I remember back in the day watching an interview with Pet Shop Boys about why they covered this song. They said they felt U2 were a "Vegas act". It's now 2023 and WOW how right they were!!!
Uh uh. PSB wanted to turn a rock song into a disco song thinking rightly it's going to be a hit. Bono took the song as sarcasm but after an explanation f2f, all was well.

Группа Pet Shop Boys записала много кавер-версий на песни других исполнителей, но при этом их не портили, а просто делали их в своём фирменном электронном стиле.
Pet Shop Boys versus U2. No contest... the Pet Shop Boys are king ! They've so many iconic songs that it would take an age to list them all. One, and Pride are U2s best, but you could name over 10 timeless classics from the Pet Shop Boys.
I love both artists, but you should revisit U2 some more: With or Without You, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Where the Streets Have No Name, I Will Follow, Pride (In the Name of Love), Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Year's Day, Mysterious Ways, One, Beautiful Day, Walk on, Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of, Vertigo, Every Breaking Wave
U2 have won the most amount of Grammys than any band. They are at least in the top 15 - 30 best selling artist of all time and have the 5th highest grossing tour of all time. None of these seem as important as the fact they have stayed relevant for decades releasing music in the 1980s to the 2000s constantly reinventing themselves. Pet Shop Boys might be a good band but they don’t have the anywhere near the level of influence and relevancy as U2.
@@henrydavel1440 grammys don't mean squat. they gave a bunch of grammys to terrible music. they gave one to milli vanilli and they didn't even sing. U2 hasn't made a worthwhile album since "all that you can leave behind" as they've been coasting on their legacy and bono is still a turd.
PSB has made better albums and they've been more consistent as i love their cover of "all the young dudes". U2... they've become this bloated band that does these overblown visuals and coasting on their legacy.
