The actor that played Mike Von Erich nailed the press conference scene. It’s almost eerie.
Yeah it's a bit tough to watch tbh
The afterlife scene broke me
Yeah especially the 5 year old brother. Bloody hell
The scene with Mike is what did it for me. That poor baby was open about not wanting to follow the family legacy, was forced to and essentially died from it.
"I used to be a brother"
That line killed me
Kerry Von Erich continued to wrestle with one foot for many years, even during his WWE run.
Really? That's insane. What a boss
@WatchMitchWatch Yep, according to other wrestlers, he would keep the boot on to hide that fact from certain people, but the film shows after he lost he foot, he had a spell in the WWE and won the intercontinental title, there's plenty of interviews on RUclips that confirm this. Only a few people outside of his family knew he had one foot, Roddy Piper, for example.
He sure did. The Texas Tornado
Kerry wrestled with a prosthetic leg. He was that good.
What an animal. Good effort
There actually was another brother named Chris who also died but the director wrote him out due to the film’s time constraints
Yeah I read that afterwards, that’s so crazy! Poor family
It was sometimes hard to believe it was a true story based on tragedy after tragedy after tragedy. And then to know that they left out a whole other brother. Just insane story
That and also this movie is depressing enough even without Chris
yea also the movie only had a budget of 15 million, the director said his dream movie would have been more like the godfather in length
Been waiting to watch this movie with a reactor. You’re the first. At least that I found. And I absolutely love this movie. I was born in 2000 but grew up watching 80s and 90s wrestling with my dad and unknowingly watched the Von Erich’s for years. Just didn’t know it till I watched this movie. I immediately went back to those old videos. The ending destroyed me. My whole family was crying. Hope you enjoy this one. Definitely Zac efrons best performance of his career ❤
Thank you! Yeah I was quick on the trigger for watching it and editing it. I’m glad you liked it! I didn’t know anything about them either, but I’m happy I went in blind. That ending nearly killed me haha
Best wrestling movie I've seen. Such a heartbreaking story, couldn't imagine watching all my siblings die like that and having to live on. Zac Efron killed it, his final scene brought me to tears.
Have you seen The Wrestler? That’s a good one too. But yeah if it wasn’t a true story it wouldn’t even seem believable, so sad
@@WatchMitchWatch Yeah that movie was my favorite wrestling movie for years. They’re definitely my top 2 now 🙌🏻
they had another brother who took his own life as well. Chris, the youngest. he was so passionate about wrestling but had brittle bones & bad athsma. ultimately it was all too much for him. just a tragedy all around
Man this movie was great, grew up in Dallas, Texas in the 2000s. Never realized the great history that Texas has with wrestling.
Such a crazy story! Stone Cold and Undertaker are both Texas boys too
I went and watched this yesterday. Cried in the theatre, not ashamed to admit that. But for me, greatest movie ever.
Love that, no need to be ashamed at all! Nothing better than finding a movie you love that much. What’re some of your other favourites?
@@WatchMitchWatch other favourites of mine are Jaws, The Grey, Remember The Titans, The Book of Eli.
They actually left out the youngest brother who killed himself as well. Tragic family history.
So insane! Wouldn't even believe it if it wasn't a true story
YEEEEE MITCHY this is the greatest movie commentary on the tube
@@wearemicra #chaseyourdreams
I completely broke down watching this in the theater. Brotherhood is very sacred. Gotta protect it at all cost. Good reaction dawg just earned a sub👍🏾
Thanks mate, I appreciate it! Having a brother myself, this movie made me cry like a baby haha
It’s hard to watch a movie with those damn invisible ninjas cutting onions around you bro.
Straight up. The eye sweats were mental haha
fun fact, there was a 6th brother that also died due to suicide. He was the youngest one and he passed away before kerry did
Fun fact: Kerry's motorcycle accident happened during the daytime, and he crashed into a parked police car.
