    Distilling by that method won't work and is neither ideal. :(

      Hi, it depends on what you want to extract. Distillation is a way to extract volatile phyto chemicals such as those with plants scents. These compounds are great anti oxidants, anti bacterial and anti inflammatory. For Salicylic acid, tincture is a more effective way to extract due to its high solubility in alcohol. You may watch my next video about reducing alcohol level from tincture by distillation. I hope this can help answer your questions.

      @@LeTimeLeo Phenols perhaps but certainly not Salicin. You'll find the boiling point and vapour point too high. Best way is to break down as fine as one can and then enthuse in room temperature wate for atleast 24 hours. Doesn't get any more simple than that and no need for distillation. Spot of lemon juice, (citric acid) may assist with the phenols but again no real need.

    Can I use fresh shaved willow?

    • @LeTimeLeo
      @LeTimeLeo  3 года назад +2

      Yes, more matured trees have higher concentrations of salicin. Difference is fresh has more moisture then dried so yield can be lower. Please watch my coming video about extraction of nonvolatile chemicals, like salicin.
