You didn't mention that there was a novel based off the game, although I don't blame you for not knowing since the book only released in Japan. Still, cool video, Valkyrie Profile is a game that flew under my radar but now I want to play it.
@@retrogamernes3121 Figures, I meant artbooks like the Anatomia one on playasia to say, guess it's a matter of time anyway, sooner or later something will come up, hope not Anatomia related though.
9:55 nice speech, except for the fact that easy and normal are actually harder than hard mode. sure you don't need to grind levels but without all the divine weapons, items, extra dungeons, odin rewards, and custom skill sets its actually harder to play on the lower difficulties while getting less story. I would just recommend everyone to play on hard mode with a guide as its the best way to play the game, you also get to finish the post game.
What I would call hard in Hard mode is that the dungeons are very annoying. And also it doesn't even have that Black Dream Tower with that cool music theme. That is why I prefer Normal mode. The only things that I hate to miss from hard mode are the battles vs Genieve and Akethamen. Aside of that, I like Normal mode more. About Lyseria, I prefer Mystina over her for completely, so for me it is not a great loss.
@@Hereticbliss322 ok you want facts then: in valkyrie profile equipment and abilities are the deciding factor on how strong your character is with items that give giant stat boosts that make up about 50 -80% of your attack power, the ability to null specific attacks, instantly heal and revive when attacked, and granting all characters their best attack patterns all of which are not available in easy mode which instead gives you slightly weaker enemies while you are at like 20% power.
windwaker0rules oh yeah I know how the game works. I guess my comment confused you. When you say something like “except for the fact” and then follow up with a subjective opinion, it gives the impression that you don’t know the difference between fact and opinion. I hope that is more clear.
My friend that's my favorite saga an the first game is my all time favorite. I have hope that after anatomia square give another chance to VP, a new game is needed. Um abraço do Brasil meu amigo dos rpgs :)
Covenant Of The Plume being before Valkyrie Profile 2 doesn't make any sense to me. If Covenant Of The Plume took place before Valkyrie Profile 2, the einherjar in Valkyrie Profile 2 would have been there, Dipan would have intervened and Artolia wouldn't be a massive nation. There is lore in Valkyrie Profile 2 that shows what happened prior to Covenant Of The Plume and it had nothing to do with the events of Covenant Of The Plume. It was all about the founding of Villnore and the war of Camille Hill, none of which had anything to do with Artolia. In fact it's because of Covenant Of The Plume that Artolia is in the state it is in during the first Valkyrie Profile. Either the writers of Covenant Of The Plume messed up or the sources messed up. Wouldn't be the first time since Anatomia did the same thing, the whole 3 valkyries being the same person was changed to Lenneth being the only Valkyrie.
My favourite psp game. Such a decent setting. Im desperate for at least a port to the psn. Seeing that the first star ocean is getting a port this year, im remaining hopeful. Interesting fact number two!
Never played the PS1 version. Got hooked on the PSP remake and also its follow-up on the PS2. Probably should give Covenant of the Plume a try these days.
There's quite a bit of censorship in the English version, like in the tutorial when the agent went to the bar to hire Badrach, she gets him a glass of beer in the Japanese version. Lezard's teleportation symbol was changed from a pentagram into a circle, obviously to avoid any satanic reference Frei and Freya's name reversal was kind of dumb, but it was even more stupid that the localization team didn't catch it and corrected it. It became obvious that they merely translated the typo without doing any research to see if the naming is correct, as if they're saying: Our job is just to translate, not to make any changes, even if it's based on incorrect information that we could have corrected Adding easy and normal actually had the opposite effect. Not only is hard mode actually easy in the long run, but it also had hard mode exclusive dungeons. Thus, most players would never get to see the easy and normal dungeons if they seek the full experience that only hard can provide
That game got a lot of hate but I really enjoyed it. Magic wasn't nearly as OP as it was in Valkyrie Profile was one of the biggest game play gripes I heard from friends.

I remember finishing this game once.... no, maybe i think i finished it two times.... Or was it three? or maybe... Yeah, I finished VP more times that i can count, it is my all time favorite RPG, second to none played silmeria a couple of times top (yeah, enough to make the initial enemy hard to kill XD), but nowhere near enough as the original VP. one interesting fact that you might have mentioned when you mentioned the dificulties is that optional end game dungeons are far harder in the easy mode, thanks to scarce resources...
"It was going to be a Strategy RPG" I frigging knew it! Where's the remake where you also get to play the war on Asgard with the Strategy RPG elements?! Where?!!
Great video. About the decision of making the easy and normal modes against the criteria of the creator, I think it wasn't like that at the end. Yoshitara did it just to please Enix, because if you played the modes, you'll began to notice that actually the game is harder in easy and normal modes. Why? Because all de good items and weapons can be found in Hard mode, so eventually the Hard Mode ironically becames the EASY mode xD

Not really a huge fan of turn based RPG's but wow I freaking love this game. The combat system is real time and really frame dependent. My favorite soundtrack is "In water, air and light".
Who will agree with me Lezard is the coolest mage in the game???
Anyone?
Nope, for me, it is Mystina.
Nah he's an edgy niceguy twat
Gandar is the coolest and Shiho is waifu. 🤣
Mysti all the way.
Angela
Time to beat this game again😁
I had no idea about the game discs being fragile driving the price up! I'm gonna check my copy right now. It should be fine, as I try to keep my gaming collection in perfect shape, but it's been a very long time since I last played it.
You didn't mention that there was a novel based off the game, although I don't blame you for not knowing since the book only released in Japan. Still, cool video, Valkyrie Profile is a game that flew under my radar but now I want to play it.
