    So much I didn't know about Goldenrod - thank you! This week I made a delicious trout in a lemon butter sauce with Garlic, Thyme and Goldenrod flowers 😋 I will be infusing into honey as well 💛 Also, here's a fun fact: after the Boston Tea Party, the colonists turned to local plants and drank Goldenrod tea. There were many “liberty tea” concoctions, which included red clover, chamomile, and other plants. 🎵Oh beautiful, for spacious skies, For amber waves of Goldenrod!🎵 🤭

    I’ve used goldenrod leaf, just lightly chewed it up and placed it as a poultice on plantar warts and they are gone in three days. I reapply each day and cover gently with a bandaid to keep it in place.

    Goldenrod fills my meadows in late summer. It makes the most beautiful yellow dye, and I use it to treat allergies. I did not know people thought it caused them. I appreciate learning the other uses of this wonderfully abundant and cheerful medicine.

    You really caught my ear when you mentioned golden rod tincture for cat dander allergies. I developed an allergy to (most) cats a few decades ago when I was living in a house with what I now suspect was a mold problem. I have had problems ever since and use inhalers to keep things manageable. I think I'll give golden rod a try!

It is helping his allergies. We do have the Canadian variety blooming right now in Oklahoma. Thank you so much for the lesson! Cynthia 🌿🌙💚

    Thanks for your information. I have been trying to learn as much as i can about the goldenrod especially since i have a field full of them. So far i have 1qt. flowers with volka. 1qt.leaves with volka. and boiled a pot of flowers in water to try and make a tea concentrate. I may jar that in 1/2 pt jars water bath, 10 minutes to seal.
    I want to pick more but not sure my best was to preserve. I do not have a dehydrator. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    • @HerbsWithRosalee
      @HerbsWithRosalee  Год назад

      I think drying the plant is the best way to preserve. If you live in a really humid environment then a dehydrator can be helpful. You can also use the pilot light of a stove. I live in a dry climate and don't use a dehydrator. I'd be interested in hearing how your tea canning experiment goes but, unfortunately, I doubt that will work. Herbal tea has no preservation values and lasts about one day. I'm not sure that canning will do much to preserve it further - but I could be wrong as I haven't actually tried it myself.

    • @HerbsWithRosalee
      @HerbsWithRosalee  Год назад

      I'd also be curious as to why you need so much goldenrod preserved. Two quarts is A LOT for personal use. If you made it with the folk method and it's weak that's one thing but if you used the ratio method and have potent medicinal strength tinctures then you've got quite a lot (unless you have a clinic or something like that). Over the years I've had to learn to make smaller amounts to not waste the plant as well as my own time and energy (and money). The good thing is that more will grow next year. I talk about this more in my episode about my biggest mistakes in herbalism.

    Thank you so much for the amazing content! I just found your channel and subscribed. Do you feel like goldenrod is a good choice for fluid in the ears with no infection that turns into mucus? It seems like the best fit I have found so far. Apparently in TCM the ears are connected to the kidneys and goldenrod has an affinity for pairs in the body. I learned that from another herbalist's youtube channel. I'm so excited to try it.

    • @HerbsWithRosalee

    Does anyone know if solidago gigantea has any of these benefits as far as being good for the kidneys, the bladder, pairs of organs, the upper respiratory system, and moving out stubborn mucus? I thought I was buying candensis from Mountain Rose, but when it arrived (facepalm), I realized I had forgotten to check the latin name, and I got a whole pound of gigantea.
