“A little trimming and she will fit like a glove” love this channel ❤️✌️ Thank you for sharing Paul.
I can’t get enough of this channel. Watching you drill a few holes and hook up some hoses… is still the best show on RUclips. Happy trails FabRats!
6:39
Paul you left us hanging, literally hanging in thin air at 6:39. We need a story teller to fill in the gaps about this one.
Great job guys....good thing there are no warm air leaks in the door area....lol
Thats an easy fix because saved the original full door's that were on the FJ.
Oh i was wondering if they had those still, thanks
As a standard, switches are normally oriented such that when you want to turn something on, you flip the switch upward, not downward.
Unless you live in Australia or England and a lot of other places outside USA
You should put a light next to it to remind you to turn it off so you don’t kill your batteries unless you’re running through the ignition switch make sure all your pressure cut outs work High and low pressure
Love this channel so much. Shows as he goes, successes and mistakes; then fixes. Minimal “scripted” dialog .
The scripted sponsor spots are hilarious to watch though.
@@2thehat I am tagged onto my son’s premium, so I guess I don’t see them.
@@2thehat the interactions between the various characters makes this show for me unique and endlessly watchable.
I'd feel better though if Paul would just let it go that he's his big brother's boss.
I'm just as guilty, I'm the oldest of three brothers, get the sibling rivalries.
Let Ben drive once in a while, have his wife & kids on camera a bit more often.
Those barbs are ok to start with, but the cumulitive 'drip drip' effect, will play on Ben, could poison the brilliant work atmosphere the boys have there.
@@gordonmurray3153 They’re doing okay with it for now. 100% understand your point. It seems like Ben’s getting more of a place in the channel. But in Paul’s defense, it took Ben a little time to warm up, too. We’ll see what happens.
Need the back story of that picture you put up of Hunter's handy work!!!!
Paul you should put hinges on your fenders. Let them open up like barn doors that way will save you time when you need to work on it. Just saying lol 😆
Hah!
Nothing better than working on a project and showing it off to the wife! That is one awesome machine that like most toys, never done!!.
I’d like some more details on how Hunter accomplished that spectacular parking job.
Right? Can't just tease us with a picture like that and not give us the details.
it's called FULL SEND!
if he needs money to buy a G wagon, there is a lady in Michigan who cant parallel park... even with a park assist equipped car... $1 a cone hit and he would be living next to the Whats Inside family!
They had a video on it.
Now put some boat style gimbal drink holders. So you don’t need to hold your cups
I am super impressed by Hunter's handy work.
I'm an old school fabricator and I'm also dyslexic and to see you go out and you start using that plasma cutter that's awesome great job
I’m just a little old man in the karst land of southern Indiana, raising chickens and kittens, but I love me some Fab Rats. Hoping Santa brings me a chilling shirt for Christmas.
The early A/C systems often operated like yours. One switch for the fan and one to activate the compressor. If you turned on the compressor and forgot to turn on the fan, you might get some ice coming out the vents once you kicked on the fan. Fun stuff. Keep up the good work and I'm glad to see you wearing your seat belts. Thank you for showing us your mistakes. That way, we all learn something.
Thank you for posting new videos you give me motivation to get moving and get my projects done, also everybody else is veering off on different contact I'm happy you're keeping it original I went back to watch most of your videos keep keeping it real
@ 6:35 "Some of Hunter's handy work"🤣 I'd like to see more of Hunter!🚧
While I’m sure the guys are quite skilled at drilling in metal one thing I’ve learned over years of drilling into electrical cabinets and boxes with hole saws and plug cutters is to go slow, that is a lot lower than you’d think with your RPM, and keep the pressure up, PUSH. Watching the attempted cut with the hole saw seemed like a very high speed which quickly heats up and tends to quickly dull the cutting teeth. Also though bi-metal blades aren’t cheap and therefor able to be attained in numerous sizes it’s hard to beat carbide hole saws for cutting metal up to 10 gauge like it was butter.
My Milwaukee Hole Dozer kit is one of the best drill bit purchases I've ever made. They seem to enjoy eating metal and they don't seem to dull. I do use oil when drilling too.
@@sixupsprite5501Rapid Tap!
Great cutting oil.
@@sixupsprite5501: I have never had good luck with Milwaukee bi-metal hole saws for drilling into metal but I have used and really like their carbide hole saws for cutting through wood. These blast through wood faster even than self feed bits and do it without having to remove so much material; the donuts that are left also drop right out, unlike bi-metal hole saws. I’m also not a big fan of Diablo carbide hole saws but I think that’s more about their quick change collar system and that I just have so much of the thread type infrastructure.
