starwindocean It was composed when Barcharach was very affected by Brazilian Bossa Nova...... All arrangements, percussion and style are BOSSA NOVA at its best.
I remember this song clearly from fall of 1967. My future wife and I attended different colleges and could only see each other about every other weekend. The words nailed the feelings at that time in our lives....and still do after over 45 yrs.
You're so lucky to have grown up in those times.. my mum was born in 1962, she remembers those times fondly & being a young adult in the 80's which must have been awesome as that decade is highly praised & romanticized. I'm extremely envious I missed out :(
This song by Dusty Springfield is as fresh as the first day , she sang it. A timeless melody that brings good feelings now as it did then. God bless you , 🙏 Dusty. Kevin Phoenix ✝️ 😊
In 1967, I was 14 years old. When I heard this song and saw the woman who sang it, I was in LOVE!!! She had it man! Sorry that she died young at a month shy of her 60th birthday in 1999. RIP, Dusty! We loved your voice!
Dear Laura, i think Dusty Springfield is not the one that can pull it off. Listen to Dionne Warwick version in the same era which was perfect ruclips.net/video/0F1Km_nTDWw/видео.html
It’s February 9th 2023, and Burt Bacharach died today. It’s so sad, because I it felt like he would always be in the world, like his beautiful songs. I came here, because this gorgeous original Dusty Springfield original, with its bossa nova stylings is the best. And it’s one of my favourite songs ever. RIP Burtie B, you and your music will always be in my heart and part of my life ❤
Being born in 64, I grew up listening to this beautiful song in the back seat of a Chevy wagon and our Stereo console full of Burt Bacharach/Hal David music. I’ve listened to probably every version of this song, including Chris Botti and his wonderful duets, but always find myself coming back to Dusty’s version. This one has always "done it” for me. She’s absolutely magnificent! ❤️🎵🎤
I too have heard the other versions. But there is only one that I _listen_ to. And now, for those of us who can't get enough... Not so my friend, I started listening to 🎶 music like this when I was about your age. It never gets old. It takes your mind and soul to another place and time. And when you get there you never want to come back. Perhaps you haven't gotten there yet, but trust me it's like nothing you've ever seen or felt...Peace and Love...
Love your moniker "Agent" Jorge -- Very nice! There's hope in this world as long as young folks such as yourself appreciate such music. If you haven't already, try Shirley Horn: "Here's To Life." One of the most beautiful songs written... In fact, this is what I want played at my funeral. ruclips.net/video/MZ8tozU5JII/видео.html

DJ. DJ please go along with me there is a gentleman who's a big Dusty Kringle band along with a lot of his other friends as well and I just happen to pick him because he wrote in a lot about Miss Springfield to be able to make him and his wife happy he's 64 years old and he feels like he said $180 but I told him you're only as young as you feel so the songs are going to be from The Thomas crown of fear Windows of your mind and Dusty Springfield sung the from the movie that ended up winning the academy award for the best original song in 2004 with the movie was made in 19 68 next taking Kingdom memory Lane he loves Dusty in Memphis SpongeBob the second song is don't forget about me and the third song is no easy way down won by Dusty is I can't make it alone and I told him that he just happened to be the man of the hour and because it's a couple of days away from Christmas this would be from you and I. So keep in mind this minute 64 years old so they won't be no shaking your booty type of songs but there's a lot of people that love Miss Dusty and will be able to enjoy this with him and even if she's listening to herself her and her friends as well.
DJ much love don't forget about me no easy way down in the last one I can't make it alone all come from the album called Dusty in Memphis. The year 1969 so tonight will be considered a little bit this is a little bit of that Bing Crosby have yourself a Merry Little Christmas with the one that you showed me the other night with that guy singing that was nice. Dusty in Memphis was a very very popular album in the year which was made. DJ please send something over to where I am letting me know if you found Dusty in Memphis but those songs again 1960 9 because I will be saying something about what we're doing p I'll see you when I get there you'll know I'm there okay.
It's February 9, 2023. I just learned that Burt Bacharach has passed away. This is the first song I turned to. I was 8 when Casino Royale came out. My parents had a pretty good "hi-fi" and played this song a LOT. Yes, Dionne Warwick is most strongly associated with Bacharach songs, but for me, this is THE quintessential composition, arrangement, and vocal.
She still takes my breath away...no one seems interested in commented about the legendary Dusty Springfield...never mind we loved her now ...and forever...
jake my thoughts are the same as yours ,what complete utter joy the 60s era bestowed on us ..The mind boggles at such musical talents for all and sundry to listen to xx LOL XXX
I've always loved this song - this rendition - I didn't know it was a Burt Bacharach song. What a powerhouse in the music industry. RIP, Mr. Bacharach.
I remember this song playing during my parents cocktail parties and at pool parties in the late 1960's. Wow I was about 7 years old then, but this music along with my parents Wes Montgomery albums are seared in my memories.
This quite very possibly the greatest recording of all time, if not one of the greatest pop songs of all time. Just listen. I'm 71 and have heard them all.
I was a new Air Force Lieutenant in 1967 at Lowery AFB in Denver when the song came out. The song takes me back 66 years to a simpler time. My how time flies.
One of the most beautiful love songs ever written sung by one of the most beautiful voices ever. Hats off to Burt Bacharach. Dusty Treasure Springfield
Greatest Brit female vocalist ever - I was 13 when this was released -and just like everyone else who has commented below, never forgot it. It's imprinted on my mind. Thank you Dusty - you are incomparable!!!!!!
It's 2021 and I'm in my 40s and only now am I hearing this song for the first time. Found it watching an infomercial about old classic love songs and slow songs from the 50s and 60s. This is outstanding music that needs to be replayed again
Just close your eyes, let yourself feel the music and LISTEN to her voice... the tears will flow of a lost time of when life was simpler. I miss those days. 😢
I'm 30. The first time I heard this was when my dad had me watch Casino Royal (I think it was a james bond parody) and it had an entire soundtrack by burt bacharach and this song was on it!! I'm so grateful my dad introduced me to so many great movies and songs from his era and now I can share them with all my friends. :)
I have only recently discovered that my family is directly related to Dusty Springfield and her brother. She was my grandfather's first cousin. So honoured and proud to have such a great woman in my family. RIP. Lots of Love ❤🙏🕊

