A couple of years ago I was at an eatery in Mysuru, when a few lads walked up to me and in the course of our conversation told me that the Mysore Pak to try was in their hometown, Shimoga. I was amazed at their courage and conviction, standing in Mysuru and praising a Mysore Pak from their hometown. Nonetheless, I made note of their recommendation. And so when I recently did a tour of Shimoga, the Venkatesha Sweet House Mysore Pak was top of my list. Not only did I taste this hugely popular sweet alongside a few other treats, I also caught its making with third generation owner, Prasanna, and his sweet makers of decades. When in Shimoga, definitely visit this 60 year culinary institution.

Sir, U have many fans on RUclips n Insta. This is my request u. Plz tell people to reduce usage of Plastics and keep their city clean. Plastics has reached even the hills in chikkamagaluru now. We have to save Western Ghats.
@neethuk, me too, namma Shivamogga❤❤❤❤
Sir, it's ok that you have visited here but the staff here completely behave out of their line with the customers and they treat them like slaves. I would never visit this delicacy again, it's pathetic. There is no point in going to places like this where you are not treated well.

Correct the title of the Video

Doodh halwa you call there is known as thirsty pal in T.Nadu.
This is Savitha , I'm basically from Bhadravati and I did my graduation from Sahyadri science college, shimoga.

I am from Shivamogga.......my childhood memories can't forget venkatesha sweet house taste specially Mysorepak & Champakali.....best sweet house in the world.
There is no better sweet house than Venkateshwara sweet house and it’s an emotion for all Shimogan’s!
Sir, I'm glad that you are in my hometown and tasting the inimitable Mysore Pak of Venkatesha sweets. With a possible ( maybe I should say probable) exception of Ramnagar Mysore Pak, this is the best Mysore Pak money can buy. Back in the early sixties, The founder -a pioneer & a philanthropist - Manjunath Aithal set up shop by opening a self-service stall at the local Modern Talkies premises. Soon he attracted a large clientele by introducing the taste of a strange new sweet called Sohan Papdi to us Shimoga citizens. But it was the Mysore Pak, which made our taste buds really go wild. Late Shri Aithal's Mysore Pak was our pride, the one gift to our visitors which would never be forgotten. Over the decades the price has naturally changed but the taste and the quality has remained the same. Thanks for visiting Shimoga & making Venkatesha Sweets Mysore Pak known to your viewers! Bon appetit❤🎉
I am also from shimoga
Isn’t it Shivamogga?
@@dcmhsotaeh when we address our dear Gods by a thousand names, why should we insist on limiting our dear city to only one name?
Thank you for this interesting nugget, @ramakrishnashenoy9090

People like Mr Ramanna bear testament to the fact that the culinary culture and heritage of an area are often sculpted by the silent passion of the most unassuming gentlemen. Their skills being forged through decades of single minded pursuit and unwavering commitment to their craft.
He is truly a culinary gem and deserves a lot of credit for his work.

Milkcake is my all time fav
Heatly wel come to our Shimoga sir. 🤝 🙏
Sir I suggest to go to Kumbakonam to find the roots of North Indian sweets in South India. A person named gopal das from khurja (Western) U.P came in in 1902 and settled in Kumbakonam with labour from his nearby villages and sweet shop. Later That labour spread out in measure, bangluru, trichi, coimbatre and entire South India with restaurants and sweets shop named like Chandra bhavan, Bombay Chandra bhavan, (near City market Bangalore), Indra bhavan (maysuru), Arya bhavan, Anand bhavan ect. This was the legacy that was carried out for 110 years but was lost due to a labour problem. Chandra bhavan lodge, Chandra vihar lodging is still there but eateries are closed. They served best idli, vada sambher, kesri bhat, uppit, dosa, jangri, jalebi, badam halwa,, gulab jamoon, maysore Pak, khara, sweet kaju in entire South India. Eateries used to start at 5 am and closed at 9 pm. No one can meet that quality even till date.
I had heard pieces of this account, thank you for sharing.
Happy you are at my hometown Shivamogga
Maybe they can use a bit of cleanliness like, wearing gloves, head cap to avoid any chance of hair getting sweet. This place has really good taste. And with some basic hygiene it would be a complete deal.
Shower cap is very very important
Sir, please taste special Mysore pak at Chitradurga's Kanthi Sweets once in Chitradurga. I am sure you will Love it😊
Kripal great to see and know about sweet shop showcased with each of them having their unique preparations. Thank you Happy Mysore Pak Eating 🙂
Hii sir....I'm happy to see you in my one of my favourite bakery❤❤ Sir you should have also tasted honey cake at venkateshwara 🤤

Our father's place is Shimoga now my brother and sister are in Shimoga , we have tasted this Mysore Pak since our child hood, even we were out side Shimoga our father always brings sweets from this ship. Now also our children likes cylinder shape peda of this shop, Even now my brother used to bring the sweets from this shop. Even we go there we used to visit this shop.
This place is my childhood memories in Late 70”s and early 80’s.its almost 30 years since I been to this place.I would rate this place as one of the top 5 sweet shops in Karnataka.
My favourite is always katum mysore pak. I bought some this Diwali too

Nice vlog love from Shivamogga ❤
Good afternoon dear Kripal - Was awaiting this vlog especially after seeing so many imbecile comments on your vlog snippet . Just ignore them coz they will never ever understand what goes on in the kitchen . Anyways time to log in . The Dappa Khara is similar to our Kara Sev . They also have ring murukku Wow is Champakali similar to Malai Sandwich? The Kesari Ladoo looks yummy 😋. Kudos to the Mysore Pak chef Mr Ramanna for making the sweet dish for 32 years 👍👍 It’s such a tough ask to prepare the MP in a small kitchen but still he is managing the process with a smile on his face. Lovely silken texture of the MP 👌 You have the MP to taste straight from the Kadai 😋😋 I like both kinds of MP , the melt in mouth MP like SKS and the granular one as well . Though I don’t have a sweet tooth but I enjoy watching them 😀 All the sweets are decadent for sure 😀 Having the Onion Pakoda would have been good palate cleanser . Aah now comes the savoury items ( my favourite) . I believe that the owner mentioned about a Mumbai Mixture along with some dry fruits and that’s my favourite 😋😋 and that also happens to be their A 1 Khara 😀 Time to taste the Katum Kutum MP and their special MP 👍 Loved your narrative of the MP . Thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful vlog . You also take care and God bless . Loads of love and respect 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️
Hi Rajesh, glad you enjoyed this one too despite not having a sweet tooth! 😀Yes, in many ways the champakali is similar to a malai sandwich although I feel the malai in a sandwich is finer and it also tends to be dressed up in varak (beaten silver). Also this champakali had tutti frutti, a malai sandwich would have none, and be delicately flavoured with saffron. Take care.
Sir, ur narratiion adds its own flavour to the vlog. Gr8 work connecting indians binding thru food
I have recently relocated to Bangaluru but I feel i know the place thru ur food vlogs.
