OMG, this video is giving me life. What I love about it is that even though the soundscape and musical style are very modern and contemporary, Liza is still busting out those classic Fosse moves - almost as if she needs to remind us of who she was.
I thought this was crap when I heard it. But this a MASTERPIECE!! my gay genes can't stop coming back to it. This isn't even my particular like of music.
Only just discovered the album ‘Results’ by mistake and it’s a corker! Born in 1989, I had never imagined Liza had done late 80’s electro pop and really well! What a tune and EXTRA camp video giving us everything we need!
Didn't even know a singer named Liza existed. I'm a listener who is into electronic music and love PSB. When PSB collaborates with a singer, it 's always a good song. David Bowie - Space boy 1996 and medley with Gloria Gaynor, I will survive - It's a sin (in late 1990's) and this one's great too.
Finally, the real official video is out there. Michael Musto was making negative comments on FB about another video, thinking it was the official one. I knew my memory was right.
Pet Shop Boys did a fantastic job here, they brought out the best in her in a late 80s European synthpop style. As they said years later: "worlds collided", with amazing results, just like Liza's album was named. I wish they would have done something similar for Eartha Kitt
Results was her best album it was just amazing it still is and her stylist and make up artist all through this album was amazing she looked fantastic! I hope wiser would consider doing something similar like a sequel to this album for us it would be great and I believe she can still do it
if a singer wasnt as good of an actor as Liza is, this overly dramatic scenes would have appeared cheezy...with lizas facial expressions, it actually touches me...and makes me feel like, this is not just "a video" but Liza played scenes, that were part of her life once
I know she's an Oscar winner, but she, like her mother, is such an underrated actress. This could have been such an over the top disaster, and while the video is over the top, her acting is not. She is so darn good and gives just enough for it to be effective and keep up with the pace of the video. Her eyes are also so expressive.
@LT It doesn't matter if it's the highest honor. You were the best actor(ess) THAT YEAR. A lot of the actors that win them don't even have careers today. When you think of Liza, Cabaret is usually what people know her for. She has countless other performances that people will not even see. I don't get why people think winning an Oscar is the end all be all. Rita Moreno just said last week that winning all of the awards is great, but you need the roles to follow up with to have a great career. She has an Oscar for one role. I have not ever seen Liza Minnelli on any best actress of all time lists. She is still vastly underrated as an actress.
I adore Liza's look here and love her hair. She was really cool when she worked with the PSB's. It's a shame she stopped after that and went back musical theatre which seems to have Defined her career but should'nt have, because she never grew as an artist after that. Her mother seemed to grow despite all her issues with mental health and addiction. Liza had some of this too but seemed to ride on her laurels and Cabaret career. In any event, she is fabulous here - even though by today's standards the whole 80s look and feel with the wind Machine and floating blue silk fabric is kind of dated. But the music and her voice remains stunning, mellifluous and timeless. Love it! And love you Liza!
I think it difficult to know for sure because so much of her career was unrecorded. She did so much live performance stuff and that doesn't always translate on youtube.
My feeling is they were doing an omage to liza-ness. The wind machine and hand-jazz was out of place the year this video was made. It's not a time period issue it's a liza issue; in the best way.
Brilliant album. Check out "And If There Was Love" which features the chilly percolating sounds of Pet Shop Boys and Liza reading Shakespeare's Sonnet 94 in its entirety. So ridiculously good.
It is a fantastic album , I liked Love Pains although prefer the Hazell Dean version released same time. Funny you mention If there was love I played the album recently and thought at times it could be Dusty singing it, at times a bit similar to Nothing Has Been Proved. Agreed though, great song great album,,,,,
@@chrismarshall723 I completely agree with you! Hazell Dean - Love Pains (especially the Rawhide & Bullwhip Mix) is one of my favorite Hi-NRG songs of all time. and Liza does a pretty great version too. But damn if Hazell Dean isnt underrated as hell!
Liza's agent at that time, Gene Simmons (of KIss rock band) told her to do this album as a change of genre from her usual music. He was right- it was a big hit with gay men. I wonder why she didn't do any more dance music?
Lady Ga Ga should play Liza in any biopic about her. She could've even played Judy instead of Renee Zelwegger but if they do a Liza biopic, please choose Ga ga as she has the musical skill, queer fan-base, style and italianate facial Features (big eyes, eye brows, Roman nose and lips) to carry off Judy/Liza absolutely.
Saint Cyr you know what’s crazy madonna is also Italian and her older sister looks just like Liza idk what she does now but i know back in the day she use to model but liz eyes are so mesmerising and i feel the 80s and Gene Simmons from kiss really brought out the best in her say what you want about kiss and gene Simmons but they discovered huge talent like Van Halen and helped careers like liz
denoting or relating to a sexual or gender identity that does not correspond to established ideas of sexuality and gender, especially heterosexual norms.
@andrewschneider7657 you are absolutely right! Selena Gomez for Linda Rodstand. GAGA Amy Winehouse with her voice. She could do a stellar performance. Miley could do a killer Madonna performance.
Nice all the references to old movies, M-G-M Musicals in particular (I do get that there are others). But the overall effect is an accent on her talent and not a splashy trick that overwhelms her talent. ( I'm just taking a break from listening to it several times and now several times more).
I think this is the best collab she did with Neil and Chris! This track slaps hard!
Results is her best album ever!
I agree :) It's wonderful !
So glad to have found this masterpiece
Agreed!!!❤❤❤
Am happy to have shot this music video as DoP. Director was Brian Grant.
Can you remaster it !
I'm an 80s kid. I loved 80s synth pop (still do). I thought I'd heard it all, till I discovered this track today. Well done Ms. Minnelli
Man your Lucy that era Was Beautiful ⭐️👍🏿⭐️🤟🏿⭐️
The whole album is superb. That extra sound from the pet shop boys.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Liza did what alot of singers should do today: new wave synth pop.
baba, bette , glooia, etcdebieron hacer l omismo
Love it alwYs
All of the American Idols and The Voice should be doing dance and electro pop. Too many going the acoustic route which isn't successful.
Only because the Pet Shop Boys did all the work
AND SO LOVELY IN HER STYLE AND EMOTIONTS
OMG, this video is giving me life. What I love about it is that even though the soundscape and musical style are very modern and contemporary, Liza is still busting out those classic Fosse moves - almost as if she needs to remind us of who she was.
Yes Liza is doing Liza it's wonderful
Michael Jackson also used those moves a lot, especially in the video "Smooth Criminal"
Ha, the chair choreography seems to resemble that of I Love a Piano
Right!
Wearing Halstons all along the way too ..
ONE OF THE BEST, MOST OVERDRAMATIC BUT AMAZING VIDEOS EVER!!!!!

