I see that this will help improve colors, but I wonder if it will be enough to get to the level of color purity that a qd oled can get to. Cause if they can pull that off, then that would be freaking awesome. LG has phenomenal processing. Probably and arguably the best tv processing in the world when specifically speaking about the new A11 processor. I mean, even their last gen processor was great. So if they can somehow figure a panel tech that will definitively compete. I would absolutely love to see that. I know that we consumers would appreciate a good bee panel technology from LG. I just hope LG doesn't go out like the way they did with the mobile phone market. That os pretty much non-existent. That would be ashame to witness after so many years of dominance in the tv market. It would be like watching your favorite toy store closing forever when you're a kid. Heart breaking.
@user-sw7ln9ro7y yes I have done that on my.own personal time simply just having them next to eachother on a normal day flaming, watching dvds specifically. Both sdr and and hdr. Streaming in sdr and hdr. Sports, youtube etc the list goes on. I would say overall if I had to choose best overall use, although it's very close. The LG g4 is the better tv as it can upscale better, but I think because of the price picture on the s90d being so much lower and cost effective, most people will choose the S90d. Because although the overall processing may not be better on the s90d. It's still providing probably the nicest picture you have ever scene on your life when the time and content calls for it. It really is the value king. I own the A95L and there are times where it blows the A95L and the A95L is still my overall favorite tv of all time. But again the s90d is maybe only 5 to 7% not as good as the A95L for way less then half the price all while still many times out shinning the A95L. It is something special.

I did notice slightly raised blacks on qd-oleds in store. But the ambient light was bright as hell there

Let's remember LG has their own Quantum Dot technology called Nanocell, it's basically the same thing. I could easily see them releasing their own type of QD-Oled, but they would probably call it Nano OLED or something similar. I really do think they will have to step in to the QD-realm to compete

Can you do a comparison of the TVs black levels in your room with the lights on. Seeing how all your videos are in a theater like dark setting can we get a comparison in a bright room? Showing off the black levels and maybe the screen coating up close. I know QD OLED lights up under ambient light and MLA also is slightly lifted.
Agreed. Samsung has that whole coloful, beautiful "Monet landscape painting" look going ... while LG has the better motion and upscaling. Probably would have been a massacre, if Samsung put the processors they use in their 8K tv's in the QD oled models. But Samsung still want to shove 8K down our throats for some reason.
G4 if you want good processing and clean image. If you want true cinematic experience Dolby vision in filmaker mode is the best image you can get from a tv. 5 years pannel guarantee is also nice to have . S90D is a cheaper tv. Not bad but nothing special. Have tried a80l, s90d, s95d,g4 i decided to stay with g4 for good. After 1 month of using it I still cant find something that I dont like. I actually like it more and more everyday.

I do think the G4 DV implementation is better compared to the A95L implementation. I Do think that the G4 has a more physical higher quality build. I also agree that the 5 yr panel.warrantt is amazing and a huge plus. Having both tvs in my house. I get to have the privilege to have them sit side by side and check them out at home. And I just can't not admit to all my ppl who take their time to watch. The S90D in my personal opinion is truly an awesome tv. It really is. Especially in gaming and watching movies that display lots of colors such as avatar or transformers, marvel movies, Mario bros. It's just a game changer in the house. So as far as value goes, you can't go wrong, in my opinion.

I’m looking at getting the G4, S95D, S90D, or A95L. Which would you choose and why? 75% of the time I stream movies/tv shows in 4k or 4k hdr, 25% games in ps5 and Xbox series x. I’m having a hard time deciding as I’ve gone to my local Best Buy and it’s just really hard to tell because I know their TVs are in vivid mode or the brightest mode to show them off so I’m asking because I know you have bought them or seen them in person and I’m just curious what you think.
Same. Leaning towards G4 since it gets a little brighter and has a better game mode. I also am not blown away with qd oled (on my s95b, tho maybe it's just samsung processing and motion holding it back)

So here's the thing, both of these OLED TVs are amazing and will make u very happy. Oled is amazing QD or WB, they are both excellent. If u watch TV mostly in the daytime in a sun soaked room, well both of these TVs get bright enough, well over 1k nits. Oled is awesome, go with last years model and save money.
It seems to me g4 is better all around tv, movies, gaming, and sports, where s90d is better in gaming segment, but not in other two. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad tv, far from it, top 3 OLED, just not as versatile as G4. A95L G4 S90D S95D (only because of the screen finish) Bravia 8 Just my take
QD-OLED panels use a blue OLED layer as a light source with Quantum Dots color filter this way you get better and brighter colors than those on WOLED technology, QD OLED gets rid of the white subpixel that is being used in WOLED which causes the panel to start to wash out colors when the display gets brighter.
This will ultimately depend on how sensitive you are to the issue, but it was worse than I imagined. So much so, that I sold my QD OLED shortly after receiving it to return to my old WOLED panel which by all other metrics, is not on the same level as the QD. The lifted blacks destroyed contrast and made the image jarringly flat in comparison to what's provided with the inky blacks on a WOLED panel, and this was something I noticed even with minimal room lighting. Even in a pitch black room, I felt as though the light emanating off of the screen was lifting the black levels and killing contrast. That said, most don't seem to mind it as much as I do.
LG can't go qd-oled. It was stated in a stream that they literally don't have the money. Samsung sells so many TV's it's no problem. I agree I just saw a quantum dot and it's crazy how colors can remain vibrant even when you turn the brightness up. Big LG fan but on my C4 it definitely washes out especially when you turn up the brightness unfortunately.

My Lg g4 65’ has terrible vertical banding in dark scenes other than that it’s great.
Hopefully it will get better after a few pixel refreshes, otherwise you at least have 5 years warranty ;D

When there is sufficient light in the room it looks like a high end qd miniled in terms of contrast. Which is worse than oled but still good
