We have covered the Shiradi, Charmadi and Sampaje ghat routes in and out of Dakshina Kannada in previous drive vlogs. So on this return trip from Udupi, I thought we should check out the Agumbe ghats. Precariously steep and definitely not for the novice driver, it makes for an exhilarating drive. Enroute we made a couple of appetizing stops, for breakfast and lunch. Hope you find this vlog useful and interesting.

Thank you Kripal. I have health issues and the Vlogers like help me see the outside world. Thank you. Keep going. God bless you.
You are welcome, I wish you a speedy recovery. God bless.
You missed the masala dosa @ Mayura thirthalli
Agumbe ghats are the best ghat to drive on which improves our skills in the narrow curves
From TirthaHalli, the route via Tarikere -Bhadra sanctuary & Dam - Hosadurga - Vanivilas dam - Hiriyur - Blore route is also very good. Less traffic & smooth drive. Takes lesser time compared to Belur route.
Sir I take this route everytime to reach kundapura, it's the best route for a family ❤
Kripal I would like to suggest one more Route which you have not yet explored I believe .
Its Karkala > Bajagoli ( you can reach Ujire from this place by diverting ) > Mala Gate > S.K Border ( Sringeri Koppa Border ) . ( you can divert To Sringeri from here ) to > Samse > Kalasa ( you can divert to Kottigehara > Mudigere from here ) to Magundi > Aldur > Kadur > Bangalore .
This entire stretch Passes through Kuduremukh Reserve Forest . And Coffee estate after Samse Forest gate .
You can visit Tea estate if You divert From Madungi towards Balehonnur . Hornadu temple is also nearby .
You can watch Sahyadri mountain range throughout your journey . Off course there are no such attractive eateries to shoot vedios .
Now its Rainy season and best time to visit .
@@ravip1849 yes bajgoli golibaje

One of our friend ' car got mauled by a Wild Bison in kudremukha reserve road recently.. so proceed with caution especially during dusk and dawn
@@shishirs2007 you should have experience of stopping engine far before or watch around n turn away
@shishirs2007 Baison , Deer , Various types of Snakes , King cobra are common in this Road / Area . Especially Near Lakya Dam area , Ganesh Temple . There is a Forest Camp in Bhagavathi forest . One should be very careful in this area . Few people make Vedio shooting also here . Which is very dangerous .
Getting to the spot to watch the sunset or spotting a king cobra are unforgettable memories. I recall our van being unable to climb the steep road following one of the hairpin bends and the driver having to jump out to find a rock to shove under the rear tire to prevent the van from falling into the ravine. It is definitely not for the faint-of-the-heart.
I enjoyed the video very much. Away from concrete buildings...nice scenery...
Glad you did, Lalthazuala, these routes come as a breath of fresh air.
@@KripalAmannaVlogs Absolutely right. Green fresh air is a must after the hot summer months ....
It's still raining here, and will last till the month of August first or second week ... is it still raining there?
Hi Kripal. Thanks a ton for sharing this route. I shall definitely give it a try. Recently drove down from Belgaum to Mangalore taking the Khanapur-Bhagvati-Yellapur-Sirsi-Kumta Axis. The first 3 places were a torture to drive, given the road conditions full of pot holes and craters. But the ghat section was a respite and a treat to drive.
I felt i myself driving in this route. Very peaceful to watch. Keep exploring sir. Take care.
❤My favourite one upto Shivamogga by mini bus during m tech in krec surathkal 1989 to 1992. Then it was narrow roads with thick forest
I can imagine what it would have been like.
@@KripalAmannaVlogs roads were green dark thick forests ... sometimes elephants bison grazing peackocks dancing lots of waterfalls.....
I am from 2004 batch krec . I was travelling from harihar to Mangalore via this ghat.Old memories 😢😢😢😢