I hate to speak negatively about the dead, but the guy wasn't exactly a surgeon if ya know what I mean.
Saw this movie yesterday. Still got tears ...
Sorry if I'm late to the party, enjoyed the reaction, wonderful memory you've got for faces.
IF YOU DO SEE THIS, LOOK UP KERRY VON ERICH, HE'S A MOUNTAIN.
No need to apologise. Haha I do indeed, who did I recognise in this film? I don’t remember
Watching all these Iron Claw reactions? Every single one cried. Wow! It wasn't just me.
Haha mate I was a mess
@@WatchMitchWatch So was I. I didn't think they would show Kerry death? In real life, Fritz found Kerry in the woods. In the movie Kerry died in front of the house and Kevin found him. The movie made a jerk out of Fritz. But Holt McCallany? Looked and sounded like Fritz in a scary way. This film hits the soul like no other.
It's only few movies that can make me cry this is one of them
Have you seen Wonder? That movie kills me
+Watch Mitch Watch Kerry had two daughters at the time of his passing. One of them Lacy grew up to be a wrestler herself and chose to carry the Von Erich name. Kevin (the surviving brother) has two sons and two daughters. His sons grew up to become wrestlers themselves and also chose to carry the Von Erich name as their ring names. The one you were talking about that was murdered in his locker room was Bruiser Brody (he wasn't related to the Von Erichs). He was depicted in the movie, he was the wild looking guy who was going over what moves, etc they were gonna do with Kevin & David.
The worst part about the whole thing is, there was more. Chris was cut out completely.
Yeah I know, so sad! Doesn't even seem believable
Are you sure you’re not another Hemsworth brother? Lol. Nice reaction dude! Emotional and tragic story this family had. Subbed!
Hahaha I've heard that many times dw. Thanks mate!
The fact that Zac Efron got passed over on the best actor for this movie due to its late-season release in 2023 is forever going to infuriate me
I always said if I ever had sons....id hope they had this kind of bond. Goofy and fun, tough and ambitious. Boys that I can go "What y'all break NOW?!" to yet have a smile on my face, shake my head and go "ooooooh you guys!"
The actor that plays Kerry looks almost exactly like Marty Janetty in some shots...just saying, IF they'd make a Rockers movie or more realistically an HBK biopic, there should be no questioning who to cast as Janetty
There was another brother Chris that wasn’t in the movie that also committed suicide
Yeah so heartbreaking!
Even sadder when you find out they left out Chris von Erich. He killed himself also. Sad as hell. I live 30 minutes from where they use to live in Denton tx
I grew up watching the Von Erich’s. I remember when all this shit happened. It was rough. There was a whole other brother that committed suicide as well. Chris Von Erich isn’t even in the movie. Ultimately Fritz and Doris buried five of their six sons. Also, Fritz and Doris weren’t nearly as bad in real life as they’re portrayed in the movie. Fritz was hard and rough on the boys, but they loved him and he loved them deeply. By all accounts Doris was an absolute sweetheart in real life.
There’s actually 4 people who were gimmick brothers with the 6 real brothers. Those 4 all died too. That’s not even counting the two people you mentioned at the end.
Great reaction brother. No fake reacting just a genuine reaction. Earned a sub!
Thanks brother! What kind of movies do you usually like to watch reactions for?
@@WatchMitchWatch Anything really. Lately I've seen a lot of people do Arnold reactions but I'm sure you've seen his movies lol.
Wow, can't believe that is her from Liar Liar! Well spotted, man! XD
Yeah, Kerry was the 'Texas Tornado' in the WWF! From what I gather, it was only revealed by the family of his leg injury after he died. It is amazing that he was able to work like that, honestly! Ah, yeah you mentioned Bruser Brody at the end, I think that he was one of the wrestlers in David's first match in this :) Great reaction, man!!
