I don’t wanna admit how long it took me before I realized I needed to change characters to continue progressing the story, but I’ll say it’s another game you’ve reviewed here that I’m not really getting into! A friend of mine had wild arms and we played the crap out of it, I got alter code f years later and just really enjoyed it such a good game with many fond memories. Good times
i never got to play any wild arms game but i remember being a kid and seeing images of these games in a magazine and thougth how cool it looked. it still apeals to me an rpg with western setting. i wish they brougth back these franshise back as a reboot.
I loved the Wild Arms series. Wild Arms 3 was one of my earliest rpgs i played on PS2. I enjoyed 4 and 5 as well. I really wish the franchise would return or we got remastered ports of 4 and 5. They did at least give us 3 on that short lived 'PS2 to PS4' program.
I played this for the first time only a year or two ago, and I was really surprised at how high quality the game was. It was just a no-frills classic JRPG done well, and those tend to be the ones that I like the most. People tend to be split on this but I was quite happy with the slightly more puzzle-centric approach to dungeons in this game, as it helps to combat the usual tedium. I was quite disappointed going into the sequel though, as the awful translation at times made it really hard to understand what was going on :(
I love and adore this series. I bought the first one in 2001 or 2002 when the local pawn shop I frequented had already sold Chrono Cross... To who I later found out was my mom and brother. It was a great December. I could only afford one so I had to pass up WA2 until the next summer or so when I found it at a yard sale.

.... even though they changed their title from "Wild ARMs" back to "Wild Arms" in later game releases, I'm forever trapped in my nostalgia and love for the original, I always capitalise the ARMs part of the title and always will :D God I love this series! Alter Code F is my favourite remake of any game that I've ever played, I'll never understand why so many series fans dislike it, I think it's magnificent and such a blast to play! Taking everything that made WA1 so good and amping it up with new characters, new stories, and just expanding everything :) Thanks for the awesome vid, Erick!
If you want some politely stated reasons, I could tell you what changes I disagreed with. 1. Rudy losing his sword for a gun made his prologues make no sense. There was no deniability he was an arm user. 2 Jack's sword techs got cheaper from use instead of items. Specifically you needed to find enemies higher level than you, which became a problem after you reached level 70 which happened to me before the final Alhazad fight. They changed how Force and MP interacted in a negative way. I also remember disliking some of the new puzzles but cant remember why. I have similar vague negative impressions on map traversal.
It's possible to kill the first boss of Rudy's prologue without using his hand cannon at all (and neither did the game encourage player to use it), and yet the villagers still banishes him anyway. Which is funny but doesn't make sense. The remake rectify this by basically having Rudy limited to his handcannon from the start, so the villagers saw him capable of using the arms, and therefore has valid reason to banish him. Also make much more sense that he couldn't handle other types of weapon given his background.

Great video! Wild Arms was such a fun game. I remember playing it back in the day when it came out and really enjoyed the world, the characters, the villains (especially Alhazad), and the magic system. The music, however, was the best and even some of my buddies in the army who didn't give a crap about rpg's liked the music as well. Also, I did not realize how rare Alter Code F is, so I am glad I picked up a copy of it back when it was readily available.
Honestly a wonderful RPG for the PS1. The vibe of this original work was just fantastic. And I never ever skipped the opening! Did you know if you let it sit at the start screen you get a hidden cut scene detailing the background of a particular character in the story?
Funny thing is to me, I liked wild arms more than almost all the bigger jrpg franchises. It was so fresh and different from the rest. It stood apart, sadly others didn’t agree. Such a great franchise

Very cool video! I am a huge fan of the series! You do have one error in this video: ARMs is officially translated as Ancient Relic Machines in the North American manual (see page 47). The translation for the original game is kind of weird though, and I have heard that this, among other things, was an odd choice by the localizers. You also see this with Belselk (should be Berserk), Jack (should be Zack), Rudy (should be Rody), Zeikfried (should be Siegfried), and Filgaia (should be Fargaia). Also as per Trigun, supposedly the devs were actually friends with Nightow, the creator of Trigun. You can actually see Vash the Stampede in a tiny cameo in Wild Arms 2! He appears in a tiny picture frame in one house!
My favorite ost extender, Alkahest, introduced me to this game, and the soundtrack is amazing. One day, I'll pick it up. Also, if there isn't one already, I'd love to see a 10 Things You Didn't Know about Shadow Hearts.