I'm from 2019 batch of KREC/NITK
Dear Kripal, I live in west now and visit India once every 6 months. I am from Mangaluru while my in-laws live in Shimoga. So, I hire a car and drive on Agumbe ghat at least twice every time. There used to be a gaadi restaurant just before the Agumbe end of the ghat after hte forest department check post. He used to prepare very very nice goli baje(Mangaluru bajji).
In Agumbe > at few Kilometer distence there is place called KUNDADRI . This place is again mesure a height of Agumbe . At its top there is Jain temple around 1000 years old , well maintained , good architecture . You can watch a very beutiful Landscape from this height . May be 1500 > 2000 Ft ASL .
The road / Area is protected by Forest Dpt . Visitors allowed from 9 Am to 4 pm . Nothing except Forest . Steep climbing , Motorable road .
Must visit .
This sounds interesting, thank you.
Yes very beautiful, I visited this place in the year 2004 with my college friends in TT.
An absolute treat to watch. The insta 360 is doing a fabulous job
We too visited this cafe last year. It was a great break and kids had sizzling brownie and surprisingly it was good.
What an exciting Sunday morning! The virtual experience was splendid.
Thanks Mohammed, glad you found this video exciting. Happy Sunday.
Thank you, Amigo, for driving around and showing us the beautiful forest and ghat drive. The scenery was absolutely stunning, and we truly appreciated your efforts. We love it. Take care, stay safe, and be blessed!
Beautiful country drive. Liked the vlog. A little extra torque in the car can make it easy for such ghats. Depends on the driver as well. 13:19
Nice Relaxing video.....
Being able to travel itself is a blessing, many don't realise 👍
Nice video. Peaceful Green country Roads. Incredible Karnataka.
Thank you Kripal, Nice drive. I enjoyed it.
Thanks so much. I used to drive up the Agumbe Ghats in the early 1980's on my motorcycle, while I was a student at Manipal. Great memories.

Hello Kripal!
This is your fan from Pune..I am watching your travel and food videos since last few months. You make excellent videos with amazing description about the places in South India. I love South Indian food and also the Vibe in South India as I have been to every state in South India..😁
Please keep making such positive vibe videos.✨♥️

Actually after Aldur you take right then you come to place called Handi from there 6km to place called baskal(mudigere belur route2) is single lane.
I used to take this route from Brahmavar to BTM 2nd stage.
Totally its 410Km.
@ 16:47 Yes sir, you are seeing the clouds looming over the mangalore tiles of malgudi days Doddamane🌧️
Awesome drive.. you are right Amateurs should not risk Augumbe ghat
Sir,next time try to go by Hulikal(Balebare) ghat [Udupi-Siddapura-Hulikal-Thirthahalli-Bengaluru] It may be long though
This is the best route to South Goa from Bengaluru. Its best if you leave Bengaluru early in the morning but I had left around noon on my bike. Sunset happened right when I was at the agumbe view point. It was a pretty scary route till kundapura as it was pitch dark inside deep jungle. Managed to reach South Goa around midnight. Nice memories from December 2021.
Wow! I can imagine the ride. 😱
Hi Kripal Sir,Awesome vlog as usual with Mountain Goat accepting all the hurdles faced in the ghats...😊
Kripal... Agumbe isn't the highest rainfall area anymore. It's Hulikal. And wrt eateries, most famous on sringeri ckm route is bhadra coffee shop. All regular drivers know this from 20 yrs. Easiest route is Agumbe - theerthahalli - bhadravathi - ajjampura - hiriyur - bangalore
As a Maharashtrian I must say,Mengaluru is the most beautiful cosmopolitan city in India, its beautiful ,no other city compares to it.,
relax

