At this point, a response was presumably filtered out by the channel operators. The author of the post is not informed about the "invisibilization" of his or her comment in this practice made possible by youtube. Since the answer alone remains visible within the commentator's account, the commentator still believes that he or she is participating in the discussion. On many youtube channels, the methodology of filtering out is applied completely arbitrarily and in these cases represents a serious interference with the freedom of expression on a high-frequency social platform.

All they really did was to give her the sort of platform that she had been looking for.
Dusty had always wanted to do this kind of music but never really had the opportunity until as you so rightly said Neil & Chris gave her that foundation. Chris is such a whiz when it comes to the synthesizers he really knows what he's doing.
The sad thing was that we lost Dusty Springfield when she was still only 59, not particularly old at all but she died of breast cancer.
However I am glad that she had the chance to do the album with the PSB.
      RIP Dusty Springfield.
      We love you.

Guess the tabloids were more interested in her private life than her singing! So sad she couldn't be left alone to enjoy her life instead of hounded by the press.amazing lady. I have always recognised the similarity between the 60s and the 80s. Both decades were unique. Both decades had an energy that wasn't present in other decades.
    Both decades were extraordinary.
Another aspect to the 80s is that it featured so many 60s icons who were still delivering class music like this particularly special song from beautiful Dusty.
For people like myself, born just after the 60s had ended, it was awesome to live through the 80s and get to experience some of what made the 60s so special.

    • @Dead-Ball-Situation
      @Dead-Ball-Situation 6 месяцев назад

The main difference with 80's music was that music technology became more advanced. Thumpier and faster baselines, distinctive sax with piano. Add that to a 60's style song and you're probably right.

While in California she recorded at least two Lp's. The fantastic "Cameo" LP with the songs 'Tupelo Honey' and 'The other Side of life' and the best one "EASY EVIL". Also, she recorded "It Begins Again" Lp in 70's and I think some others. So, while she lived in the then accepted drug culture of California in the 70's she was still recording and also did some amazing t.v. appearances and Supper Club performances. My favorite live performances are of "Since I Fell For You" on two different shows.

    We should stay together
    If we can
    But what you've planned
    Means there's a difference between
    [Chorus]
    What you're gonna say
    In private
    You still want my love
    We're in this together
    And what you're gonna do
    In public
Say you were never in love
    That you can remember
    So discreet
    I never tried to meet
    Your friends or interfere
I took a back seat between
    [Chorus]
    What you gonna say, eh
When you run back to your wife?
I guess it's just the story of my life
    What you gonna say?
    So take your time
    And tell me
    Where did you learn
    Oh, I may publicize
    That there's a difference between
    [Chorus]
Tell me what you gonna say
    In private?, oh, oh, oh
    What you gonna say?
    What you gonna do?
    Baby, what you gonna say?

Think Dusty experienced a heightened sense of joy as well as a heightened sense of pain throughout her life. She would say herself that she, "Ran on emotions."

She had bipolar and was in the closet, at least publicly. That must have been hard. But she was class. And, had quite the sense of humour too. She used to do back up singing under the pseudonym "Gladys Thong".

By the time Dusty Springfield passed away we were still playing Reputation and In Private on the radio in Argentina and announced them as "classics".

One of the best voices ever. And the PSBs brought some of the "Wall of Sound" feel to this production. The bois would hang from the rafters when this song came on in the clubs. And...many of us in that generation totally identified with the lyrics. This was before the time when it was "OK to be gay" in large cities. Some guys you knew from the clubs would ignore you when we were all in business suits the next Monday morning.

Where the heck is the *LOVE* thing to click on???? Thumbs up just isn't enough for this. MY gosh...she was GREAT!!! I missed out on too many years of her singing. The 70s/80s stunk for me. Gotta make up for it...so now is a good time.

First listened to Dusty Springfield in the mid 60s, those school years, on radio (wireless) and rediffusion (wired)! No Tv. After all those years since, we still love her, still listen to her songs...simply unforgettable! Great lady. Thanks.

Loved Dusty's voice since I first heard it, she had a clarity in her singing that very few other singers achieved or had. there was never a time where I had to reverse a track because I miss heard a word plus she never once sang off key, she was a perfectionist at every song that she ever made, whatever she song you could tell it was Dusty, had she lived she would have now been 83 years old. Sadly missed Dust / Mary O'Brian.
