Hi folks, sorry this video is more action adventure than NERDY but it is what happened so there we go... The next episode will be feature more astro engineering and nerdyness and its dropping in a couple of weeks: ruclips.net/video/ms5gErdFT-o/видео.html
Been rather light over the last few months here in UK, More so on the North east Scotland where iam, Summer months are not good for astrophotography, Unless you do solar photography.
This guy's life is going to end with an article that says, "The beloved astronomy buff and RUclipsr better known to his fans as Astrobiscuit died doing what he loved most, being an absolute idiot on video to get a better view with a pretty dodgy telescope he bashed together from parts..."
Re: the car... I feel your pain. I am a regular attender at Kielder Starcamp, and in recent years, after the camp ended, I only made it 8 miles home out of a 160 mile journey and my car crapped out and wouldn't restart. I was stuck in the middle of nowhere, 8 miles from the most remote village in England, with no phone signal whatsoever on any network. I had to walk to the nearest house and call for help and It took me 15 hours to get home, on 3 tow trucks in a relay. The things we do for Astro...
Your tanacity is truly amazing I would have given up trying to drive up a mountain side with no barriers in the dark!!!! You’re an inspiration to us all can’t wait for the next episode 👍
Finallyyyy😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭UR BACKK I MISSED YOU SM , Ur the reason i got so involved into astrophotography and just use whatever tf i have at home and get the best out of it. 🙏🏻
I love La Palam, the skies are unbeatable when it comes to astronomy. The best part is getting set up at the top of the mountain while watching the Sunset. Hope you had a good trip and I always look forward to going each year with my students.
I'm sitting on the astro-imaging field at Astronomy Victoria's dark sky site, waiting for the clouds to part, and a new Astrobiscuit video drops just in time to keep me entertained!
Love the vids AB! Thanks for meganerd on the discord too! Anyone seeing this the discord is such a good place for everything whether it be asking questions or showing off your images!
my favourite island in the world, even without a telescope, really lets you understand the universe from almost any point on the island, being up at the top just adds more and more.
I can certainly feel your pain ! Same problem happened to me last summer. I went imaging high in the Alps. My car battery died, my jump starter died, there was no cell phone connection… The risks of trying to get the best sky possible. Luckily I was able to hitch hike back to town and call a tow truck.
Rory, you may be interested to know that you can often reverse up a steep slope you can't make it up forward as reverse gear is generally a lower ratio
Awesome video once again! Just wanted to share you a tip for next time you find yourself on situation like that where you have to run the car without lights. just take the light bulbs out of the car. It is usually really simple thing to do because they are meant to be replaced and after that you don't have to worry about the light.
Tip for if you ever get stuck again, Get your back to the bonnet and push backwards. Second tip, You should have then bumped it in reverse, selecting reverse and dumping the clutch down that hill. 🤦🏻♂️ good vid as always mate 🇬🇧❤️
broadly speaking, venturing out into the wild, and "setting camp" in a dark remote place, where any nocturnal animal sound can spook me, is what got me into stargazing in the first place. Now 8 years into the hobby, one Mak and three dobs later, i have managed to close my eyes to the charms of astrophotography and keep working visually with my last dob (whoever wants a glimpse of it, it is handmade and i have a time lapse in my channel of setting it up - i think I'm done with aperture fever lol). Many thanks for the Bouzouki track at the end, I'm Greek 😂

Nothing to be sorry about all good stuff. Cautionary tales in astrophotography probably saved a life.
I'm here for it.
its awesome Nerds are Allowed to adventure too
How long before you realized that you left the parking brake on? =)
👍

AHH thank you mate. Annoying that there is no Starbucks up here😂Next vid drops in 8 days😁
Now we know the reason for the break in uploads. He was stuck on a volcano.
I guess I would break my record of rewatching a single video with this one, Astrobiscuit is so entertaining!
It's like Rory is aging backwards, the videos are getting better and better and he's doing more and more adventures, I love it!
The car pulling sport is very healthy!!
Not only is this Astro related, but it’s a drama. Was on the edge of my seat. More of this mate! Amazing stuff
Just on another level with the ambition and storytelling. What a cliff hanger, almost literally!
This guy's life is going to end with an article that says, "The beloved astronomy buff and RUclipsr better known to his fans as Astrobiscuit died doing what he loved most, being an absolute idiot on video to get a better view with a pretty dodgy telescope he bashed together from parts..."
I hope he doesn't treat his children like he treats his scopes 😂
My family has zero interest in astro so they are safe
Biscuit, Please never stop making videos!!!

This has been the most heroic effort in the name of amateur astronomy I have ever seen, you deserve the greatest respect.

Rory bringing the car back to the rental like " I don't know why the transmission is shifting like that, it was like this before I got it"
🤣
That clutch was taking a beating

Love your videos Rory! The mix of adventure and astrophotography is brilliant.

This is just better than any TV shows. I always enjoy your videos.
Rory, you may be interested to know that you can often reverse up a steep slope you can't make it up forward as reverse gear is generally a lower ratio
interesting,
@@Astrobiscuit And if it is front wheel drive and you reverse up hill the weight transfers onto the front (now rear!) axle and improves grip
It’s been so long dude welcome back , can’t wait to see what you show us this time 😍😍😍

Without seeing the results we know all your efforts/drama will not be in vain! Looks amazing up there 😮
Yesterday I told my friend about Astrobiscuit and his great work, I am very happy :D
I used to ride my motorcycle up to Kitt Peak - just being around the domes was magical.
Never buy a used rental vehicle.
I love this guy, Rory! I don't like such real life drama occurring in his life but this is very compelling!
OMG YES your back
Epic video. Thanks!

Hi nan
