Yes great respect and that tells me a lot more about Neil than it does Dusty. He had a vision to have Dusty and only Dusty do the song and she Aced it. In the official video she lights up the screen on her close up shots showing her incredible beauty and eyes of an angel. That voice!! There can only be one Dusty and may she RIP.
I seem to recall Dusty saying that when she got the call she wasn't sure she wanted to go back to singing and when she met the PSB she asked what they wanted her to sound like and their reply was to sound like Dusty, in other words be herself, it worked perfectly
Bravo to the PSB for resurrecting the career of arguably Britain's best pop singer ever. Even in the soul category Dusty was first class. She so deserved this chance and what a cracking song.
I read that the record label did not want Dusty Springfield due to some of her erratic behavior, but PSB were adamant that they have her. And here we are.
In "those days" people sang freefall. No tweaks or "stuff" to help. Dusty simply had a wonderful voice and the Pet Shop Boys realised it. Music has no barriers and it is timeless.
I have to confess I was never a PSB fan, but I will always be grateful to them for bringing Dusty back, to recognition for the great singer she always was.
One of the best female singers of all time!! 👍👏 boy did she have some pipes! Her voice was and will always be so recognisable by just the first few notes sung..she was so incredibly gifted.. singing with the angels now sweet Dusty..😔 rest in heavenly peace darling lady..🙏🕊️❤️🙏
She sounds terrific here, no doubt about that! The song fits her voice perfectly! Glad she decided to team up with the PSB to perform their biggest hit. 😎👍❤
I love how they wrote this song with only her in mind, Madonna, Kylie and others wanted to sing it. They traveled to the US where Dusty was living as a recluse in a motel and talked her into it. ❤
@@christianp.3798 she was trying to start a pop career at this time. Err the year “I should be so lucky” and “the locomotion” came out? Oh yeah 1987! She got her wish with ‘In denial’!
@@simonrichards6739 ‘Starting her career but somehow wanted to sing this song with the PSB’. Why does the story seem, oh I don’t know, embellished to make your story look better.
This is my favorite PSB and Dusty song. I like other songs that Dusty recorded earlier in her career but this is definitely the best out of all of them. I like other PSB songs but nothing can ever top this!
As a rocker, and an American, I don’t really listen to a lot of this type of music. But the Pet Shop Boys were an exception to me. Great songwriting is great songwriting. And Dusty Springfield’s voice in this song…parts that were written for her it seems, we’re magical. No matter what I am doing, when this song comes on, I stop what I am doing and listen to every magical note.
She was really struggling for money at this point and was considered "washed up." This song brought her back. Someone with her talent should be celebrated and she is now held up as one of our greatest musicians. Her voice is magnificent. Pet shop boys are always fabulous.❤❤
Great music by the Pet Shop Boys, this is one of my favorites. It was a great move to bring in Dusty to contribute her remarkable talent. Be at peace Dusty!
“The song with no chorus” - that was how the Pet Shop Boys referred to this one on the quiet, but it had a bevy of other assets to offset that. Dusty Springfield for one, still able to invest a song with lovelorn ache with just one husk of her voice. Add to that synthesized horns that actually work and a melody that’s bottled melancholy, and it’s another regal single from Tennant and Lowe.
Neil, Dasty, and Chris were very young at that time. I used to listen their song so often. My young memories. I knew Pet Shop Boys still continue performing. Very good thing 😊
Omg! What an exceptional woman she was! She made this song what it was! And the PSB brought Dusty right back to the top where she always belonged! Sweet sweet lady!❤
I've always liked this song but especially for the Pet Shop Boys having the legendary Dusty Springfield on. Just after highschool looking for my future, doing just fine 2023..., 🎉 !!!

Heard this song for the first time 30 years ago when I was at work. Dusty’s voice went through me like lightning. Her voice was strong and perfect. Loved it even more with Daryl Hall. She is missed.💔
I love the deference Neil shows towards Dusty. A truelly respectful guy.
He completely allowed her to indulge. A fantastic gentleman.
Флирт у них. Слепой не заметит😊

She made a huge comeback
they're lipsinking....
It is a great video and a great song Done by two singers that totally compliment one another
So what if they're lipsinking it's their music...many do not sound the same or even good live....sound chambers can do a lot😊
Actually it's lip syncing
This song was made for Dusty! She made this song. Period. 💕💕💕
My favorite Pet Shop Boys' song of all time. Second would be "Domino Dancing."

The pet shop boys songwriting is severely underrated. They deserve to be in the rock hall of fame
The R&R HoF is a scam, the PSB don't need to waste their time.
100% love them and dusty
This song was written by Allee Willis, who wrote September and Boogie Wonderland for Earth, Wind and Fire
Not true .she co wrote it with nt and cl
@@michaelsrowland i was only speaking generally, but both of them along with allee willis are credited with this song

She wasn't English, she'd Irish, her name was Mary O Brien, her ashes are scattered over the cliffs of Moher in the West of Ireland.
Great song, but Dusty made it even more amazing. 👍
Her timbre's voice was unique
SHE made this song work!! Love her♥️♥️♥️
...effortlessly....
Inject this in my veins. I just learned, today, who Dusty was - I knew Wishin' & Hopin' but didn't know Dusty helped make this classic!
Realmente
Dusty made this song! She came right back to the top and stayed there! What an amazing woman she was! Rip sweet lady!❤
What a wonderful woman what a wonderful career shout out to Pet Shop Boys who could have picked anyone but went with Dusty great choice
Dusty was their great choice & by the way they relaunched her career. Dusty had been unfairly out of sight for some 15 years
RIP Dusty, the world is sadder for your passing.
Agree with your words, Dusty unforgettable 😢❤
Even Aretha Franklin was in awe of our Dusty. She had the most beautiful voice.
The Pet Shop Boys bring back some beautiful 80's memories.
Dusty Springfield had a great career before hooking up with the pet shop boys , this is THE cherry on top of the cake . Well done .
🍒 🎂
In "those days" people sang freefall. No tweaks or "stuff" to help. Dusty simply had a wonderful voice and the Pet Shop Boys realised it. Music has no barriers and it is timeless.
I think that Dusty was really universal singer I can imagine her to sing even rock music. She looked great here in that black outfit
This is lip-synced
Tanks.
@@simonyricoolsyep, very obviously so as well, neil misses some of his lines, and dusty appears too drunk to sing, often holding the mic too far away
@@prisotams they sound fine live, so i don't know why it's not live except maybe this was a promotion for the song and they wanted it to be perfect

PET SHOP BOYS WERE GREAT ! HAVING DUSTY SPRINGFIELD RECORD WITH THEM WAS PURE GENIUS ! THIS WAS A HUGE FAVORITE AT "STUDIO ONE" IN WEHO !
They had huge chemistry
And she sounds absolutely perfect on the track. PSB knew she was right and fought for her. Glad they gave her this much deserved nod.
