This is the most fair comparison I’ve ever seen. I never understand how club reviewers compare drivers with stock shafts & no fitting. A true comparison would be getting those driver heads spec’d to your swing & then comparing those numbers. This is fair.
It’s fun to watch you rip the same drive basically over and over again and make the rest of us feel inadequate hahaha keep it up, really entertaining to watch you guys, smartest dialogue when it comes to fitting out there
I really LOVE what you guys do. Keep up the fantastic work. I recently put the G410 LST in the bag and wow is it ever long and accurate. This is my favorite channel for golf equipment.
Thank you for continuing to produce content during this crazy time. With every sporting event being cancelled and more golf tournaments being cancelled every day, its hard to stay positive. Thanks again for all your up beat entertaining content!
Love your intro stating it is for Matt and a FUN exercise. I think that you are spot on "setting up each driver" as there is counterbalance etc etc etc. Well done lads. Y'all may also have a "shaft" competition within the competition to see which shaft has the most top 5 results...
Just when I thought nothing will top last year’s driver bracket tests, you go and throw in Carnoustie.... well played! Looking forward to see the rest of the series. 👍
I believe I made the comment last year that all the drivers should have been fitted. Now this is worth watching. Note that I don’t bother watching tests online that don’t pre-fit the clubs - it’s so obvious a few prominent YT club testers play with this variable to write off certain brand of clubs for obvious reasons.
Ian, want to give a shout out to your office personal!! Marianne was super helpful and quick with responses to any question I had about a fitting. Top notch employees help make TXG who they are!!
Love it guys. Your disclaimer at the beginning was perfect Matt because you know there is always going to be someone out there who thinks their driver was not given a fair chance or wasn't included. 👌
Awesome, the real march madness has begun. Guys, golf fans around the world needs youtubers to make awesome content now more than ever during the depressing times. Thx for the hard work guys.
Thank you for stating that this competition is to find the best driver for Matt, not for finding the best overall driver. For me, this offers much more clarity.
Just when I thought nothing would beat the tour ad xc. Here comes the nymesis. Absolute monster of a shaft. Big Thanks to Matt and Ian for doing a review.
Great format this year with hitting on a hole rather that just pounding balls down the range! Got a feeling that even in “The Year of the Driver” that G410 is gonna be hard to beat.
That fade setting on the Ping really seems to do a great job of protecting you against the toe ball. It looks like it allows you to harness that speed and spin reduction of the slightly high toe strike without it diving right on you. The SIM MAX didn't seem to quite have that same protection. Excellent test format guys, looking forward to it!
Great idea using the fairway and the formula looks bang on. Not surprised by the results -- can't wait for the next round, though I'm a bit worried the TS3 may not make it in.
I so look forward to this series! I hope this is a yearly thingy as long as you guys are on here! This is right up the with the NCAA's! Come on Mizuno! I'm a sucker for the underdog!
Great one guys. When you are all done, please take the final two drivers, fit an average 95-100 SS player and do one last comparo. Anyone else like to see this?
I think for next year it would be great to potentially add a few more of the lesser brands such as PXG, Tour Edge, etc.... it would just be interesting to see how his swing matches up with some of those when they are fitted
Nice comparisons, still I think it come down to what looks, feel and sound when choosing a driver. I love demo days where you can try them onside on a range.
Can you show club head speed data and ball strike data as well. So we can determine with it was strike ,speed or then head design that created the ball speed. Thanks
Ian is going to get tired of saying "So good..."! Great video as always and looking forward to the rest of the videos! I think G410LST is going to be tough to beat again this year! Let's see if the Cobra has it in it this year!
Great content gentlemen, only recommendation would have been to use the "play-in" round for the manufacturer's with more than one driver model (Callaway, TM).
Question about your SIM bays: What projectors and screens do you use and how often have you needed to replace your screens? Setting up a SIM at the house and while I will probably just use a net for now with Skytrak on iPad connected to a larger TV for display, I'll probably upgrade that at some point for projector and screen. Thanks, gents. Oh, and when are the TXG Bucket hats going to be back in stock?
A thought on the scoring. It would be interesting to divide the total yardage by the number of shots it took to get 10 drives - the logic being that some drivers may be easier for Matt to hit consistently. But honestly, the concept you already have is pretty on point :) even if it is rascally
Great stuff guys! The only relevant stat missing from the scoring system is how many shots it took to get 10 in the fairway with each driver. There isn't a golfer alive that puts a good swing on every tee shot. I'd be interested to see if some shaft/head combos are harder to hit badly for a given player rather than just how good the good shots are.
we've been thinking about this, we may try to incorporate that into the semi-final round if we can. So far from what we've filmed, the winning drivers have taken less shots anyway
Drivers vary so much person to person tho unless u swing exactly like him no one can say to many variables in a person's swing to say one driver is the best for everyone
Interesting thing is that G410 beat TS last time around, I don't feel like it would be anything different. It just depends if anything new can beat G410...
@@Ryan-fx7jx I hit the G410 LS at the fitting to, but couln't hit it good at all. It was not that forgiving as everyone say. Feel at impact was hard and dead and the sound I didn't like. TS3 was soft at impact and sounded really good. I had no thought of testing TS drivers at all because i have never liked Titleist. I'm glad that the fitter id put the TS3 in my hands. I like the classic shape and look of the TS3. There is not much going on on the top and bottom of the driver. Clean and just looks good. Ended up with Driver, FW3 and 19 deg Hybrid that day. all with same shaft.
Beautiful driving of the golf ball. Great vid guys, can't wait for the next one. I'll put it out there now, Cobra for the win (choose Cobra last year too!).
This is awesome, I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series! Would be interesting if you could maybe add a 'difficulty' factor for the drivers, where you divide the ten shots in the results by the number of shots you took to get to the ten, and maybe multiply the distance/accuracy score by that. That way we'll get to see those drivers that go like bombs when well struck, but which are really difficult for Matt to strike well - which he wouldn't want on the course, I'm sure. As an example in this video: G410 LST - 313.15 accuracy/distance score, 20 shots (thumbsuck) taken to get the 10. Difficult factor = 0.5. This then gives the LST 313.15 x 0.5 and a final final score of 156.58. Sim Max - 304.15 accuracy/distance score, 25 shots (thumbsuck). 10/22 = 0.4. This then gives the Max a final final score of 121.66. So the driver of the two that is hardest for Matt to hit well comes through very clearly in the results.
I noticed it took 61 swings to complete this texting. Or were the warmup swings on the shot counter? 61 swings for 20 scoreable swings. Don’t want to sound negative or rude. Love what you guys do!! Nothing but respect. Just curious. Darn Coronavirus has caused me to put off a fitting! It was supposed to be my 60th birthday gift from my wife.
Same here my friend, I was supposed to have my fitting on Tuesday (Australia), but the fitter had to cancel because a student of his on Sunday tested positive...
Also as to all the extra swings, that's why Matty isn't a tour player. Hasn't got the consiastency to churn out 20 quality drives in a row. Pretty sure he's said that himself somewhere... but we all love you Matt, keep hittin em dirtydog
Curious to see if the drivers that test the best have a common denominator ie:shafts. Will the drivers using the Nemesys all get to the semi's and finals ?
Well done, but would have been better if you compared the LST to the SIM. It would have been a LOT closer. Can't wait to see where you go with this and the grand final.
Would love to see if you could replicate this is real life.....I have played Carnoustie twice and standing on that tee is a daunting view with the OB on the left and usually the wind blowing hard from the left...........such a great hole, on arguably the best Open Championship (certainly my favourite) layout.......
I love y’all. Made some money on the stock market drops so I’m buying new clubs. Will get fitted when I graduate college and get a real job but for right now getting some new clubs to grow into for now
Just to clarify the formula you guys are using ... doing some quick back calculations ... Ping 410 LST Total (not Carry) is 326 yds * 10 = 3260 total "Total" yds ... Final Score (Distance - Accuracy) 313.15 * 10 = 3131.5 ... so total yds offline is (3260 - 3131.5) = 128.5 ? Did you guys think about using Carry distances instead of Total distances ?
People will take out of this what they want and I, for one, really enjoy watching these videos. But there is little information here that transfers to my game; Matt is a good 20+ mph faster swing speed than me. So to expect anything more than entertainment isn't realistic. BUT, it does drive home the point (pun intended!) that a good fitting makes a difference. Even though Ronnie's fittings are more relatable, they aren't in lock-step with me. Wish I had the wherewithal to go to TXG myself!
So I was watching these in the wrong order, but I'm delighted that Old Faithful came out on top, Again! Ps, What that graphic doesn't show you is how intimidating the OOB fence/path is on the left side of the fairway! When you stand on the tee box the gap between the bunkers and the fence looks as though the fairway is about 10ft wide!!!!!!
Hard to come up with the most accurate/fair way to grade them, if you love that fade and that's the aiming goal you should grade the Ping on every shot landing 10 yards left, no? Or adjust your aim line 10 yards right. Some clubs will give you a different shot shape - the ping does clearly gives you a fade, and the max seemed to want to turn over a bit. Great job boys! Btw loved the deleted shot between 3 and 4 (Fore left!)
Great start to the golf season. Keep up the great work and love the data, as an engineer I love to see the data validate a good hit. BTW what golf ball are you playing? Hopefully see you soon for a fit...LrdMSJ
As always love the videos. Don’t know if it’s already been ask. But do you think the higher ball speed of the Ping is due to the counterbalanced shaft?!
Please keep this sort of content up, guys. Maybe even do brackets for fairways and hybrids. With no sports on y'all have so much more of an impact.
The True MARCH MADNESS goes forward.

