I have cornered myself for years only using vcarve as a hobbyist user. I just haven't explored outside that box. I paid allot for it. Haven't made any money with it...yet. After watching so many videos on what's available outside that vectric "box" I realize vcarve has lots to be desired. Carbide create has a similar UI but it looks much more intuitive and easier to use.
I liked the Video The flag you made is great. But I did not like the fact that if I want to make this I have to learn another program. Is there not a way this could have been designed using CC to do the whole project. Jeff
If you were to download an SVG outline of the US (instead of a black and white bitmap image) - then you could just import that directly into carbide create, and skip inkscape all together
Only on the internet do you need to say 'US American flag' because if you say just American then people will literally go out of their way to say how 'well actually the world doesn't revolve around US, there are many countries that make up America and they're not just you!' or some snide comment. Anyways interesting video :)
No, no, no. Why do all the boolean work when you can start with the pockets of the stripes as a group, then the rest of the flag, then do the cutout *afterwards*!
Winston or anyone who can help😳😳 I have a BRAND NEW shapeoko XXL that is a few days shy of a month old😳 I have been able to cut several designs out with it and it’s worked fine up until today 😢 TODAY it gets about a quarter way through any project I TRY TO cut and it stops and it tells me that ERROR 5 SERIAL PORT RESOURCE ERROR? Can anyone help? I have disconnected the power and reconnected it hoping that it will solve the problem but it does not? And I have called and emailed carbide 3-D! ❤️🎄Santas workshop has a list of Christmas gifts and must come out of the workshop time is of the essence🎄🎄
The outer flag rectangle that I deleted at 4:15? If so, I deleted that since it wasn’t necessary for the design. The outline for the project becomes the US outline so I was removing the “extra”. Does that help?
Thank you! That small tutorial answered a lot of questions. Love the design!
Marie Thank you! I can’t wait to see how it turns out for everyone
You used inlscape just for bitmap traceing, carbide create should have this feature.
Waiting for my Shapeoko to arrive, can't wait to try this design. Thank you
Thanks Sara, great info
another good one sara!
Awesome video!! Thanks

Great video, answered some questions for this rookie.
OOO you are a good teacher....
What stain did you use and how did you complete that portion of the project?
I would bet that its Varathane Wood stain. The blue should come in "Worn Navy" I like Varathanes thicker viscosity and use it all the time.
How does your version of carbide create show you an estimated tool path time. Is that just a windows feature. I'm using a mac.
It's a new feature, you just need to upgrade to the latest version.
I'm about to make this using your files from CutRocket!
Why not just bitmap and fill? Then use it to create your paths?

David W. Smith That’s a good way to do it too

Anyway u can upload those g codes?
I liked it but got confused
Terry Dockery thanks for the feedback! Which parts got confusing for you? I’ll try to do better in future videos 😊
When you started removing the outer part of flag
The outer flag rectangle that I deleted at 4:15? If so, I deleted that since it wasn’t necessary for the design. The outline for the project becomes the US outline so I was removing the “extra”. Does that help?
@@hearthhomedesigns7114 it's not you sorry I'm just a old fart I will watch again and pause and work as you go you are a very smart and talented
Terry Thank you! Let me know if you get confused or stuck anywhere else. I’ll be happy to walk you through it
