An amazing blue eyed soul singer. The most beautiful woman ever who's voice flowed like silk.and she didn't believe any of this. I wish I could have an opportunity to see her sing in concert! Guess the tabloids were more interested in her private life than her singing! So sad she couldn't be left alone to enjoy her life instead of hounded by the press.amazing lady. With a voice out of this world! We love you Mary obrien!!
At this point, a response was presumably filtered out by the channel operators. The author of the post is not informed about the "invisibilization" of his or her comment in this practice made possible by youtube. Since the answer alone remains visible within the commentator's account, the commentator still believes that he or she is participating in the discussion. On many youtube channels, the methodology of filtering out is applied completely arbitrarily and in these cases represents a serious interference with the freedom of expression on a high-frequency social platform.
All they really did was to give her the sort of platform that she had been looking for. Dusty had always wanted to do this kind of music but never really had the opportunity until as you so rightly said Neil & Chris gave her that foundation. Chris is such a whiz when it comes to the synthesizers he really knows what he's doing. The sad thing was that we lost Dusty Springfield when she was still only 59, not particularly old at all but she died of breast cancer. However I am glad that she had the chance to do the album with the PSB. RIP Dusty Springfield. We love you.
What a great song!!! R.I.P. Dusty Springfield. Pet Shop Boys did a great job reviving her career in the late 80s. The songs they wrote for her are amazing- they fit her voice so well!

garry hastings NOT TRUE!! This song from the "Reputations" album was recorded in 1989. Dusty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1995. After a year of remission, the cancer returned and ultimately claimed her life in 1999 at the age of 59.
I'm not trying to be mean or sarcastic in any way at all but I genuinely feel sorry for you because it's a wonderful song. I'm wondering if your comment is a joke. These days everything is easy to find.
I have always recognised the similarity between the 60s and the 80s. Both decades were unique. Both decades had an energy that wasn't present in other decades. Both decades were extraordinary. Another aspect to the 80s is that it featured so many 60s icons who were still delivering class music like this particularly special song from beautiful Dusty. For people like myself, born just after the 60s had ended, it was awesome to live through the 80s and get to experience some of what made the 60s so special.
The main difference with 80's music was that music technology became more advanced. Thumpier and faster baselines, distinctive sax with piano. Add that to a 60's style song and you're probably right.
I don't know why this woman touches my heart in such a violent way. This song makes me happy and sad at the same time. To me, she's a true icon. A true human being. Ant that voice. How much I miss her as an artist and as a beacon of hope.

I always think Dusty had one of the best comebacks of all time. After all those drug hazed years in California she came back and had enormous success . She looked fabulous and still had "it"
While in California she recorded at least two Lp's. The fantastic "Cameo" LP with the songs 'Tupelo Honey' and 'The other Side of life' and the best one "EASY EVIL". Also, she recorded "It Begins Again" Lp in 70's and I think some others. So, while she lived in the then accepted drug culture of California in the 70's she was still recording and also did some amazing t.v. appearances and Supper Club performances. My favorite live performances are of "Since I Fell For You" on two different shows.

Think Dusty experienced a heightened sense of joy as well as a heightened sense of pain throughout her life. She would say herself that she, "Ran on emotions."
She had bipolar and was in the closet, at least publicly. That must have been hard. But she was class. And, had quite the sense of humour too. She used to do back up singing under the pseudonym "Gladys Thong".

Dusty Springfield - In Private Take your time and tell me Where you lie I realize That we've been found out this time We should stay together If we can But what you've planned Means there's a difference between [Chorus] What you're gonna say In private You still want my love We're in this together And what you're gonna do In public Say you were never in love That you can remember So discreet I never tried to meet Your friends or interfere I took a back seat between [Chorus] What you gonna say, eh When you run back to your wife? I guess it's just the story of my life What you gonna say? So take your time And tell me Where did you learn Oh, I may publicize That there's a difference between [Chorus] Tell me what you gonna say In private?, oh, oh, oh What you gonna say? What you gonna do? Baby, what you gonna say?
this is very true1 reminds me of a certain part of my lifeI was in an abusive relationship (My interpretation of the song anyway) but the words ring home to me. He always acted different when we was in public, but as soon as things became private it was a different story! This song empowers me now! I have come from that dark place 3 years ago and bcome a much stronger, happier person! Thank you Dusty! for making a piece of music I can relate too 1000% xxxx
Loved Dusty's voice since I first heard it, she had a clarity in her singing that very few other singers achieved or had. there was never a time where I had to reverse a track because I miss heard a word plus she never once sang off key, she was a perfectionist at every song that she ever made, whatever she song you could tell it was Dusty, had she lived she would have now been 83 years old. Sadly missed Dust / Mary O'Brian.
Love this lady, so sad she's no longer with us, the world lost one of it's true great, no true amazing talents, thank you for everything, we all miss you. X

Say you were never in love
That you can remember
So discreet
I never tried to meet
Your friends or interfere
I took a back seat between
[Chorus]
What you gonna say, eh
When you run back to your wife?
I guess it's just the story of my life
What you gonna say?
So take your time
And tell me
Where did you learn
Oh, I may publicize
That there's a difference between
[Chorus]
Tell me what you gonna say
In private?, oh, oh, oh
What you gonna say?
What you gonna do?
Baby, what you gonna say?
That voice it just goes straight to my heart wonderful!
As the old saying says stolen fruits taste the sweetest x
Hello from Brazil.. I love this clip
Was only 16 when this came out, didn't appreciate it back then , stumpled upon it again, great song and very catchy... RIP Dusty, taken way too soon.x
I love this song! First time i heard it was in a 15 Birthday Party. Since then I kept it on my mind for EVER!
this is very true1 reminds me of a certain part of my lifeI was in an abusive relationship (My interpretation of the song anyway) but the words ring home to me. He always acted different when we was in public, but as soon as things became private it was a different story! This song empowers me now! I have come from that dark place 3 years ago and bcome a much stronger, happier person! Thank you Dusty! for making a piece of music I can relate too 1000% xxxx

I interpret this song as an anthem to her being in a secret same sex relationship. She wanted to be open but her partner didn't. RIP Beautiful Soul.
Good Luck Ben Hope your in a happier place now
God bless her and the Pet Shop Boys for convincing her to come out of retirement
"god bless her" yeah he blessed her allright, with breast cancer. shes been dead for 20 years now.
@@maozedong44 And she is in a better place now.
True !
@ Mao, this song came after Pet shop boys got her out of retirement.
Bruce Bolzoni This song Pet Shop Boys perfectly sang with Elton John! Thank to the PsB and What Have I Done ..... I know Dusty