I imagine the Milwaukee carbides would go through metal quite easily as they cut through nails and hardened screws like they aren’t there.
@@sixupsprite5501 oil is a big help when drilling saves the life of the drill.. with out oil the steel get red hot then it gets hard / tempered then you will burn bits like crazy .. rather smell burning oil then burning bits ..
@@randytravis3998 Heating the steel you are cutting to red-hot doesn't make it hard. (Steel doesn't get hard by heating it up-- you would have to get it red hot and then quench it, quickly bringing the temp back down. And even that will only really make it hard if it's high-carbon steel.). It's more likely that the heating of the steel is paired with heating of your hole saw, which is taking the temper out of it and allowing the cutting edge to quickly dull.
Ben, I have had jobs where I would have yelled "yeah" if they threatened to fire me, but the only time I was let go, it kind of STUNK because I was not expecting it. It was not my fault either which also STUNK. It cost me my house in Dayton, Ohio, and marred my credit for a few years. We had to spend $60K in rent, until we could buy our next house. God is Good
and now we have lived in the same area for over 13 years and have not had to look for other jobs!
Looking pretty good. All she needs is some good cup holders for the Mtn-Dew.
Truly amazing what you’ve accomplished with this beast of a machine ! it’s really come a long way ! you guys are masterful at what you do ,I love the channel and I love all your projects! keep up the great videos and great work!👍🏼🤩❤️

A deicing and defog duct will be needed along the front of that roll bar near
the bottom of the windshield to keep fogging off the inside glass and melt
frost or snow on the outside surface. Cab fans directing air onto the inside
of the windshield could work for that too as an alternative or backup.
Up to 15 years ago the wife and I only had 2/80 air, 2 windows down and doin 80mph! We’d even truck across the Mohave desert mid summer back and forth to CA, Phoenix and Vegas but we were younger. Today you better have AC or I’m sittin this one out, lol ………great channel as always!
THE FJ IS REALLY TURNING OUT SWEET WITH ALL THE COMFY STUFF BEING ADDED TOO.
Let's goooo.
Everyone go to cleetus page an tell him to get the demo derby on the schedule for the end of this year!!!
Another good video. I love to see Paul and Ben work on anything together. Brothers are just awesome.
❤️❤️👍👍🙏🙏🌟🌟❤️❤️
Cool video 🥶
A couple weeks ago one of the truck drivers at work told me the AC in his Peterbuilt was not working and of course it was a 100 degree day. Well the compressor seal failed. So I put a new compressor on it. Charged it up 103 degrees day had 39 degrees out the dash vents. The next day the driver told me he had to turn the vents so they were not blowing on him as it was to cold and made his hands ache. So I told him stop complaining at least it keeps him cool now on really hot days.
Plasma table tip. Get yourself a plastic tub, maybe one of the ones the wife brought in, make a mixture of 80% water 20% muratic acid. Then you can put the parts you make on the plasma table in it to soak for a few minutes and it will make all the mill scale and dross just wipe off.
This old truck needs a proper paint job. I know the Rat Rod / Barn Find look is cool but this is so rare and so cool it really should be painted in my opinion. Thanks for all of the great content.
You should make a sign with that cutter thing out of scrap that says: "No Welding near Car Seats." or "Ashes to ashes, Rust to Dust, Rub against Rocks and Nothing will Bust."
Chad is a priceless asset around these parts 😂😂
and a heck of a nice guy!
I'm at work , I go on break and watch , y'all work. Wish it was a longer video so I could have takin a longer break 😂😂.
Look at that beautiful, clear windshield….!!! No sand blast…
There’s nothing like putting new glass in an old vehicle to make it just feel better. I don’t mind old bubbly side glass, it’s even kinda cool, but a perfect new windshield just makes my outlook better.
Sorry about rubbing salt in the wounds Junior, but that glass is beautiful. Take a good look at your mom‘s windshield maybe next Mother’s Day, or birthday you can team up with your brother or cousins and fix her up too. LOL
We tapped into the AC ductwork with a 2" hose to the engine air intake, the AC draws power from the engine but the cold air to the intake makes up for it. Also helps in extreme cold situations by sending warm air to the intake. Keep up the Great Videos!!! 👍👍
I really dont think that helps at all. But to each their own.
