Shaped By Fire was produced by the band and was mixed by Joseph McQueen at Sparrow Sound in Los Angeles, CA while mastering was completed by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in Nashville, TN. The only exception was for the track “My Own Grave” which was produced by AS I LAY DYING, co-produced by Drew Fulk and mixed by Adam “Nolly” Getgood. The artwork was created by Corey Meyers.

AS I LAY DYING will then close the year with a U.S. tour this November - December with support from AFTER THE BURIAL and EMMURE.

Unfortunately there is going to an intense amount of pushback from the industry.
The biggest thing is the guys accepting him back and giving him another chance. That's very tough especially after what he did. But I'm glad they're back and still kicking ass

Certain bands aren't happy with it (like Architects, for example) and Ash Avildsen of Sumerian Records had some things to say, but their fan base has stood by them, as have friends and other bands like August Burns Red and Wolves at the Gate among others. They got themselves a record deal with Nuclear Blast; I think they're doing well, and I don't see them getting much more shit from the industry.

Nice to see the change in Tim and seeing him try his best to make amends. The new song is great. Really enjoying Killswitch Engage’s new album, Atonement. Can’t wait to hear the Shape By Fire album. Already preordered my copy of the album.
This was such an amazing shoot to be involved with!! The band were amazing and extremely nice to a kid that loves metal!! I love the song! Mathis was an excellent director and am honored to have the chance to work with the entire crew!!

When I saw them in Nashville several months ago, Tim hung back after their set was over to get pictures and talk to people. I was in a hurry so I just grabbed a quick handshake and thanked him for giving me the opportunity to see them, but there were a good number of people who went up to him and said stuff like "I forgive you" and "Keep bettering yourself" and he got really emotional over it all. That's not something you can fake. He really is doing his best to make up for his past and he's a completely different person, it seems.

Love the meaning behind this album. Although our stories can’t relate to Tim’s we have all dealt with failure. I too have recently experienced failure to a life altering degree.
This album and the songs out so far have spoken to me as have many of their songs. This is on course to become my favorite album from them.

I had such a blast seeing them and meeting them in N.Y. at the montage music hall, Tim was very involved with talking to everyone.
I think this hole album lyrically will be about Tim and all what happened to him and the band. It's going to be one of their best albums.

I love how Tim has made amends for the horrible things he did, completely owned up to it, and is using his music with As I Lay Dying to address his actions. I think the band deserves this second chance, but I sincerely hope they do not squander it. Second chances are fine, third and fourth chances are not.
As I lay dying is one of the band's that got me into metal (Killswitch Engage was the other) especially during a tough time in my life and they helped me get through it all. I love this band and I love metal as a whole. And proud to be a fan.

The release of AILD's Shaped by Fire album falls on Sept. 20th. My exgf Chelsie committed suicide on Sept. 20th 2001. I was wearing my only As I Lay Dying shirt the day my birth mom died i was holding her hand. And now I hear about their tour? I really want to see them live. I would like to meet these guys, especially Tim, and just really talk to these guys.

I saw the documentary they put out recently and in retrospect it really solidified my understanding of this band in the current climate. It's so fresh that Tim is still writing such personal lyrics after following his incarceration. He didn't have to. He could've put it behind him and gone for the popular sociopolitical correct shit that seems to be infiltrating art in all forms. But he didn't. I haven't been as hyped for a release the past 5 years. Just bought tickets to see them live.
Yes I like the lyrical content and see what you mean. But sociopolitical content is not infiltrating all art forms just now. It has always used art as a medium. Especially heavy metal. Sociopolitical messages started with black fucking Sabbath!

My gut says this album is going to be amazing af! I have a feeling a lot of these songs are going to be about hitting rock bottom and being transformed into a new creation! Which I know Tim has gone through and so many other people need to hear the lyrics and change their ways from going down the dark path.
