I don’t like the way just painting looks.

    • @EternalHarvestDecor
      @EternalHarvestDecor  2 года назад

      Man that’s a good question. My guess is no, the paneling probably had paint or sealer on it and this is meant for raw wood: you could try the paint that looks like wood technique . I used stain in this video

    I love this! I want to use this technique to re-finish a floor length mirror that has dark wood right now. It’s my 1st DIY project ... do you think I should sand and prime first? Any tips? Thank you!

    • @EternalHarvestDecor
      @EternalHarvestDecor  5 лет назад

      Adrienne Gonzalez oh cool, I’ve only tried to work with raw wood. If it’s real wood you could sad and then add stain colors. Or you could just try to use watered down paint to achieve the same look. Good luck!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
