I’ve had this lens since launch on my R5. After going from a 450D and kitlens (a combo which I loved!!), a 70D and EFS 17-55 (another winning team!) and a 6D mark 2 with 24-70 f4 (this is still my back up combo) - I went totally nuts and got the 28-70 f2 and Canon R originally. The R5 completely unlocked the F2, with its IBIS and 8k video (4k usable). I’ve completely stopped watching camera tech videos and have been traveling and shooting for years. Wonderful unique look, amazing sharpness on the R5. Love love love this lens. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
what you totally understate about this unicorn of a lens is that it's f2.0. That's twice the light of an f2.8 lens. Now, I don't use this lens to replace my primes when I'm shooting locally (my 85 1.2 is my fav lens). But on travel trips, I leave all my lenses at home and take just the 28-70 and the 35. As for IS, it doesn't really help with photos because people move. And the lens is so heavy it kind of stabilizes the camera. I notice this when I take videos with the 28-70. It's so buttery smooth which I assume is because of how heavy the lens is.
Thank you very much for watching as well as for sharing your story and feedback. Really appreciated it. Regarding about stating the f/2.0 part, I am sorry that I understated that fact..(?) I was only sharing my opinion on the lens based on how I use, I wasn’t reviewing it. Also, many of the reasons does circle around the f/2.0 part, such as using it at times instead of my 50mm 1.2, then I also mentioned how having f/2.0 is very versatile since it does allow a lot of light into the lens compare to the 2.8 and many other benefits of having the f/2.0 on of this lens. Furthermore, having f/2.0 is also already self explanatory within the name why it is a benefit I think… 😅 But I am deeply sorry that you find that I didn’t state the benefit enough… that said, I think different users will use the lens differently, therefore different opinions and priorities applies… I was only stating my opinion, I am sorry if I didn’t mention something enough… I thank you very much again for watching as well as sharing your experience/story and feedback. Really appreciated it. I will do my best to improve my future contents… I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting
@@DavidCuhls I didn't mean to imply that you did anything wrong so I apologize if that's what was felt. I read comments of so many people comparing the 28-70 and the 24-70 and thinking the main differences are the weight and cost. And that somehow in their minds, the difference between f2 and f2.8 isn't significant. I also saw comments about how the bokeh isn't significantly different between f2 and f2.8 which shows that they entirely miss the point of having twice the available light. It would be wonderful if other companies came out with a 24-70 with f1.8 but none of them have ever done so, showing how special what Canon was able to achieve with this lens. We're always asking companies to come out with lenses that make our experience better. that make our photos unique.
These are the best photos I've seen on any 28-70 review, which adds authority to your opinion. Pairing the 35L II with the 85 ƒ1.2 often at weddings I never noticed a CA issue with the 35 - in fact, Canon went to great lengths to eliminate purple fringe. Are you shooting with the Mark II? The 35L II is my favorite world-travel/personal-journal lens and I've seen in all sorts of scenerios and I never pick up on purple fringe. Anyway - great photos - you're a real talent.
Really nice review. Thank you so much for it. I was thinkg about selling my RF 24-104mm f4 IS, RF 50mm f/1.8 and RF 85mm f2. What is that cool vinyl skin on your camera body and the on the lens?
Thank you very much for watching and for the kind words, really appreciated it! ☺️ You actually have quite a solid setup that produces great results. ☺️ It’s just camera and lens skin I got from my local camera store but I bought similar ones on AliExpress since you can find more designs on there and they are quite durable as well. Furthermore, these skins are customisable and are available for so many lenses and cameras from many brands. ☺️ Hope that helps, I thank you very much again for watching and for the kind words. I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting ☺️📸✌🏻
The one on the camera I got it at my local camera store but the ones on my lenses I got them from Aliexpress. There are many shops selling these protective skins with so many patterns as well. I highly recommend it since it does help to reduce scratches on the body of the lens and the camera body. I hope that helps. I thank you so much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting :-)
Thanks for this great video, im still deciding if i should get this lens, like you mentioned at the end, its a very nornal range where as anything taken with my 85 1.2 stands out. But im going to probably pull the trigger in a few months as a bday present to myself. Great sample photos, helps put things in perspective
I don't really think it matters that much if the camera does not have an IBIS system since I do find the weight of the lens (plus the camera) heavy enough to make the setup stable to hold. Furthermore, the F/2.0 is great when shooting in lowlight any way. :-) Hope that helps. I thank you very much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
WOW you visited Thailand, didn't you? What Sony lens did you use to see the ugly flare? Have you tried 50 1.2 GM ? You might have a hard to to find the flare from it hahaha
Haha yeah, I was in Thailand 🇹🇭☺️☺️. I don’t think that it’s the presence of a lens flare that bothers me so much but rather how the flare looks on Sony lenses. I know it’s subjective but Nikon and Canon lenses seems to have a more “natural” and “elegant” lens flares when the lens flare do appear in the images. However, on the Sony side, the lens flares when they do appear, they look more distracting. Of course not as bad as Panasonic lenses but it still looks more annoying than good. There is also too much blue and purple tones in the lens flare of Sony lenses in my liking. The 50mm 1.2 from Sony is a great lens. I love it. But since I mainly use my Sony gear for just RUclips and maybe sometimes street, there is nothing my Sony 50mm 1.4 can’t do that the 1.2 version can. Of course the 1.2 is sharper but then again, I’m only using my Sony gear mainly for my RUclips. For personal and professional, I have my canon rf 50mm 1.2 to cover that bit. So yeah… I thank you very much for watching and for sharing as well! I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! ☺️☺️📸
Weight is the only deciding factor to me, not the money or the end results. I solely rely on modern mirrorless processor chips. Lens are pure ‘optic illusion’ to me.

Nice video 👍🏼 where did you get the camouflage pattern? Looks really nice

Most thorough review I've seen on this lens, thank you! Cool skins on your lenses and cameras!

Hai...
How do you use your lens.. with or without a clear filter..??
What do you recommend and why..😁
Love the dark camo skins, where did you get them?

I wanted to like this video at least three or four times! Thank you

What skin do you use for the lens?
A bit heavy for being an all-round lens. No doubt a pinnacle lens.
Doubles as a weapon.
i have R8 and this is next lens to buy 😍😍😍😄
I’ve an R8 which doesn’t come with IBIS. What do you think?

is it a good travel lens - if i can only bring one?
Can I please get the link to the lens?
Would this lens be wasted on an RP?

yeah, yeah - skins, what are those SKINS?