Totally agree.. I was born in 1965 and heard my dad playing this in the early 70s and from that I found a love in music which has always stayed with me, I went to see Burt in London about 6 years ago, loved every minute, actually felt like a teenager.

I was 21 when this song came out. I’ll be 77 in February. Still gives me chills hearing it. So many memories attached to it for me. ❤️
Rip Burt, you and Hal can start all over again, one of the greatest writing partnerships in music history.
Love is timeless and so are the deep feelings that this masterpiece sends to our souls. Speaks to our current love or to that which awaits us.
I'm only 63 but this one takes me back to a better time. She's just sublime! A true classic. Now I'm going into a Dusty rabbit hole to relive some memories! Burt and Dusty a natural combination. Thanks to both! And thanks for posting this wonderful memory!
You're very welcome, John Dance-san!!

Enjoy.
Can't believe this was recorded in 1967! So sophisticated.... indeed great songs don't get old.
starwindocean It was composed when Barcharach was very affected by Brazilian Bossa Nova...... All arrangements, percussion and style are BOSSA NOVA at its best.
Music 🎵 Is Immortal ❤️💯🎵
I remember this song clearly from fall of 1967. My future wife and I attended different colleges and could only see each other about every other weekend. The words nailed the feelings at that time in our lives....and still do after over 45 yrs.
Thanks for sharing the story.....45 years from now I want to read that you 2 still feel that way :-)
Man that is beautiful, glad you found someone like that!
Aw what a nice story.
David L. Morehead how much longer do you expect them to be alive?
Michael Parker Sadly my friend, I see only 57 ⅔ years remaining for them, you, and me ~
The most beautiful love song ever. A true masterpiece delivered by the magnificent Queen of White Soul. Devine.
The sexiest song ever recorded! RIP Burt, you were one of the greatest songwriters of all time! Every single song of his was a gift to us all!
You'll never hear music like this again. I'm still listening 50 yrs later Nov 2019

This song takes me back to the '60s when I was a young child.
I was into bugs bunny and Disney than. Not until the early 70's and puberty did I listen
@PaigeAnn Forrest Wow, same year as me.
You're so lucky to have grown up in those times.. my mum was born in 1962, she remembers those times fondly & being a young adult in the 80's which must have been awesome as that decade is highly praised & romanticized. I'm extremely envious I missed out :(
@@dixienormous6969 Every lifetime has its pluses and minuses; I wish we had the tech you have today back then.

This song by Dusty Springfield is as fresh as
the first day , she sang it.
A timeless melody that

In 1967, I was 14 years old. When I heard this song and saw the woman who sang it, I was in LOVE!!! She had it man! Sorry that she died young at a month shy of her 60th birthday in 1999. RIP, Dusty! We loved your voice!
31 years old and loving this song!
My favourite Bacharach song sung by the only singer that can pull it off. RIP Burt & thank-you for your talent & genius.
I love Dusty Springfield. I as a singer I loved her voice. She's like a breath of fresh air
Mine too!❤❤
Dear Laura, i think Dusty Springfield is not the one that can pull it off. Listen to Dionne Warwick version in the same era which was perfect ruclips.net/video/0F1Km_nTDWw/видео.html
@@Noprofitable Ok, thanks!
Mine too. It is timeless.

Me too! Had the big records with that A&M label.
Perhaps I'm just the only teenager who loves music genre like this. A piece of classic song such as this makes my day complete.

This is so romantic, in my opinion. Try it with your special friend. K
Well, you have great taste, my friend so be true to yourself.

Burt is a genius, to put seemingly simple melody with wonderful chords. So little words so much story. I always admire that in music.
Truly, one of the greatest singles ever released.
Dusty & Burt created a timeless classic, a masterpiece ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥

Jim Jordan its ironic that this song popped into my head today just 2 days after I dyed my ponytail bright pink in support of breast cancer awareness month and found out 5 mins ago that dusty herself too died of breast cancer god bless you dusty and to all that lost their life to this terrible disease and strength to all the breast cancer survivors , and to my grandmother aunt ,and cousin who I lost to breast cancer
Black American singer Anita Baker did a wonderful tribute to this song in the mid 1990s. Extremely tasteful and well produced.
Not taking anything away from Dusty but Sergio Mendes did a wonderful version of this song as well
Dionne Warwick did, but I like this version too- so sultry

What a great memory. Why am I reminded of hiking in the Ramapo mountains. Tripping.