It was a very random protect that no one expected but what a terrific album . Very popular in the Uk
@@tadge72 Here in Germany it was also quite a big hit
the magic touch of Pet shop boys
I love "Results," but it wasn't a huge success in the US. I don't know why?? Liza didn't receive any radio airplay when her singles were released.
@@tadge72 very popular in Spain too
I remember dancing to this at Studio One in West Hollywood back in the day.
Pet Shop Boys production is right over there, giving that cool rythm
I love this period in her career. She's glamorous.
The most encapsulating eyes in history
Yes they are.
"encapsulating"! you could not find a better word!
More like upside down eyes in history
You mean "mesmerizing".
@@erreiptYes, he could. "Encapulate" means to be succinct. Eyes can't be encapsulating.
The album RESULTS is a masterpiece!!!
So right
Yes!!! 😻😻😻😻
You nailed it!
How did it not go to number 1.......?????!!!
Fact....went thru 4 CDs...💓
Hope they remaster this album ! Her best work .. she should have continued in this direction . Her theatrical vocal delivery perfect for electronica
you're smart. I totally agree.
I agree! Her music career would be sitting pretty 30 years later staying in the Electronica genre.
It was remastered many times!!! The last just few years ago...a four discs edition..
It has already remastered a few years ago. I hope this will come across as good news to you! 😀
I love how she brought Fosse in.
And all
The Halston looks
This really shows what a performer Liza is. Heard this for the first Time ever. Soooo good
This song goes out to ALLL the love bombers!
This lady has done many brilliant things, and this is one of them.
they turned the camp dial up to 11 for Liza in this video!
Liza sure looks good here! Love the groovy haircut!
It's a fantastic album. The videos kill it. Just weird. The psb did her a great favor. I ❤️ this record
The ultimate diva. Great performance!
Song & video are incredibly progressive for Liza! She nails Both! Another of my faves from "Results" album. 😻
I bought this album when it came out in 89, on cassette tape, I must buy it on CD. It's a good album
One of the PSB's best albums!!!
A fun fusion of 80s new wave and Broadway.
Such class, such style, such talent.
This is like the most amazing thing ever! i had no idea
She is so Beautiful
liza minelli, 80s synth pop diva!
I love it!!! It's artsy with a powerful message and it's our Liza who oozes talent with every step she takes!! ❤
Masterpiece ❤️

As always, a Pet Shop Boys masterpiece.

They did the same with Dusty Springfield too in the late 80s

Literally watching this channel as the videos were uploaded.
Liza is the Queen! fight me otherwise
An equal one is her beloved mother Judy Garland.
Speaking of Queens, there are plenty commenting on this video
Matt Taylor why do gay men always make it a competition between women? Fuck. Off.
This is really cool. High camp. Warhol would have loved it. She’s insanely talented
Fantastic song, had no idea it was by Liza!
SIMPLY BRILLIANT
This is my new favorite thing!
Lovely talented Liza.
Me and my first love used to love this song… thank you Liza for great memories

Wishful thinking, sadly. I doubt she is up to do anything with recording, anymore.
Amazing
WOW. That was Amazing! 💥
Happy birthday Liza :)
Simultaneously one of the campest and most 80s things I've ever seen - how can I not love it?
That contour!
Seriously this is my favourite music video ever! ❤️😍❤️
This is a classic used to mix this with war of the worlds in the club and went down a treat.
Director: “Miss Minnelli which 80s video cliche would you like to feature in your video?”
Liza: “All of them”
You're not wrong, but every decade has its production cliches.

@@LT-kq4uv because she only won an Oscar for one role.
