    The Ping gives you what you want without sacrificing accuracy! The few extra yards won’t justify the miss that the SIM2 would bring every now and then. Both are really nice clubs though!

    When I tested TM vs SIM a year ago, it was clear to me the extra .5" was what was creating the speed in the TM and the shorter shaft gave me the accuracy in the Ping (410 LST). Would love to see the TM with a 45" shaft

  • @clayfleming6286

    You need to get properly fit for all of them and test that way. Testing the sim 2 with your custom shaft vs the other 2 with off the rack shafts of course leads to a scenario where you can go harder at the sim. My takeaway would be if the Ping with a stock shaft is that competitive would could it do with a fit?

    • @gary-gt-tsang
      @gary-gt-tsang 3 года назад +13

      The shaft he's using in the SIM2 is also a stock/off the rack shaft from the previous year for the SIM driver so he's testing stock shafts with all three drivers. He should get two more versions of the Diamana shaft and tip them with a Ping and Callaway adapter to do this testing. That way with the shaft being the same, he can truly test which driver head is best for his bag since he really likes the Diamana shaft.

    • @clayfleming6286
      @clayfleming6286 3 года назад +5

      @@gary-gt-tsang I remember correctly he was fitted to the shop though, even though it is a sock shop. Could be misremembering, that is very possible. Fitted for each of them, the identical shaft In all three would not necessarily produce great results because the Ping has a much heavier head and needs a counter balanced shaft.

    • @chrisgilligan4968
      @chrisgilligan4968 3 года назад +10

      @@gary-gt-tsang Definitely should have been testing like for like. Half inch longer and lighter shaft will definitely give more clubhead speed. There's no way I'm buying that a dialed in SIM is 20 yards longer than and equally dialed in Callaway. No tour players would be playing Callaway drivers if that were the case. You can't give up 20 yards on tour due solely to equipment.

      @@clayfleming6286 I can't remember either and very good point regarding the heavier head of the Ping driver head. But I think Pete going with a 70 gram shaft for the Callaway was not a fair assessment since it gave him the lowest swing speed and he didn't want to swing it faster in fear of the spin being too high.

    One thing I can see in your choice selection is your BELIEF and when you FEEL comfortable i.e the shorter length shaft suited you as you felt comfortable and confident. The thought and feeling process transmits to the body - you are a dynamic energy machine and the muscles get programmed by your thoughts - your brain is the government of the body - cultivate a good government and you will achieve the best of your technical ability but more importantly you will have FUN - hesitation and indecision produce 2 conflicting energy patterns = a bad outcome/shot. Go with how you feel and what gives you confidence, if it is 1" shorter shaft then go with that as it overrides the tech data you can play with both but your confidence is the most important element.

    Well considering I just got the PING G425 SFT yesterday but I do agree with your statement of "the ping gives me more confidence". During fitting for the PING they gave me it and the SIM2 MAX D type. While the SIM did go further and sometimes be more accurate I just felt like the ping gave me degree of confidence that the SIM didn't give. So hopefully more fairways this upcoming season.

    I bought my first ever Titlist club last year the tsi3. I hit all the drivers and nothing gave me more consistent results than tsi3. I wanted to bag the epic or ping but all drivers were within 6 / 7 yds of each other but i felt like i couldn't hit bad shots with the tsi3. I paired it with the tensei blue 55 shaft and this setup has been a game changer for me it's arrow straight and very consistent

    Finally someone on RUclips who picks a club based on how straight they hit it. None of that yeah I quite like the look of this one yeah that’s it I’ll go with this one

    I pre-ordered my Ping G425. Can’t wait to put it in my bag! If I hit it anywhere as close on the course as I did in the simulator I’m hoping to drop my handicap by at least a few points.

    very interesting video in light of the PGAs "Distance Report" just released. Although it is amazing to see averages of +300 and beyond from the tee, I would personally love to see better accuracy and more consistency in my game over distance. Choosing the Ping in my opinion is a good choice as it'll lend you more confidence when you start competing again looking to get on the tour.

    You made the right choice.
    I definitely would have put the Ping G425 LST in the bag. Performance is key.

    I love your channel man! I hit all 3 of these, and bought 2... The Max LS and the Sim 2. I'm going to go 3 range sessions with each, and 3 rounds, and sell whichever one doesn't win out.

    Great choice Pete. I've been gaming the 425 for the past couple of months (Australia), and have found it to be an amazingly consistent performer. Probably 5 yards less carry than my SIM, but a lot more fairways.

    Just got driver fitted myself. I went in thinking Titleist (to match my new irons) but ended up trying the Callaway epic speed and the Ping G425 LST. To be fair I had not yet watched this video. I didn't have the greatest fitting experience but ended up hitting the G425 LST best. It's performing even better on course. I'm really enjoying it. Got a PXG driver fitting in a few days and looking to see if I can improve on the Ping. If so, hello PXG. Thanks for the review! Loved the head-to-head (to head).

    I ordered a Ping G425 driver and it's going to take 2-8 weeks to arrive. I am so anxious. Also ordered a G425 5-wood for good measure.

    Think you've made the right choice putting the Ping in Pete, higher percentage of fairways hit equals better rounds. Distance wise, taking 10-15 yards, not much when u consider playing more shots from rough if u chose the Sim 2. Ping G425 all day for me :D

    Spot on choice I think the sim 2 is not massively longer so hitting the fairway has to be a priority

    Ping G425 LST coming my way soon. Glad you found more fairways with it. I know I need more of those. Tired of hitting through trees even though they are 90% air.

    Pete really put a lot more effort into the Sim swing, can only think he liked it more, so much of driver confidence comes from just liking the look, feel and how it sits at address, think the Sim will be back LOL.

    The ping driver is solid and I’m pretty straight with it. It might not be as long as the Sim2, or the Edge, but I’m willing to give up that 5 yards to be in the middle of the faraway 95% of the time.

    While I'm personally glad to see that the Ping go in the bag over the Taylormade, I do think the main asterisk attached to this video and any potential showdowns in the near future(between clubs for a spot in your bag, that is) is that these are all not going to be perfectly fit for you. They may be really close, but, at the moment, the little bit of difference between the clubs (such as the length) may produce the slightest of advantages for one club or another. That being said, you've got to work with what you've got (as the saying goes) and you seemed to be hitting all three pretty good. Some would argue that's all that needs to be said: you hit all three good and the Ping ended up in the bag in the end.
    I do really enjoy these Build My Bag videos Mr. Finch. A good mix of entertaining and insightful. Keep it up and God bless!

    love it. struck it a touch left as it ends up in another county. but i would blame the ball and the weather conditions since it’s never “our” fault. smart choice on the Ping bc accuracy with your swing speed and distance is way more important than 10 more yards when you hit the f******* ball 330 yards

    I would go for the PING based on looks and choose whichever helped one helped me keep on the fairway.

    I've only like Ping and TaylorMade drivers over my time. I'm very overdue for an upgrade when I have the money, but I'm still using a Ping G20 as my driver years later. I don't need distance, I need more accuracy. I can't out down my TaylorMade CB Irons. Absolutely on love with them still and I don't mind the different brands thing.