The first two was good. But when the style changed to the style from 3rd and onwards, I really love it. I'm really hoping sony will release them again on the upcoming service they'll start
Holy shit, I had no idea there was a remake of the first game. I immediately went to find a copy and I've been playing it for the past few hours. This is an incredible remake, this is what I'd hoped FF7R would be. I've been grinning like an idiot the whole time.
I bought WA1 because the intro was on repeat in the gamestore and it looked like an action rpg. (Its the flashback into Jacks history). Anyhow... I didn't regret it. I don't know how many times I've watched the intro on my brothers PSX.
I've been writing a novel based on Wild Arms. No, it's not a fanfic. It's my own original ideas based upon what Wild Arms gave us. I'm really bad at writing, but I improve everyday.
Enjoyed that, dug out my PAL copy (£29.99) and found cheats i had cut out of mags back then. Secret Aliens Item Duplication Solving the 5 chests of De La Mettalica. Also noted the boxart whilst sharing similar art the US layout looks a better.
Thanx for this video bro, this was my first RPG, i remember i didnt have a memory card and i played for 3 straight days and i had to shut down the ps1 xD
I remember playing Wild Arms 2nd Ignition on an illegal pirate in '99 (European, so never released here), finally got the chance to enjoy it proper thanks to PS+ Premium where it can now be played. Tremendous series, Sony should have made a new one after Rockstar struck gold with Red Dead Redemption
I find it interesting that Sony chose to release Wild Arms 1 so close to FF7. Sony heavily marketed FF7 (you can even see the Sony Symbol on the cover of FF7). I can only imagine that they tried to get it out earlier but didn't succeed. Releasing after FF7 would've been to its detriment. Wild Arms 1 just didn't have the budget or talent to outshine FF7, which would go on to be the most successful game in the series yet. So, release it a month early and hope for the best. And, hey, 1 million units for an RPG is fantastic! This was before FF7 made the genre crazy popular on consoles in the west. Prior to that you had a few successes. The original FF1 and Dragon Quest did sell well in the west, with the latter being heavily marketed by Nintendo Power (they would even give away copies of the first Dragon Quest game) and FF4 and FF6 did well enough in America but never saw release in Europe.
Wild Arms did have the talent to outshine it... the issue is FF7 was over hyped and the first real "flashy" game I can think of where it pushed visuals an unhealthy way. Had it not been pushed so hard FF7 would've gotten a completely different reaction from people especially with Wild Arms existing. FF7 is literally what ushered in the "Hallways and visual focus over gameplay" design in gaming. FF7 couldn't stand up on its own, it needs to be Final Fantasy and be pushed. Take that out... and it becomes a game with many plot holes, annoying minigames which take up space on every disc, and overly flashy visuals with random twists for the sake of twists.
Great video man. I always wished and hoped that Sony would bring back this series one day. It was one of the first rpgs I played back in the day, and I loved it. Too bad Sony doesn't have any balls, or they would take a chance and make a quality Wild Arms games. I'm sure with how popular jrpgs are right now, that it would sell really well.
First Wild Arms is the best one imo. Especially in regards to its music. In general the series has solid music but wild arms 1 is in top 10 soundtracks ever imo.
Love these fact videos! So many interesting little tidbits to find out. Also I love Wild Arms! 2 was my first and fave (controversial opinion I know haha). But I also just finished the remake (Wild Arms: Alter Code F) and loved it! The remixed music is GORGEOUS! And the graphics while not great are very colorful and help breath life into scenes that were stagnant in the original. It's still a bitch to find things on the map. Which is prob one of the only things I hate about Wild Arms. But it was a fun nostalgic game. Glad you like it too. Keep up the great vids!
I played and beat the game around the time it first came out. Then, a few years later, played it again. When it dropped on the PS3 store, I bought it again. I eventually played through it again in this last year and I streamed my playthrough. I have played Alter Code F, but never beat it due to the Abyss's confusing layout. I went back to it, got ambushed (1 character in the battle) and was immediately killed with an instant death move. Luckily for me, I know the person who has the game and they still have it complete in box with all of the stuff it came with. I'm partially to blame for them owning it though. I have played and beat WA2 and WA3, but briefly played 4, and never played 5. I think the hexagon system was a bit confusing, and I vouched not to play 4 until Alter Code F was finished...it's been 15 years since I last played it. Who knows if I will ever finish it. WA1 is just a masterpiece by itself. If you haven't played it, it is worth a shot.
Wild Arms was the first JRPG I ever played. I know the Gameplay and Story is absolute average but this game will have a spacial place in my heart forever ❤
I got into the Wild Arms series with Wild Arms 2 so I never did play the original one. But I did end up getting the remake on PS2 and loved that. It would have been cool if 2 got a PS2 remake as well
My mom and stepdad purchased a Ps2 with the 3rd game(or 4th? I always mix those 2 up. The one with VIrginia, Clive, Jet and...a name escapes me lol) and Final Fantasy 10. I loved them both but 10 held a spot. I NEVER finished all of Wild Arms, though. I would say it would be good for passing the time, now, for ME.

