Really enjoy your videos and find them educational. You showed how to set up each of the Tool Paths except the Advanced V-Carve, it was just all of a sudden there and is the one that is the most complicated to set up. ???
im a little late to the party, but im curious how the advanced v-carve works when using a machine that cant swap bits automatically. is there a pause built in somehow, or perhaps it just isnt a usable option in this case. Thanks!
Hi Meat...I don't do a lot of crazy g-code changes, I use whatever carbide create makes.. with that said, here is what i know. 1. The advanced v-carve requires the bitsetter for it to work. The bitsetter measures both the endmill tool and the vbit tool to ensure that they reference the same z zero and therefore does not require you to manually set your z zero after the first tool (endmill). 2. With that said, there are those that know how to modify gcodes and are able to use the advanced vcarve toolpath without using a bitsetter. but this is the only other way. I know not much help but i hope that clarifies some things.
@aetimberpine i appreciate your input a lot! And it seems it was a nice sanity check. I had come to the same conclusion about needing a bitsetter... But a standard gcode file *can* be edited in any text editor... It seems it's just a matter of deciphering which steps tell it to change bits, cut/paste to a new doc from there, and adding pre- and postamble to both... I don't want my first adventure in CNC to be tool destruction, so i will steer clear of adj v-carve for now! Thanks again. I'll keep watching your work too!
Just bought a shapeoko xxl second hand, your videos in my opinion are some of the best for a beginner. I hope to get a first cut in the next few days.
Thank you lendley! I appreciate it! Welcome to the club!
Great instruction Edgar, no fancy annoying music. Keep this up love your channel 🇬🇧
Thank you Fridge. I appreciate the feedback!
Very clearly explained! Thanks for filling in some of the knowledge gaps I've had, but couldn't figure out how to solve. Fantastic!
glad it helped. thanks for watching.
Great video- feel like I can actually go use my cnc now! Thank you, I look forward to watching your other videos.
Glad it helped! Check out my other videos, I have tons of content that may be able to get you started.
NOW it's starting to make some sense. Thanks.

Thank you. It's starting to come together.
Edgar, thanks for primer…a good review never hurts. Plus, you can’t tell ahead of time if you were able to scoop up a new CNC-er.
Thank you Tim!!
For the advance v-carve, that one flat bottom v drill will do the whole sign?
I see, the v bit is used after the end mill bit.

Do you know what default Cnc settings are for a 3018 pro? I am a beginner.
Hey Iggy unfortunately I do not know those settings.
I’m liking carbide create.
It’s been great for me and for what I need to make. There are others that are better with more options but this has been fine for me.
Thanks!
Thanks Edgar
Thank you Al
What part of California are you from?
Stereo
I know!!! 🤦🏻♂️
Idk what happened with this audio. Thanks for the feedback!
As soon as you finished your intro the audio went out. Please check your video and correct the problem.
For some reason when I got on portrait mode on my phone volume is reduced but is fine when I’m in landscape. Try that. Thank you for the feedback.