The down the line view of Matt’s swing is a good-different look at that swing of his. Dirtydog performed well today! Be safe everybody.
Just when I thought nothing would beat the tour ad xc. Here comes the nymesis. Absolute monster of a shaft. Big Thanks to Matt and Ian for doing a review.
Great videos, Ian and Matt. Thanks to Matt for testing lefty clubs.
After the bracket is done I would love to see a "lowlight" reel of Matt cranking a few out of bounds or onto the next hole over.
Matt’s a machine his ball striking has gotten so good. Great videos guys
Keep doing your great work guys. We need it in these uncertain times !
"Yooou Rascal!" Had me laughing haha.
Bring on all the videos! Such a great comparison.
Great format this year with hitting on a hole rather that just pounding balls down the range! Got a feeling that even in “The Year of the Driver” that G410 is gonna be hard to beat.
Favourite golf channel by far. Love these videos. thanks guys
Really appreciate all the content fellas. It is a wonderful distraction. Thank you!
Nice to see you guys with a return of the bracket.
Stay well. Keep safe, OG
That fade setting on the Ping really seems to do a great job of protecting you against the toe ball. It looks like it allows you to harness that speed and spin reduction of the slightly high toe strike without it diving right on you. The SIM MAX didn't seem to quite have that same protection. Let's Go! These two drivers are top three on my considerations for a fitting.
Best golf content on RUclips! Keep it up! Also love the Carnoustie addition!
Can you guys do the bracket with an average swing speed player

