😮 I accidentally ran into this video and I’m so glad I did.i was born and Raised in Venice “da Hood” 78-91. Electric and broadway. My brother and sister , and brother in-laws are from Venice.. Dukes, midgets and the Venice Girls “santos” “trusty” and “la giggles” I Went to Westminster from 83-89 then Mark Twain 90-93 and Venice High 94-97 I have nothing but great memories and awesome stories I can tell you, we probably know each other lol Well I got sent to Jalisco live with my dad after getting stabbed in the battles of V13 vs VSLC in the late 90’s I ended up living in Jalisco for 5 years then moved to Nor-cal for 8 years then I came back to LA in 2007 I was shocked on how much Venice had changed it made me Cry 😢 Well going back in time They gave my mom like $5000 To move out in 91. She bought a house for $200,000 right across the street from the USC campus on right next to the Exposition line My moms house is now worth 750,000 and it’s paid for Gentrification is happening right in front of my face . Our neighbor just sold her house right across from us for 1 million 200,000 . She was the last black family on that block. A Korean company is buying of all these properties. I did a little investigating . Went around my block and asked all the workers and they all mentioned the same name . There is probably like 15 construction sites with in 4 blocks from my house We want to go get a loan , my 2 other brothers and I and Built our units there and charge the Students rent and show everyone how Gentrification in one Neighborhood caused us not to loose again when it’s happening again
So sad about the News 😔 R.I.P Yes I remember the free lunches for sure , and our Santa Claus was Black ! Remember kool aid from VSLC he was Santa at Westminster elementary school
I have a lot of respect for this. Encouraging young people to purchase property and maintain it is the most effective way to ensure economic liberation and reinforce the sense of community for black and brown people. It’s unfortunate that we spend money on stupid material goods that depreciate, instead of investing in assets. While we’re splurging on designer belts others are splurging on buying up blocks, apartment buildings, and single family residences.
This guy is an interesting dude. Definitely not afraid. He’s putting his face out there for the world to see. Venice has some crazy beef. As far as gentrification goes, Venice lost that war YEARS ago. Very few Raza or Brothers in Oakwood anymore. It’s a rap.
What are you talking about? Watch West Los the documentary. It covers all the (4) corners. Cut that set tripping shit out. We’re short enough as it is. You don’t hear me crying about how the inner city Westside gets no love. We got hit 10 times harder than the beach cities. Echo Park, Silverlake, Westlake, East/Central Hollywood, Koreatown, Mid City, West Adams has block after block after block under construction as we speak. We need to stick together and figure something out.
Man spanto they don't know bout Dogtown Vince just like they don't know bout echo Park or east Los I'm from I went from east Los to Lynwood and I'd be damned to see those gentrified
Facts! It's happening here in the hood of Lennox too man. It's sad but true. People need to remove their blind folds an be more aware of what's REALLY going ON.. crazy
I'm native and my people are Acjachemen. This video is alright but last time I checked this whole BxR shit sold it's soul and this cat absolutely gave up. Fuckin Levi's, FB, YT, ET muthafuckin C. I'll take a drug dealer over a liar any day. -Acjachemen Native California Indian Band.
I won't even go to Venice no mo.. Venice use to be the only beach blacks could go to. The powers that be have broken EVERY law known to man to establish America.
This video pisses me off to no end. The "gentrification" he rants about could have been avoided if the parents had encouraged their kids to work, make money, and buy homes of their own. In every city in the USA (and even in Britain and Israel) you see grown kids living with their parents and they don't move out. They don't want to work, so they don't make money, and then someone who DOES have money buys/renovates the house next door. If the original residents had motivation, they would've stayed in their own community and made it better.
I don't know if you have ever been to socal but there aint many good wage jobs there. It's mostly minimum wage. Hard to find good paying work even with a degree. L.A. in general has always been expensive to purchase homes. Lots of slum lords there too so a lot of places aren't worth buying. Don't be so quick to judge. This has happened all across the country where people get priced out by gentrification. The whole idea of "get a better job" doesn't work when there aren't any. In washington state in lots of cities and towns a large amount of adults live in their parents driveways in RV's. It happens everywhere. Check out detroit, chicago, parts of Mississippi, atlanta, texas, vegas, wyoming, all over.

It’s not the simple where that average income can’t compete with out of town rich investors and colonizers who take over the land and area.
@@justsomedudeyouknow8372 There was a time when the homes were far cheaper. They all missed the boat.
