    I thought I had tasted all possible dosae until I walked into Pai Brothers Dosa, Ernakulam, a 30+ year-old eatery that makes a mind-boggling 266 varieties! The offerings here are vegetarian, with the inclusion of eggs that seem to be a huge hit with the locals. I tasted two spicy creations, one with quail eggs and the other with chicken eggs. Needing some respite from the heat, we found our way to Mattancherry, where we tasted the thickest avocado shake at Rinoos Cool Bar.     That's just crazy, it reminds me of how pizza went from the perfect tomato, basil, mozzarella, to 100s of toppings. The original pizza is still the best. And I'd hazard a guess that a good plain or masala dosa is still the best.

      True, it does seem to be a lot, especially from a dosae purist perspective. But then, to each his own. And if customers love it, and for over three decades, well, then they certainly seem to have a good thing going! 🙂

      Karnataka has better and good dosas than kerala but tamilnadu tops the list for me in dosa department.

    Years ago when I visited Kerala somewhere near a palace etc.for the first time, I was stunned to see both Vegetarian and non vegetarian food being served under one roof 😎

    I am from kochi even though i live in Bangalore. So happy to see you are trying these legendary age old restaurants like Gokul and Pai.
    But trust me, both of them have lost their charm.
    I still remember the family members of Pai used to make the dosa themselves back then and it used to taste another level. Now they have hired people to cook and it doesnt taste that great now.

    Eating" dosas on steroids" is certainly not my idea of "eating something lite" 😂
    Honestly these doshais didn't seem very appetising. Hopefully they tasted better than they looked! I had reached my threshold as far as watching the video was concerned when you mentioned they wanted to add chocolate to it!

    Please try masala dosa from any of the Indian Coffee House outlets across Kerala. They are known for their beetroot overloaded masala fillings. And their coffee also tastes unique.

    Good afternoon dear Kripal - So it’s the second vlog of the Kochi series . The preview itself was awesome . Look forward to this interesting vlog . Wow the Dosas are named after some movie characters 😀😀 I simply loved the preparation of the Dosas by the chefs . I have never seen such a unique variety of Dosas anywhere . The size of the Dosas is massive . Ha ha ha good comment that the Dosas have some steroids 😀😀 The condiments are also quite yummy to watch . I also love my eggs to be runny when it’s added in any dish . I would love to teleport myself and visit Pai brothers to enjoy the Gundu Dosa 😀 The SI Dosa also looks very appetising ( though I am not a fan of Quail eggs ) . Time to have a cold beverage - An Avacado Shake . I am sure Boss would have loved the Avacado MS . Quite thick and creamy . Glad you enjoyed the Dosas & the AMS 👍👍👍 Thoroughly enjoyed this fabulous vlog . Thanks for educating us on such unique culinary experiences. You also take care , stay healthy and stay blessed 😇.       Hi Rajesh, this was certainly a revelation to me! The dosaes were big, completely loaded and Pai dosa regulars in Kochi certainly seem to love the big flavours from the egg and condiments. Certainly something to try when in the city next, also the avocado shake, which is almost a meal replacement. Cheers!

    Putting different stuff of dosa doesn't matter the chutney and sambhar to it makes the difference unfortunately in this exhibitionist world old dosa charm is lost.

    I am living in Kochi since a year now.
    Iv had Pai Dosa, and as a person from Bangalore, Pai Dose in my opinion has messed up the whole concept of a dose. Plus the hundreds of combinations in the end don’t flair well on your taste buds and goes contradictory to the fundamentals of a good dose.

      Toor dal or chana dal roasted powder added with jeera,salt and Lal mirch powder. It tastes so good on dosa and also in white rice.

    my 2c. I don't know why dosas need to have hen eggs,quali egggs. Just because we have the freedom of choice doesn't mean we have to b incompassionate and steal other'species offspirngs. I definitley don;t mean to be offensive but let us remember that India is the only country on the planet that evolved inthe omst compassionate and developed extensive and expansive vegetraian cuisine as a method to respect all iving beings. Let us keep that tradition alive and spread it , expand it and adopt it. and follow it everyday.

    Pai dosa isn’t good anymore.I personally prefer Dosa from Brindhavan.They keep it simple and the taste is yum.You should have gone to Brindhavan.Pai Dosa is simply filled with toooooo much variety.
