Willow Tree Bark is a brilliant pain reliever🍃For one month I drank a cup of white willow bark tea for inflammation pain and headaches, it worked wonders. Fantastic episode 🌼 Thank You
I also have psoriasis arthritis, but with moderate psoriasis. Have you ever had plaques? UVB rays is the only natural thing that has controlled my psoriasis, but 99% is on my scalp, and sun can't penetrate enough. I'm very interested in trying this tea since salycilic acid works so well topically for me as short-term relief.
@@lorikucharski7001 a clean whole food diet helps more than anything! I have little to no psoriasis but sometimes on my head. Usually during a flair up from stress or eating things I shouldn’t. I love white willow bark for pain(I use a tincture I make). No plaques.
I have both your books & love them to learn. I haven’t made many herbal preparations yet but hope to find some local willow bark; we have lots growing here in Central Alberta, Canada. Thanks for sharing!
We generally use White Willow (Salix alba) and Black Willow (Salix nigra) for herbal medicine. Rosalee and Emily also cover willow very nicely in a chapter of Wild Remedies. ~Karin Rose
loved your video...wish you would spend more time on choosing the willow tree..alot of info ive seen shows the weeping willow tree..but the article you showed that the weeping willow is not the one to use... would love to get your response
hi Rosalee! Thank you for another excellent episode! Do you know how you might prepare a hops/willow facial wash? Would you use a combination of the teas? Thank you again for your incredible work! I love the podcast
You could make a tea but you would have to make it new every day (it won't preserve). Another option is to make an extract with witch hazel distillate.
I have about 10 days remaining on my Willow Bark tincture to hit the 8 week mark. Then I plan to strain it carefully and put in dark glass bottles for future use. I am anxious to see how it works for me!
@@michelefarrell6717 it works pretty well. I have a prescription medication I must take daily, so I always check with a pharmacist to ensure there is no contraindication with any natural preparation I plan to use.
The type of willow that grows near me on the riverbanks of Colorado is Common name Narrowleaf Willow, Scientific Name: Salix exigua, Type: Shrub. would this be good for willow bark (twig) tincture or tea?
That’s my question…. I live in northern Minnesota and we have what we call pussy willow that grow along ponds, lakes and bog areas. I’m off to find an answer 😊 Blessings
@@HerbsWithRosalee Thank you. I planted two arnica plants this Spring, each in 3" pots. I am so anxious to see them grow into lovely medicinal herbs. Perennials, sleep the first year, creep the second year and LEAP the third year. :0)
I absolutely love your videos!! I’m about to make a willow bark tincture and have a question. Should or can willow bark be taken everyday as a means to keep inflammation down in the body or should it only be used for actual pain relief? In other words, can it be used as preventative medicine? Thank you so much for all the great info u provide! I’m considering your herbal course because I think you and your team are amazing!
I don't think of willow as being preventive. Normally our preventive herbs are also nourishing in nature. But that's just my take on it. You can take it long term to address existing inflammation/pain, but yeah, as far as prevention I would personally turn to other means.
Hello Rosalie. I am looking into online courses for herbalists. Do you have any recommendations for good trusted online herbal shcools i could look into? I studied eastern medicine in highschool. I would really like to get certified and apply my knowledge to my permaculture farm. ❤ thank you so much for your knowledge
Yay! That's exciting! I have a couple of articles about this that I think will be helpful: www.herbalremediesadvice.org/herbal-medicine-courses.html AND www.herbalremediesadvice.org/become-clinical-herbalist.html One main point is that certification within the herbal world in the U.S. isn't standardized, which means it holds no actual legal standing. So it's best to find the school that teaches what you want to learn and how you want to learn it (rather than seek out a certification).
Thanks for mentioning this. I am not aware of it being a problem in terms of short term use, but it does highlight the need to harvest plants in safe areas that aren't chemically contaminated. It seems like the biggest concern here is willows that are growing on toxic agricultural sites where harmful practices like industrial chemical fertilizers are used.
Generally speaking, less precautions apply when using herbs externally. If there is an allergy response, that could still happen through contact dermatitis. Always best to test a small area before going all in.

I feed it to my horses instead of Bute when needed as Bute can cause stomach and intestinal ulcers
I use willow bark quite often. I have psoriatic arthritis. I have no notable psoriasis

Love your videos sweet friend! Would rather watch yours than anyone else! 🍃🌿 As an "herbalist in training", I have so many dang questions!
Thank you Rosalee for the info I usually use willow park soak in water for rooting hormone.
Fantastic information! I made willow bark tincture 2 years ago and also made cold process soap from the dried leaves. Super amazing!!
Sounds awesome!
It worked great for Covid too. I had a horrible headache when I had covid. White willow bark helped with the headache, and with any other aches I had.
I really enjoy watching and learning from you . Thank you for your kindness , knowledge and wisdom

Wonderful information! I have and use your books a lot. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and knowledge.
Wonderful information as usual. Thank you for sharing Rose.
Is willow tree bark ok for someone with an allergy to Willow tree pollen?
If you had an allergy to aspirin I would be more concerned. In any case, it's a good idea to proceed with caution.
Thank you. Just found your channel and can't wait to watch more of your videos.

Can you harvest willow bark in the fall? If so is the medicine as potent as it is in spring?
I definitely just subscribed!!!! Great info and great presentation ❤

Welcome aboard!
I made a willow bark tincture using vodka with your guidance. Can I use the tincture topically for pain?
Yes! Used like that we call it a liniment and it's a great way to address pain. Arnica is another plant I love as a topical liniment.

In general, ornamental or hybrid plants, don't always have the same medicinal punch. Taste would be one indication.

Silly question: i have a willow and have thought of it as a “Pussy Willow”
Is this the same plant you’re talking about?🤔
It's probably a willow tree, because they are commonly called pussy willows, but it's hard to say what species that may be.
