In 2010, when I was 12, I was at Waimea Bay on a big day when Jay Adams came up and asked me if I wanted a photo with him. I didn’t know who he was at the time, but years later, after getting into the Dogtown movies, I realized I had met a legend. RIP, Jay.
Warms my heart to you, a son, keeping your dad’s spirit alive. I’m in Philly and your Pop is a legend here and everywhere kid. I know he’s looking down on you with a smile on his face.
I had the pleasure of growing up when your Dad and Tony were doing there thing. We would run into them in pools and parks throughout the valley. They were total rock stars. My buddy was Tony and I was Jay growing up, what an honor. We looked up to those guys. Great memories, RIP Jay Adams. Thanks for sharing. You do good young man. :-)
Been skating since the 70’s when Dogtown was ruling Skateboarder magazine, Jay and T.A. were the guys that embodied a culture that never dies, glad to see the next generation carry on with that mindset, Dogtown forever 🙏
Agreed, and not just skateboarding. Everything in our culture today was altered by those dudes. They turned dogtown into any town USA. You didn't need an ocean. Just your skateboard, imagination and a rad attitude. After the z boy movement, Kids in the Midwest became quasi concrete surfer dudes. Music changed. Fashion. The urethane revolution. They were rockstars and J Adam's was Led Zeppelin. The whole group!!!!!!
I was part of the Dogtown crew durring the era. Wasnt good enough to be s Zboy but i surfed skated partied and went to school with most of them. For the record, Jay was the best freestyle skater better than TA. And both he and Alva were incredible surfers. It was great time. Cheers to the Zboyz.
Back in the 70's Jay and that killer Crew used to get me so amped and just from reading skate mags .. we had no utube world wide web but we had Makaha's and Logan boards We had a empty pool in the neighborhood and can still hear that sound of wheels on concrete. Jay was a special Dude no doubt. Skate don't hate.
As a former Dogtown dude I surfed with Jay lots of times. But a trip to Malibu 3rd point during a pumping south swell 2+ feet overhead showcased just how great a surfer he was. Awesome
Beautiful vid', Seven. Thank you. Looks like youre right next to the road, going up the mountain, to the motorcycle track... More power to you, and may God and your Father continue to smile upon you. Don't let up ! SB
Jay...... Invented modern skateboarding as far as "it's how the individual sees it and everyone sees it different, and that's ok" skateboarding was a big part of my life. I feel I owe Jay all props for how we saw skateboarding. Never taint the craft. Be true to what you do on a board. "Not for sale". "It's a moment" a piece of time one of a kind.
yessssss I was just in venice hanging at the Juice event with Jim and OG dogtown crew...I was shocked and so happily surprised that even today after the mass commercialisation of skating, the essence and the best part of it still lives and breathes today as simply as it started way back when ...in Venice CA
I was in puerto at this time. Saw jay surfing two days before he passed away at playa zicatela. In neon green boardshort. I will never forget that moment! Big fan here from zurich switzerland 🤙
This was a great watch, appreciate the effort. Uncanny how my eye/brain memory recall thinks it's seeing Jay instead of Seven. Wild, takes a sec! It's awesome because Jay would love this video the most👍
Seven, my brother, this is amazing. Thank you for sharing your personal experience with your Pops. It’s amazing and graceful. Peace be with you and your family ❤️🔥
I got to shake Jay's hand at ASR years ago. I'm a nobody that was working for a little start up mag, but it got me into ASR. I saw him, sacked up to meet a legend, walked over, introduced myself, said I was honored to meet him all nervous and everything...I'll never forget his eyes, intensity would be an understatement...such a gracious, friendly man. R.I.P. Jay, keep on rollin' Seven!
Jay All Day!!! Love how Hawaiians influenced skate culture back then, such rad surf skate connection Jay was top of pecking order in both worlds pretty Epic feet! (Pun intended)❤🤙🏽
I recently shared a story of Jay, when I was heavy in the industry, I ran Green Banana Skateboards. I reached out to Jef Hartsel and he was stoked on what I was doing and I sent him out a complete and some shirts. One day I got a phone call from Jef and he asked if I could send out a few XXL shirts, i said “for you?” He said no…for Jay. I said “Jay, Jay who” he said laughingly…”Jay Adams… he really digs your stuff and wants a couple shirts.” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing… I couldn’t get to the post office fast enough. To have a legend like Jay psyched on my company was such a blessing. I pray for his family and know that Jay is with Jesus Christ, I named my son Zephyr in honor of him and those who set skateboarding on its true path. This video couldn’t come at a better time, I have been really thinking about bringing back GBS in 2025. God has placed it in my heart and this video is only solidifying that. Give thanks Seven, much love and respect to you and yours. In Jesus Christ all things are possible.
Kid, your dad is my favorite skater of all time. And, God chooses the most interesting souls to spread the gospel. I hope your Dad passed that on to you. It’s his greatest accomplishment.
Lords of Dogtown. There's a reason for the word "Lords"😇🙏✝️ ....I guess Seven is Lucky...I wish i knew why Jay and wife named there son Seven...Maybe they thought that they were lucky to have a child...I'm jus say'n, Flodaddy ❤
I find it very strange my last name is Adams and in 2008 me and my ex-wife were going to name our daughter seven I just think it's strange she would have been seven atoms too
forget this celebrity culture territorial garbage. I live in Venice. You can have dogtown, they are just another form of salespeople, they now hawk real estate too. Stacey P makes propaganda films. All selling & acting like they are regular folks. They never were. Gazillions of kids skate & many of them were inspired by Stacey,Jay & Tony. They are heavily promoted & connected. You can have all the gang bangers too. I don’t need a gang. True Apex beings make the world a better place for them having been through it. They don’t take & suck from the world all the livelong day.
Jay Adams was a violent bigot and drug addict. Not sure why he gets so much praise just because he shredded, while he completely let himself go and watched his life unravel. Dude had so many second chances and just kept blowing it.
A: Bullshit. Jay Adams wasn't a bigot. B: His life was doing the exact opposite of unraveling. C: What a sh!tty thing to say. Who the F- are you to judge him? As far as I can see - the answer is: 'NOBODY'. Jay Adams was a great guy. You're 'full of it' - and yourself, it sounds like.

Wow man he looks just like Jay
Stayed in a room at Bungalows Zicatela early 90’s. Opened a drawer and carved into the wood was Jay Adams was here.
That would have been epic to see
Seven you are such a good dude. Your Dad would be proud. Keep pushin
Warms my heart to you, a son, keeping your dad’s spirit alive. I’m in Philly and your Pop is a legend here and everywhere kid. I know he’s looking down on you with a smile on his face.
Seven is the spitting image of his father
Jay is beyond legend
RIP Jay Adams! Big Fan! Houston Tx!

JAYBOY FOREVER.
As an foreigner looking in, Dogtown and the Zboy era was a very important part of American culture that shamelessly get overlooked and undervalued.
never thought about it like that, very true.
Best chunk of media I have seen in a bit
Legacies are forever. Bless you Seven 🙏
WE LOVE YOU SEVEN!!

Sounds like this all lives in your head for free .
@ boot licker, that’s all u got?
He doesn't want to be himself. He wants to be his dad. It's actually pretty sad.