Most enjoyable!Thank you for this opportunity.Indian meals are always delicious!Bless!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I enjoyed the video
Kripal, another fantastic vlog! I took the Agumbe route last year and it was every bit as scenic as you captured. The steepness definitely gets the adrenaline pumping! Loved your pit stops at Sri Sathyanarayana and Khandya - those are some hidden gems.
Your comparison of Agumbe vs. Sampaje/Shiradi/Charmadi is super helpful for folks planning trips to this area. I've done those other ghats too, and it's great to have your insights on the differences. 👍 Keep the Jimny adventures coming!
Certainly will keep them coming, glad you’re enjoying them.
On the way to balehonnuru from agumbe _ before Balehonnuru there is a very good hotel at SEEGODU_ called SEEGODU CAFE,__ very nice hotel to enjoy south indian tiffins as well as dakshina Kannada foods
Awesome vlog! Picturesque drive for sure. Thanks and appreciate for making this vlog with superb narration. Please make more superb travel vlogs driving in the ghat sections. Greetings from Plano, Texas, United States.
Thank you! Will do!
Enjoyed your wits involving Creta and Nexon 😊
😃
Great Vlog Sir Great Drive God Bless Ever Sir.
The Blue colour painted house belongs to Congress leader Late Oscar Fernandes. It is his ancestral home.
I drove through this route on (24th July) towards Manipal and returned through this route on 28th July. Yes. Balehonnur to Chikmagalur to Belur is better. Google maps shows shorter route which has lot of pot holes
Very scenic route. Loved it
Bisle Ghat to mangalore is also very scenic and beautiful. You should definitely give a try
Will do.
Definetly you have to try
Dakshina Kannada ❤
🎉❤ definitely enjoyed your video sir.Your English speaking is awesome 👍
Loved every bit of this vlog..these parts are simply divine in the monsoons..the sights n sounds are a treat to the eyes..hope to make a monsoon trip sometime..
So true about only taking from nature and not giving back..😢
Before balehonnur there is cafe called Seegodu cafe
Food and ambience is too good
Sir you can get down from aagumbe ,proceed towards theerthahalli-bhadra dam-tumkur -bengalooru
This is shorter route
Beautiful nature.
Finally done with 14 hour surgery sir, now out of ICU, hoping your videos will entertain me and lot of videos to catch, thanks sir
Hi sir, I watch your videos regularly, we too travelled in this route from Murdeshwar to Bangalore, driving thru Agumbe Ghat road, had great experience. Very nice content,
Thank you.
Wonderful vlogs and videos. Hope someday you will make a tour plan and take willing viewers....thanks
Lovely route ,it does NOT need any expertise for car driving, please be careful and keep your eyes fixed to the road ,don't be distracted by the scenery
This vlog is really tempting for a family road trip 😅🎉
Beautiful vlog sir..scenic beauty in malenadu❤
I was always waiting that he doesn't captured this few places finally he was
Kripal sir nice vlog as always...there are lines of hotels on the Sita Nadi road...n the last hotel u find on the right hand side called Nandini hotel is owned by my brother in law...just before the ghats starts...it's a GSB hotel...
Nice video and thanks a lot. But Agumbe ghat road is nothing compared to Pollachi Valparai inTN with over 30 hairpin bends or Mettupalayam Ooty with 14 hairpin bends and many other ghat roads in TN.But one needs to be very careful and give way in bends always to heavy vehicles.
That black Nexon ,the beast
Sir, next time when you take this route to Blr or to Udupi, please visit our hotel in Koppa - Sir Gajanana Bhavana which is the oldest Hotel in the town - since 1939.
Hi @meghanag6867 We will look it up, do send the google coordinates and a message on instagram with details of the place if possible.
You missed Holla Holige house and Badkilaya hotel .... don't miss these two before you up the agumbe ghat
Nice one as usual🎉
Hi Sir you came my native place madamakki before Someshwara take left it is very good thick forest
there is one hotel in Hebri called Madkillaya Hotel. Its a old hotel but tasty food
Hello Kripal , Your travel videos are amazing
Kripal you should have taken the best route is Shimoga & Chennagiri and chitradurga
Everything ❤ lovely
You would have taken Agumbe Koppa N R Pura Tarikere Kadur Tumkur Bengaluru route
Neer dose looked very appetising but I could’ve done without looking at the kitchen😂
Can you do a video on all old houses both in Bangalore and in Udipi and other areas. I too love old houses
Sir you missed Ganesh Bhavana and Kerala Hotel in Koppa
You should have stopped at Krishna Cafe at Balehonnur
I wanted to, Shaun, remember your recommendations from earlier as well, but we were late. Another time perhaps.
This hotel satyanarayana is famous for goli baje 😊
Next time please try one of the hotels in Someshwar a town immediately after you descend the Agumbe Ghat
Kripal you couldve asked the locals there (passerby)😊 for the route
Like your Videos, Love from IRAN 🇮🇳♥️🇮🇷
From aldur you should have taken chickamagalore _ belur and Hassan road. That is better and broad
Creta and now nexon 😂
Lovely
Hello sir. How is jimny performance on ghats. And also please make a ownership review if possible
Thank you
Excellent! Just crossed 5k kilometres on the Jimny.
Soooo lovely
I have driver many times in Agumbe, bit concern is when you encounter idiot drivers in hairpin turns. Otherwise its good and safe ghat to drive.Very short ghat to cover
should have tried golibaje in seethanadi , i guess you went in the afternoon when it is not available.
thank u sir.....🤩😍
There is one more... Bisile Ghat. Try that
You missed One of the oldest and holy place Sringeri in this route
❤ From Hebri
Well , If you want to skip agumbe i ll give you another option…Drive to Karkala > Kudremuk > Kalasa > samse > belur snd the regular one .. this is the one i will take this week 😊
This is so ❤😍
How recommended is it to drive during the monsoon in ghats, considering the landslide situations happening across the country?
Beautiful vlog...a passionate drivers fav route
Always better to ask locals when u r in doubt
This is that strech where the google map really scars you.. been there
You tried all the way try bisle ghat also ❤
Food lovers to Road lovers 😂
You would have gone via Udupi Hiriyadka Perdoor Hebri which is shorter.
Highway road work not completed
Yes
Try food in sirsi minakshi restaurant
In all these routes , which route is best n safe for new drivers