EDIT: Just realised, Liar Liar had "The Claw" as a recurring joke in it! That is kinda weird! XD
I actually think that Zac got too big to play Kevin Von Erich. His body type was more in line with what Kerry looked like. Zac was closer to Kevin's size before he bulked up.
I think he wasn't too big, if they got someone bigger to play Kerry it would have been fine.
@user-sf4py9qc2n Yeah, they cast Kerry too small tbh. Which gave the whole visual of the boys off. Still a great movie.
@oIRONITEo I think Kerry was supposed to be an amalgamation of Kerry and Chris, so he had alot of Kerry's story and Chris' size.
They’re all about 6’1-6’3 but the actors heights were so different, only one of them was close to height and he looked enormous compared to the others
@@WatchMitchWatchI think it was David and he was listed at 6'7, Mike at 6'4.
Great reaction! Got my sub! This movie gets me every time…. Such a sad story.
fuckin love you description of your channel mate, proper class. This film crushed me it was so good
Thanks mate, I appreciate it! What’s next on your radar of movies you’re excited to watch?
Great reaction, watched a few on this movie, as I was a huge Von Erich fan in my youth.
Was a great movie. Have you seen their episode on dark side of the ring?
Yes I have. Incredible.
And it's even sadder when you learn that there was another brother in real life... who also took his own life. He was Chris. They didn't include him in the movie because there was already enough tragedy, so they kind of combined two brothers (Mike and Chris) in one character
Great reaction brother! I am still crying. 😩😩
The guy who portrayed Mike von Erich is an Aussie!
Wow he is too! I had no idea
this is the second time lily james played a pam lol
Haha oh yeah true! Pam Anderson too
Kevin was a little upset with how his father Fritz was portrayed in this film. He understood from a story standpoint that it needed an antagonist of some sort, but his father wasn't as bad as the film makes him out to be. Kevin to this day calls his dad a "decent and honorable man." Kevin blames substance abuse more than any other reason for the deaths of the brothers who took their own lives.
Eh. There's a lot of stories about Fritz that go against what Kevin says about his dad. But then again we don't really know what he was like behind closed doors with the boys.
i mean he can say that bc that his son and sometimes even when parents are shit the kids still defend their parents as a respect ..
@@oIRONITEoVery true. You do have to worry about the where those stories are coming from too though. Most of those stories come from wrestlers that worked for Fritz, and who saw him as "boss/promoter." Wrestlers don't like promoters especially back then, because they were often getting screwed over by the promoters.
They also only saw how Fritz interacted with his sons at the shows when he was again being their boss/promoter. So, they could've seen him being harsh with his sons who were wrestlers working for him, but not seen Fritz at home when he was their dad. So, I tend to trust the son who saw all the sides of his father. But as you said we don't know.
Fritz also gave Kevin a gun near the end of his life. Basically saying that Kevin should kill himself like his brothers did.
Well of course hes gunna say that. Its his dad
Actually there were 6 brothers. They did not include Chris. Who also committed suicide.
So insane. Hard to believe really
Watch DARK SIDE OF THE RING! Their episode is INSANE! Kevins sons have actually been on AEW with Dustin Rhodes (aka Golddust) and they...are...KICK ASS!!!!
I completely agree with your take on Flair.
What a movie though. Heartbreaking 💔
Really was! So hard to believe it's true
Ric Flair should’ve been casted by Dean Norris or Anthony Starr.
Basically anyone but the guy that was cast
4:55 to 4:57 gets me every time haha 😆🤣
Hahaha that scene killed me
When me and my son and my girlfriend saw it in theaters xmas day that day I thought David was saying at first " yaba daba doo " That took me out 😅😅😅😅
100% agree on the actor for Ric. Was the only letdown of the movie for me. Everything else was chefs kiss.
Neil's point went right over his head. I'm kind of surprised jeff doesn't understand with his vastly deep background in academia and biological research.
Mitch, there was also another brother Chris who isn’t mentioned as he also died by suicide.
