On my return trip from Udupi, I stopped at this rustic eatery just outside the foothills of Agumbe and made a light breakfast of a delicious neer dosae and chutney. The most impression-able aspect of Sri Sathyanarayana hotel, Seethanadi, though is its owner Mr. Anil Kumar Shenoy, whose sincere and infectious enthusiasm lingers long beyond the fleeting minutes one spends here. Also, noteworthy are the cottage industry preparations and edible knick knacks one can carry from the store. Definitely an interesting stop to pencil into your itinerary if you find yourself on the road here.

I heard some chefs don't like this type of behavior as in asking something more than they served, coz those chefs Believe that the quantity they served is appropriate, and asking for more means that they didn't anticipate that and their ego gets hurt

I am visiting here since around 20 years . His Packed food arrangements are such that one will not go without buying them .
Most of the Jungle and seasonal Food items we dont get elsewhere .
He talks to point .
No cheating .
The competition is sever there as there are many hotels nearby . So fiitest will survive . There will be no bussiness here in Rainy season . Almost all will go on vacation due to hevy rain .
I just love how he pronounced Buns and Golibaje.
There is no hyping about those dishes.

I have been to that eatery as a kid with my grandfather enroute to Shivmogga, this was a regular stop. We used to stop by the hotel have tiffin fill the car with water and then off to claim the ghat I remember eating the buns.
But the way when he does that dosa, half the mix is on the wall or on the stove, man needs to be bit more careful as he is losing money by wasting the mix in that manner.
Enjoyed the video and it bought some happy memories from my childhood back

The best part of the shops and hotels in ooru is the assortment of crunchy snacks kept for sale. You just can't refuse those local home made snacks, hence end up buying them 😄

All time favourite! I would descend the Agumbe ghat just to savour the lemon tea, neer dose, goli bajji, buns and their range of pickles. Kripal I recon, you should try pineapple vobbattu the next time you’re there!

We usually go the Bhattru Hotel in Hebbri. Which also has same kind of vibe.
Have visited this place a couple of times. The food is heaven. Just simple homemade neerdosa and buns - exactly what I love here. Also that they make pure coconut chutney here without adding putani. Mr Shenoy, his wife and kids are a very cheerful family, he appears a bit serious here (possibly because he is conscious of the camera).
If u havent eaten here, u have missed out on the simple priceless pleasures of life❤
The spicy chatni is what my grand mom used to prepare for neer dose in my child hood in bejai mangalore. The actual neer dose used to be eaten like that was what all our old folks use to have. The tava in which he prepared it was also there with us made of iron and heavy. Now times have changed and the spice level has reduced for all pallets. Brought found memories back of my child hood…🙂
I have travelled on this route may be 6 times from Bangalore but always had breakfast at the bigger Seethanadi restaurant nearby where there is huge car parking space etc but will try this one next time as somehow destiny is making me travel so many times on this road

It's good and used to be our pitstop on that way. Please also visit Mayura at Someshwar. I haven't tasted better golibaje than what they serve. It's ultimate.

The owner of the hotel drew our attention towards him rather than at the food stuff that was on offer.
The dish is similar to dish find in Konkan area,the dish is called ghavan,the main thing is the kind of pan used to make this dish

May be he should clean the hot plate. I find flour all over the place. Hot spicy coconut chutney may have to be toned down a bit to be a good accompaniment for the neer dosai

This hotel is a default stop for us when we travel towards Agumbe and also sometimes when we feel like eating buns or Golibaje. The best part is the home made snacks, pickles available there. In the end you must drink their Lemon tea made out of lemon grass and not the instant powder.