Nice video guys!!! Ping G410 LST is the driver to beat!! Matt's Thor's hammer or ax???? You are worthy of this driver Matt!!!!
Best golf content on RUclips, by a mile
Man the ball flight on the Ping, just amazing. Thanks for the entertainment guys.
Just found this channel... I"M SO PUMPED!!!
I learn so much about equipment and fitting from Ian and Matt. Love the content, keep rockin boys!!
Matt normally was using 60 gram shafts as I remember in prior videos. All the builds using 70 grams. Why the switch?
Nice comparisons, still I think it come down to what looks, feel and sound when choosing a driver. I love demo days where you can try them onside on a range.
Love it. Great diversion from the real world right now. Stay safe everyone.
I got fitted a month ago, got the sim max. My ball speed with the sim was 5 mph more than the g410. A have a 100 swing speed.
Need to get fitted!!
Awesome!!! 👍

Love the formula.
Good thinkin' right there 👍👍
Been looking forward to this year's bracket.

I couldn’t help but notice the shot counter for DirtyDog. Would you disclose how many “misses” each driver had? Thanks for the video.
I'm like a kid waiting for Xmas morning!! Love the bracket, am really pumped for this year's "tournament".

This is awesome to watch, please release the next episode tomorrow:-). Who need netflix or viaplay when you can see real drama.
Next episode tomorrow for sure!
I put my money on TS3 in this years Bracket. Got fitted for a 9,5 deg TS3 (C1 setting) with a 45" Hzrdus Smoke 6.0 shaft this year.
Drivers vary so much person to person tho unless u swing exactly like him no one can say to many variables in a person's swing to say one driver is the best for everyone

How many people noticed that shot 3 with the Ping ended up OB right? Wonder how many shots were edited out.
There’s always shots edited out, we’ve mentioned that often
I am guessing that due to CV19 and panic buying, there is a shortage of razors in Canada.
Justin Stephenson 🧔🏻
This is awesome, I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series!

Sim Max is closer to G410LST, standard Sim is lower spin
This is a great test ,good watching .
My call for the finals. G410LST vs SIM. Not knocking any other driver, but I think those two work the best for Matt.
Is Matt trying to do a particular shot shape with his driver swing?
small draw
5:54 So those are the shots we don't see ;)

Just to clarify the formula you guys are using ... doing some quick back calculations ... Ping 410 LST Total (not Carry) is 326 yds * 10 = 3260 total "Total" yds ... Final Score (Distance - Accuracy) 313.15 * 10 = 3131.5 ... so total yds offline is (3260 - 3131.5) = 128.5 ? Did you guys think about using Carry distances instead of Total distances ?
How many fairways did you hit with each driver? interesting to know how many shots you delete.
Love the bracket, and love the hole view.
Love the disclaimer!!!! HAHAHAHAH..... I will never watch this channel again if my driver doesn't win!!!! Said NO ONE.....ever!!!
🤣 said a few people, last year 🤣🤣

fun to watch you smash the ball playa!
Calling it now. G410LST repeat champion.
Would the G410lst be less forgiving than the SIM Max? In general.
Not from what we’ve seen

@@clubchampionmedia Thank you!! I look forward to this series!!
What do you guys think of the ventus blue shaft?
As an aside, how many shots missed fairway? Or did the Machine go 20 for 20...
I think about 5-10
Are all the swing weights the same?
Pretty close to D4 on everything in the bracket
Love the video & hitting on an actual hole is loads better guys 👌🏻
Dr. Ian, can you write out a prescription for 5.5g hot melt in the toe of that Max?
You neglected to turn the wind up to 35 mph and add a Scottish caddie that you couldn't understand a word that came out of his mouth.
😂😂👍
And include a few drams of nectar
Just give him a few pints
Hard to come up with the most accurate/fair way to grade them, if you love that fade and that's the aiming goal you should grade the Ping on every shot landing 10 yards left, no? Using Srixon Z star XV
I like the sound on the sim max ! 👍🏽
As always love the videos. Don’t know if it’s already been ask. But do you think the higher ball speed of the Ping is due to the counterbalanced shaft?!
It is possible