Mitch, I found out that there was actually 6 brothers.
Ric Flair was my ONLY disappointment ...up until I saw him with his head soaking in blood lololol
Kevin von Erich is listed at 6'2 but Zac Efron is 5'8 on a good day!
Yeah that annoyed me a little, I can't lie
I also wonder who puts their baby in movies and a lot of times it’s someone’s baby who was already going to be on set. Like hey just bring your kid and we will do a scene
That makes more sense!
Your reaction to Ric Flair was funny because that was a lot of peoples biggest critique. Just bad casting and wasn’t like Ric at all
Yeah it was terrible. I'm not sure how it got across the line tbh
“I used to be a brother”
That line nearly killed me
Great movie.
Wccw was buy out and wcw was it.
Everyone agrees that Rick Flair casting was bad! Maybe he was a producer son?
That would explain it haha
David was married to his second wife when he passed. His first marriage had fallen apart when their 13-week-old daughter passed away from SIDS, and Kerry had two daughters at the time of his passing.
Damn, so much heartbreak in one family
+You mean Kerry had two daughters at the time of his passing. Kevin is still alive and has 2 sons and 2 daughters.
@@buffyjosmom SOB, I freaking suck. I'm editing now.
@@stonecoldku4161No you don't, its an easy mistake to make.
To be fair to the guy playing Ric Flair.... nobody can be Ric Flair but Ric Flair. Anything that comes close would just look like a cheap imitation,... but anything that doesn't, just looks bad. It was essentially a lose-lose all around
Rick flair was the only complaint I had !
Me and you both!
In the defense of the casting choice. You can’t duplicate ric flair
You just can’t
Watch Warrior with Tom Hardy Great movie
One of the best!
if you watch the early Ric Flair promo, I think it's a pretty solid job.
yeah flair was weird
Really took me out of it
😍😍😍
I would watch you watch grass grow
Hahaha thank you. Unfortunately I think I'd only get 1 viewer if I did that
@@WatchMitchWatch 😂😂
There's a sixth brother. Wrestler. That kills himself. They left that out of the movie.
Chris
Yeah, I've learnt that after the fact. So sad
They left out of brother, Chris.
It almost should've been a mini series the amount of story they had to tell
@@WatchMitchWatch So true.
dIdnt like the movie, didnt like the actors they cast to play the von erichs, didnt like them leaving the little brother out. the actor playing Kerry wasnt big enuff or good lookin enuff, efrons hair was RIDICULOUS, it was a good enuff movie to watch but dissapoints in the end, i remember kevin and kerry so well, they were like GOLDEN GODS, these guys wernt.
yeah this film fucked me up
Big time. Not sure if I'll ever be the same haha
The part in heaven is true he sent a text back and said “ey it’s sick here I got a little boat ”
What do you mean?
The Iron Claw film was during the era of World Class Championship Wrestling. This was the territory of Fritz Von Erich and his sons. This was the era of Harley Race, Ric Flair, Bruiser Brody, Jerry Lawler, The Great Kabuki, Kamala, Tommy Rich, The Missing Link and The Fabulous Freebirds. Rest in Peace Texas Tornado. The Iron Claw film shows the hardships and tragedies of the Von Erich family. The film needed two more music montages in the first 45 minutes of the movie since the story dragged at the beginning, but it then picked up for the rest of the film. The only acting weak link in the film came from the actor who portrayed Ric Flair who was atrocious in the role. The next pro wrestling family that deserves a film is the Hart family from Canada. After all, Bret Hart has endured emotional heartbreak from losing those closest around him like Brian Pillman, The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith, Jim Neidhart, his brother Owen Hart and very good friends like Rick Rude and Mr. Perfect. Bret was also screwed out of the World Title, went through a bad divorce and was retired by a bad kick from Bill Goldberg.

that movie was so sad
I was a mess watching it haha