@@goodbyemr.anderson5065 You've never noticed your car runs better in cooler and rainy weather than hot days? You've never heard of intercoolers that cool the engine intake air by 10 degrees and get 20hp gain????? Might want to check out some studies and tests and call the folks who build the $Thousand dollar intercoolers for semi trucks and tell them in your Vast Armchair Wisdom that cooler air to the engine intake doesn't make a difference. They'll Laugh you right off the phone call !!!
FabRats to 1,000,000
I'm always excited when FabRats Upload!
Off to work tonight.. it is what it is…then Fab Rats flashes up a new video.. life isn’t so bad..
Based on that pic of Hunter's handiwork 6:39, he'll fit in at Fab Rats just fine!
Just a suggestion, you can purchase a used “portable” aviation intercom for two headsets off of eBay for around $100 and you can find new or used headsets on eBay also. It’s noise canceling and would give the driver and passenger awesome communication without having to yell. Added bonus of hearing protection. Just a suggestion. Thanks for the always entertaining videos, keep up the great content and the always positive attitudes, it’s contagious 👍😁
need eye protection, especially in close proximity to high speed tools & metal arc cutting, but you'll wear hearing protection! - Paul! kids are watching. greatly appreciate respectful comradery these guys have with others who work on projects (wiring) when Paul can just call up and get wiring confirmation. Fab.Rat decal is nice touch on "Cool" 4.wheeler. Thanx fer showin!
The FJ is sweet, it reminds me of the Munster mobile, lol. Who didn't love the Munster mobile? Paul your ability to create what comes out of your thoughts and make a reality along with the help of Ben and Chad other friends and family is remarkable! Your hard work ethic and the love for your family and values has blessed you and all around you! I know you'll continue to do what you do, and do best and we'll continue to watch! Till then take care...
Awesome video guys! You gotta have AC down here in South Carolina! It's the land of swamp butt!
Great video guys.
Really made me chuckle at the “alright so”
I realized last year making videos for school that I do the same thing. I started using it as an editing start stop point on videos. Lol
More info on the plasma table. That looks affordable for the backyard shop.
Defroster vents for those UT winters??
Thought while you had the roll bar out you would make it a family cage for the special little ones that ride in the back.
Another great Fab video!
Received my Fab Rats hoodie yesterday and wearing it today! Thanks, guys!!
Amazing skills and knowledge!! Love your videos. 👍🏽👍🏽
I used to have a vent under the steering wheel column on my 85 land cruiser pointing to the crotch. And it was AWESOME!!!
It’s been a great transformation since you got this. Great work Paul!
AC is always good when it's hot out. Especially if you're off roading or rock climbing. Very cool.
First it was to hot and then it was too cold. The Ben and Paul made it juuuusssttt right.
That rare fabricator who knows all of the old school methods, but still embraces newer technologies. You are a rare breed my friend!
Wish I had a Chad! He IS amazing!
So glad you got the FJ45 cooler than it was!
Another great project to watch and learn from.
Thank you all!
How is Randall doing?!?!?! WE need to know! We miss him!!
A woman that gives up a [plastic tub!!??!! She's a keeper!
Yeah you now have AC in the FJ! Nice improvements are taking place at Fab rats on the vehicle's used for recovery and rock crawling and the best part about it it's Ben, Michelle and Grandma Lally approved!
A good source for 1/8” rubber is the stuff that’s used to vulcanizing conveyer belts
Love your videos!! Yup... cold air (when it's hot outside) is a definite MUST!! You guys did an amazing job getting all that equipment and wiring stuffed under that small dash!!
@ 3:49 🧀🫕😆😂🤣 I love it, made me chuckle
It's been a long time since I owned a land Cruiser but I believe the light you said looked like a motel peep hole was the 4x4 indicator light.
Great vid. Nothing better than getting crushed ice with My. Dew on hot day..
On the top shelf of the slickest things to build a crawler out of is the old FJ stuff …and the 45 is just coolest of the bunch! You know you’re in wheeling country when you see people driving around with red labels on the street..lol
“Queso” music and sound are so good that it almost o overcomes Paul’s sublime charm.
Y’all keep on gettin’ it done.
Gotta be honest "hunter's handy work" is kinda impressive... that takes balls and a half a bit of skill
i findly worked it out,ben is the smart one...that was his words....dont mean to be a stirrer,,,,,,,,,,,love your show...
paul might gust have to smarten up some hay
I love the music Michelle picks. For some reason it reminds me of the silly movie RV with Robin Williams. Always makes me smile.
thanks for the info on the hvac company you installed
Nothing like home made AC with the five step turn on plan. Where there is a will, there is a way. Thanks for the knowledge.
Yay, A/C done before the end of summer!