Enjoyed that, dug out my PAL copy (£29.99) and found cheats i had cut out of mags back then.
Secret Aliens
Item Duplication
Solving the 5 chests of De La Mettalica.
Also noted the boxart whilst sharing similar art the US layout looks a better.
Nice video. Really enjoyed this one!
I always loved the theme song! This game was excellent!
Really wish this series would return but this time as an action rpg... would love it
soundtrack and story for wild arms is spectacular
great video and game, loved the first one and was one of the first games i bought when the PS1 was new.
Very good video :) I always loved that series, wish I could play the remake it looks amazing.
Excellent video. I love Wild Arms!
Thanx for this video bro, this was my first RPG, i remember i didnt have a memory card and i played for 3 straight days and i had to shut down the ps1 xD
This was the first ever PS1 game I ever played back in the 90s
Every single Wild Arms game gives another explanation for what ARMS stands for.
About 2 days ago, I just made the connection of the song Ennio Morricone from the Good the Bad the Ugly and Lone Bird in the Shire in the game.
🌸❤️I could imagine Wild Arms as an action RPG and would certainly play it.❤️🌸
First Wild Arms is the best one imo. Especially in regards to its music. In general the series has solid music but wild arms 1 is in top 10 soundtracks ever imo.
I think it would be cool to see a remake of the first 3 games, using the battle mechanics of the 4th and 5th games
I want some side stories. 1 is a side story of Jane. 2 of the sword magess, 3 of that girl, Schrodinger I think, Maya. Done in the style of each game.
I thnik Wild Arms 1 still the best, but after they remake it on alter code f... Alter code F become my favourite series
I think an action rpg spin off of wild arms would be a great idea.
WA 3 explains that nanomachines change the surface of Filgaia all the time.
We need Wild Arms 1 & 2 ported to current gen consoles, no need for filters, maybe just remaster the AMV cut scenes.
one thing I know for sure. this series of game is just AWESOME. I loved them 🥰❤
Love these fact videos!
14:17 duplication glitch, i see.
very good game, one of the most infuriating puzzles i ever encountered , great OP , the only one that stuck with me.
Need wild arms 6, yaaaaaaaay... I m playing again wild arms 5 for nostalgia
Wild arms & 2 will always be my favorite.
I still have my physical copy of Alter Code F, 4 & 5. Such great games
Loved 1, 2 was interesting with the transformation thing, 3 was epic..... 4 and 5 I can't remember much of
Erick = Pedro Pascal of video games hahaha
the resemblance is uncanny
This is my favourite RPG series, still waiting for a new game...
It would have been cool if 2 got a PS2 remake as well
I'm gonna have to find my copy of Alter Code F next time I'm at my parents' house.
This game has a Golden Sun vibes going. Maybe this game is an influence in creating the Golden Sun series.
Wild arms 2 was one of the best games ever made. As a kid I wanted to be Ashley Winchester.
I completed my collection this year, got all games except for ps1 wild arms, but I’m satisfied with alter code f
I had the Luck finding Wild Arms 2 at a pawn shop long ago Loved the 3rd game😎
Wild Arms = Masterpiece!
Telnet that sounds familiar didn't they do White knight chronicles 1 and 2? speaking of what happened to them exactly I remember white knight chronicles 2 online feature scammed us all they took our money and disabled the service and went offline forever that was the last I saw of them.
I'm glad I picked up my copy Wild Arms Alter Code F when I did for 100 dollars.
It will always be my favourite RPG
