    4100, she is still around to this day. I have seen her many times and i find it cool to see her back when she wasnt super old (she still runs well).

    Thank you for uploading this. It great to see more videos of the Arrow IIs, Comet Is (A-B as well), and U34CHs all still in service. A friend of mine is modeling the Comet I-A while I'm modeling a U boat myself. I have the NJT Stripe shell just need a chassis to put it on.

      Walter's did make HO scale coaches with NJ DOT logos. Those engines were on their way out at that time...thanks for this!!!

    Another fabulous video, great having these U34CH locomotives filmed.

      Thanks, I grew up with those engines. You could hear them barking blocks away. I clearly remember the EL diamond on the nose, as a child, during the 70's.

    At 5 mins in you have 4180. At 20.5 mins in you have 4167. In July of 2007 as I was leaving our ocean terminal in Houston, I spotted both these locos that were in a group of 5 with NREX reporting marks. They would eventually go to Brazil on one of our ships.

    What a great film. Not only did you catch many U34CHs (including 4183), you also caught the Ex-CNJ GP40Ps, the Arrow IIs (which retired a few years after the U34CHs were last on NJT's property), Arrow IIIs before they were rebuilt with AC traction motors and equipment, and many Comet I and II coaches. Incredible stuff back then.

      Thank you. At the time, I was wishing all this equipment could be Erie Lackawanna E-8s ,Stillwells, and the old MUs.

      Funny you mention that, I have an audio CD called "Erie Lackawanna Commuter Operations" that I recently got a week ago. Has sounds of old MUs, RS3s, E8s, one recording of a GP7, a single recording of an ALCO PA, and several clips of the U34CHs. Incredible stuff.

      Ha! Do you know if they are still making that tape? or was that vintage stock? Sounds like something they would have put out years ago.

      Very much still being made. The sounds are actual sounds from the real deal. Its product number PR-275 on this site.

    Why do many of the sets leave the doors open on the card when departing

    • @1990sRailfan
      @1990sRailfan  4 года назад

      My guess is, the sets are empty headed out for their daily layover (storage).

    • @jvohanian
      @jvohanian 3 года назад

      It was standard operating procedure to run with the doors open back in the day, since most (if not all, at the time) of the HOB division was low-level, and you couldn't trainline at low-level platforms with these cars (except for the sliders, which didn't have traps, but they ran open door anyway).
