    People, This is the truth, this is how one is supposed to sing, watch this video, learn it and apply it to your singing. It will solve all your vocal troubles, never again will you be hoarse and you will actually start to develop as a singer once you have acquired this magnificent technique Mr. Michael is talking about. This is such a shame that this video only has 173 views...

    I've been trying to sing for 42 years!!!!!!!
    Had lessons about 20yrs ago at £50 a pop and bought two online courses for several £100's!
    No one has ever explained what MT explains.
    My voice has now popped into place and it all feels so ridiculously easy!!!
    Last week I couldn't even pronounce words in my high range because of all the tension in my throat and trying to modify vowels!!!
    Why have I only just now found this guy??????
    I feel elated and sick at the same time!

    This is so interesting. So many voice coaches on youtube, including the best ones whose info has improved my singing, have said that looking up closes the throat. I tend to believe looking up helps to open up the throat, as long as you're not keeping your head TOO far up and back. Tilting it slightly is great for opening up the throat, esp for high notes. I've VERY happy to have you confirming that looking UP is good!

    This channel has such an amazing collection of useful videos for all singers, free and taught by someone who did it at a very high level. By the way, I had to pause this video at the middle to listen once again to Michael singing the overture of Cavalleria Rusticana in German - what a beautiful and powerful voice.

    Dear Mister Trimble,
    You cannot believe how endlessly thankful I am to you! Those videos are worth gold! I am a 20 year old Greek soprano, finishing my bachelor studies on Munich. Unfortunately I fell into the hands of a very bad teacher, who habe me too difficult repertoire much too soon (Macbeth, Turandot, etc.). Fortunately, I went to the doctor and my vocal folds are thankfully healthy and well. The only problem is, that I developed a kind of faster Vibrato in my upper range (from Fa upwards) which is hard for me to get rid off. Now I am with a new teacher who is really good, but your videos are still what have given me the most information! I’m trying to improve my technique (and singing lighter roles, right now I’m doing Suzanna), and I want to buy your book as soon as possible! You’re a godsend teacher!! Thank you so much!
    Love and greetings,
    Katherine

      Michael Trimble dear Mr. Trimble ! I shrieked out of excitement when I saw that you had answered my question! Thank you so very mich for taking the time!
      You are absolutely right, letting me sing that Repertoire was a crime that my old tutor committed. I am unbelievably thankful that my vocal folds survived that maltreatment. I will immediately start using and practicing with those exercises and I will of course inform you about my progress! I wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart! Thank you so so mich!
      Greetings, Katherina

      People, could someone explain me what should I do if I want to sing POP songs? What should be my posture and inhalation process for POP singing? Is this a universal one that works effectively and healthily for all types of singing or POP singers use different ways? (I'm not talking about how do other artists do (since even Adele got vocal nodules) but how they SHOULD be doing to maintain their vocal health until they die and sing any way they want in the most effective way)
      Should my posture also be like that in the video? Should I breathe in just like Michael says?
      I really want to learn various ways of expressing myself in the best way. I want to have strength when needed, agility when needed, different emotions when needed, amazing control when needed, never hoarse voice when needed, stamina, free of tension throat and so on. Basically everything that best artists have (lets put it for the end goal in terms of technique). But I don't understand if there's some sort of universal techniques of posture and breathing for singing so that it makes thing work in the best way possible? Or it varies regarding the styles people sing?

    Don't let your sternum from collapsing, to keep in a state of inspiration. This helps with sustaining one's voice in volume and tonality. Take another breath without making any sound, which would introduce throat tension, as soon you feel the sternum starting to collapse (indicating when you need to take another breath). Thank you for reminding me!

    Thanks so much for the responses. I loved your discussion on the "sternal arch". When I tried this, the side and back ribs initially wanted to come closer together. Is this okay or do you still try to keep them as open as possible before inhalation? Thank you.

    Hi Michael, I hope you’re well. I have a question..
    I do the Caruso 10 second interval breathing exercises every day standing tall like a soldier guarding the internal sternal arch and breathing down into the hips and flanks with soft abdomen going in and then I exhale and let the abdomen fall out soft and relaxed while still
    Leaning against the chest (hope I got it right so far) and I notice my low back is squeezing even when I’m not exercising anymore. So my question is: Is this a good thing and do I want to train that squeeze into my body like I’m on auto Pilot or is it a bad sign that my muscles back there are spasming and getting locked up? Finally if you can add any pointers as to how I should proceed and improve. Thanks so much Michael.
    Matt from Pa.

    love it! but michael I see many great tenors (pavarotti, bonisolli, bergonzi, Del monaco etc) doing the rounded embouchure mouth shape for the passaggio area and some semi high notes. and to me they all sound great? They are not following your mouth position suggestion

    Im well, maestro. How are you doing these days? I am teaching myself Italian at the moment and I seem to learning very quickly. It really does come very easy to me. Perhaps there is something to the bloodline theory. As for learning, Im just listening to everything I can and hope to buy some scores in the near future.
    I too will not forget you or your beautiful voice. If you were singing today, we wouldnt even consider 70% of the "tenors" that preform theses days. I hope to be as excellent.

      Hi. I belive that breath support (or leaning, as Michael puts it) is universal for any kind of singing. Whatever you do with your voice, as long as it comes from the proper use of the air, should be much beneficial and healthy for you.
      Now, in regards of pop singers, i belive most of them ending up with nodules is because they dont have a proper technique. They just have the voice and use it. And over use it, getting milked for money.
      But this may be just me beign biased against Pop music, ja!

    • @chris-zu6sf
      @chris-zu6sf 5 лет назад

      I agree with you. 'Chicago' used operatic breath support and singing when singing pop music. They just modified the phonation potentially extending their vocal longevity. It's a good study to listen too.

    • @raddist7012
      @raddist7012 2 года назад

      Well with pop voice you can get away with a lot of things that you shouldn't do in opera. However, everything in terms of breathing must be the same as everything else in any genre if singing. You don't need the strength in your voice to sing pop as opera because you have a microphone. Microphones pick up any sound you make, even the funny sounds. Learn to cut back the volume, learn to balance your chest and falsetto, and make sure that you are always consciously focused on your breathing. Phrase like you would phrase normal speech. Play with all the funny sounds you have until you feel you're making a good sound. And that's the key to pop singing; making it sound GOOD. But these sounds should feel fun and never hurt. I found that many opera singers who can successfully sing pop music have the same voice but it's tinier and has a lot more "nose" into it (if you know what I mean). Remember to learn the proper technique first (opera) before you play around the playground. Look at Picasso, he's an amazing artist who created unique pieces of art but he only managed to do that once he got the fundamentals taken care of first. That's what you must do. Get a good vocal coach and keep experimenting with the voice you have.