Moraknight oh I’m sure he knows, it’s just not really that relevant to a subscriber base of English speakers lol
My favorite tactics reviewer, I look for your wisdom on valkerie
bro love Valkyrie Profile great video
Oh VP, all the memories and nostalgia
I think there are some art books on eBay but they're in Japanese
Exactly. Easy is the true challenge.
Someday i will finish vp in easy so i will be able to say "i finished valkyrie profile in easy how about that".
windwaker0rules you are confusing opinion with fact.
Amazing game, love the serie
My friend that's my favorite saga an the first game is my all time favorite.
I have hope that after anatomia square give another chance to VP, a new game is needed.
Um abraço do Brasil meu amigo dos rpgs :)
The same thing with Valkyrie Profile 2 would be nice
Thanks for this game, I stated to study more about norse mythology.
this and Tales of Vesperia makes me look into archaic words
Thanks Erick, very good work (as always) around what is my RPG of choice and heart
Yeah but it takes place many years before Covenant Of The Plume.
Well no shit... I'm referring to the time period it takes place
My favourite psp game. Such a decent setting. Im desperate for at least a port to the psn. Seeing that the first star ocean is getting a port this year, im remaining hopeful.
Interesting fact number two!
Love this game!... Completed it again a couple weeks ago... ❣️
Thank you. I requested a Valkyrie Profile video a while back
It shall be engraved upon your soul. Divine Assault! Nibelung Valesti!
undoubtedly the best and most unique battle system ever. nothing has even come close to replicating it.
I liked this game so much I even picked up the psp version of the game.
Used to have the game for ps1 but one of my brothers never put it back in the case when taking it out and I found it cracked almost in half.
It will be available to on the PSN store alongside Valkyrie Elysium, September/2022. (PSP Port)
Valkyrie Profile 3: Hrist when????
2022 as a mobile game....... okay I was joking....am I ?
@@kallas9318 With SE's current streak..... no.... no you are not.
The first rpg i finished with the best (and longest) ending!
Lezard's teleportation symbol was changed from a pentagram into a circle, obviously to avoid any satanic reference
Frei and Freya's name reversal was kind of dumb, but it was even more stupid that the localization team didn't catch it and corrected it. It became obvious that they merely translated the typo without doing any research to see if the naming is correct, as if they're saying: Our job is just to translate, not to make any changes, even if it's based on incorrect information that we could have corrected
Adding easy and normal actually had the opposite effect. Not only is hard mode actually easy in the long run, but it also had hard mode exclusive dungeons. Thus, most players would never get to see the easy and normal dungeons if they seek the full experience that only hard can provide
damn someone made a video of this in 2019 surprised.. surprised
Wish they would make a remaster on ps4 so I could get trophies for this game
i had a crush on the gril from valkyrie profile in ps2... alicia i think
That game got a lot of hate but I really enjoyed it. Magic wasn't nearly as OP as it was in Valkyrie Profile was one of the biggest game play gripes I heard from friends.
@@jaymeaaron ps2 broke before I can finish wild arms 5 ff12 and Valkyrie profile 2 ps2 broke. Cause I have a bad habit of putting games on hold once I'm nearing completion or halfway there.. I especially feel hard to finish games the dread of reaching the end while I'm having fun feels like despair don't want it to end. To this day haven't finished these games. I'm gonna try with ff12 on pc.
I remember finishing this game once....
no, maybe i think i finished it two times....
Or was it three?
or maybe...
Yeah, I finished VP more times that i can count, it is my all time favorite RPG, second to none
played silmeria a couple of times top (yeah, enough to make the initial enemy hard to kill XD), but nowhere near enough as the original VP.
one interesting fact that you might have mentioned when you mentioned the dificulties is that optional end game dungeons are far harder in the easy mode, thanks to scarce resources...
A very good game, soundtrack is superb.
Please come out with more Valkyrie Profile games! I bet they would look/sound AWESOME on the new PlayStation 5 system! : D
"It was going to be a Strategy RPG" I frigging knew it!
Where's the remake where you also get to play the war on Asgard with the Strategy RPG elements?! Where?!!
thanks for the education and interesting facts about Valkyrie Profile Professor Landon! Thanks again :D
Few games that makes me fall in love with jrpg genre
yeah, have to finish the game first before seeing this video
I am glad to have the first game as part of my childhood.
Been going through this game on my channel, what are the odds XD
Great video. About the decision of making the easy and normal modes against the criteria of the creator, I think it wasn't like that at the end. Yoshitara did it just to please Enix, because if you played the modes, you'll began to notice that actually the game is harder in easy and normal modes.
Why?
Because all de good items and weapons can be found in Hard mode, so eventually the Hard Mode ironically becames the EASY mode xD
I mean, if the game is on easy, you might not need the items
@@Fermin-hw5pd Actually no. Ironically, the game is a bit harder selecting easy as the lack of items. The game gets more easier with the items
How did you find out about all this stuff? is there a valkyrie profile interviews and trivia collection on the internet?
great Series!
Still my favorite RPG of all time. Sakuraba should've blind composed the OST for VP2, though.
Valkyrie profile is perfect rpg game for me. No other games can compare
One day we will have valkirie profile Hrist.
*My top #1 game ever.*
One of ps1 game i love most aside Xenogears n Legend of Mana, they all have great story. FF7 also classic, just that i not use to their combat system.
loved this game.
Only because you did a video on my fave JRPG
This was a good game my brother had it on the psp and I never beat it.