Get Michelle to sew up a “pouch” that you can install in that glove box hole🤔 Prolly be useful as a small pocket pouch for youse guys😉👌
Make some hinges and put some plexiglass windows for the highway and then you can take them off and throw them in the back whenever we go willing then I'll be really nice coolant cool and warm in the winter time
Your logo really popped on that blue driver's door. Love it!
Coming from Midwest I would say Michelle trade in sandals for boots and point that 4th one at the windshield
A lot got done on this day. I really liked how the bed liner looked after being sprayed. Kudos on another great video.
pond liner makes a good gasket
...floor mats, mud flaps
1:20am and I've just gotten in from giving my lathe a birthday.
Perfect.
Paul, You should wire your compressor switch in series with the fan switch so there is no possibility of running the compressor with-out air movement, possibly destroying your compressor.
Hunter's delima reminded me of me when I was that age. I had taken my dad's truck way up in the mountains and got stuck. There was some pieces of chain link close by that I used for traction unfortunately it caught on the driveline and got wrapped up. I hiked out for help. It rained heavy that night. When we got back the next morning it looked almost exactly like Hunter's, bumper on both sides of the canyon everything washed out below us. Took tow trucks to get it extricated. Lol.
Nice work! The door decals are awesome, love the content. Can't wait for the next project.
All you need now is to take that fancy plasma cutter and fab up some cup holders that swivel. That way whether you're on road or on the trails your cup doesn't tip over.
You've overlooked the most important thing..... cup holders!! Gotta have at least 6 of 'em!!!!
Man that looks great!! Nice work Paul and Ben that bed and floor made it look way better, I still think you should put a thick clear coat over the rest of the truck
I love Raptor Liner! My Tacoma is entirely covered in it and it looks like the pros sprayed the stuff on. And at a fraction of the cost. You can't beat the stuff. Kind of literally.
I just wonder why they used black. That will be a hot ride in the sun in the back. I had a fine convertible in my day with a black interior and on a summer trip the seats were painful. Heat will radiate off that floor while in the sun.
@@larrybe2900 You can do different colors with Raptor Liner, but it's probably double the cost. From what I understand you have to buy the tintable version of the liner and then a separate topcoat.
Another great visit the fabrats neighborhood.
Bless you guys ..thanks for sharing :)
Better than not having it! Such a vote of confidence!
You guys are great and I don’t miss an episode.
Using that WizBang with no safety’s is going to be painful one day.
I had one shoot 2 metal pieces into my right eye that were big enough to stop my eyelid from closing. It stung a bit.
Michele you are absolutely right, right at the end, you said Looks Good, I am referring to what the image is, in a mirror when your in front of it.......Looks Good.....
Happy Birthday to Paul🎂🎂. Not sure the exact day but I think it is around now. I love watching you &Ben do repairs and build things.
Awesome when you get your boys helping. Keepup the good work and have a great Birthday.
Planning a trip from Florida out west, was worried about snow. So I decided I can go to Vegas, skip Yellowstone head to Utah. Then I saw the FJ packed with ICe and almost said the heck with this trip. Then, this slow old guy, realized you were making a joke about the New A/C! My trip,is back on!
Love the new 1080 60Hz video format, very smooth
You've just about run out of room to add stuff to the FJ. Looking good in the aircon Michelle.😎
Gasket for that flap door... This is unconventional and takes a while, but it works! Put saran wrap on the body. Put silicone sealant on the 'door'. Screw the door in place, but leave it just a bit loose. Let cure. Pull it back off, trim the silicone and pull the saran wrap. Gasket is now permanently a part of the door. (Until you decide to scrape it off.)
So cool. Just waiting for some green color to pop. White, black, red, yellow, blue, no green yet.
Damn, that's a fancy plasma cutter. Livin in the future sure is cool.
Your going to need to print out the instructions and stick it in the dash for the AC, switch valve to heated box off, flip switch A. Durn knob B flip switch C and enjoy!
I used the raptor liner on a club car golf cart body. It worked fantastic.
Really enjoy your videos. When you were placing the vent under the dash I thought you were going to make it able to point to your welder to cool it when in use. Just a thought I had playing armchair fabricator. 😉
🌺Good one fella's..
I gotta fix my a/c on my Gr Marquis too 🙈 it is what it is i reckon, at least a cold front has been blowin through here the last 2 days lol
Keep kool & stay happy ☕👍
Always happy to see the FJ getting some love. I want a FabRats decal that size.
Appears the patina stays.
@@larrybe2900 I sure hope so. I like that look
