- A short public service documentary about the history of Hoboken prepared by PSE&G in the early to mid-70's to celebrate the conversion of the Keuffel & Esser Building (The Clock Tower Building) into family housing.
I was born in Hoboken back in 1967. I went to school there and live in the projects. I had so much fun. My grandfather lived in clock towers. I live down the street from where Frank Sinatra was born. Much diversity of culture. 15 minutes from Manhattan. As a child I watched him build the twin towers from my living room window on the ninth floor. I am 54 and I live in North Carolina. But in my dreams I am still in Hoboken.
Ended up seeing my father from over 40 years ago working on Clock Towers. The handsome guy with the wild beard. Oak Construction!
So handsome
I was born here and cannot afford to live here now.
I recently moved from Hoboken to Ridgewood nj to go to high school. I had lived in Hoboken for 15 years of my 16 years of my life. I still visit pretty much weekly but I really wish I could walk around Hoboken when it was just being built because I find this history so fascinating
I did the reverse - from Ridgewood High School '68 to Stevens Tech '72.
This made my day! Thank you for sharing and to Chewy and the other dancer for a wonderful dance off!!
Loved this! I lived in clock towers as a little kid. My aunt and uncle still live there. Awesome memories
Love the slide show of Hoboken's history. Very informative.
I loved the smell of coffee when Maxwell House was on the waterfront. It wasn't built up back in 88 like now. It was better then
My aunt, uncle and grandma lived on Bloomfield. Always loved Hoboken back from when I was a little kid
The best town in the World....Grew up in Hoboken...
My grandmother Anna Andreula went to school while Sinatra was a few grades above here. All of the Andreulas settled here from Molfetta, Italy.

When I was a kid in the late 1970's that's where I lived with my parents and played by the smoke stack which had sand round it!

I love Hoboken.
My great grandparents, August Bremer and Bertha Erxmeyer, received their Confirmation in the German Evangelical Church (6th St.) in 1874, conferred by Pastor Leopold Mohn. August Bremer had a paint store in Hoboken in the 1880’s. I have a picture of it.
Would love to see that picture, Brian!
click on the following site, a few scrolls down and you will see the store .. my great-grandmother standing. August Bremer's store, my great-grandfather.
