Amazing comparaison. Both of these lenses are fantastic however, as a portrait photographer, I had to got with both the RF 85mm 1.2 and the RF 135mm 1.8. I also have the RF 24-70mm 2.8 for my wider shots. That said, you can’t go wrong with the 28-70 f2. It’s magical.
Just got the rf 85 DS version (already own the 28-70) so excited! I got my 28-70 during the Covid years and canon Canada had some insane promo with cpl and UV filter for free.
I still prefer f1.4 or f1.8 primes Especially EF mount glasses, so that i can use drop-in-filter adapters Single adapter with different drop-in-filters is way more cost-effective than my fear of using adapters😅
Thank you for the video enjoying it but just a couple corrections that I’ve seen so far. It looks at six minutes and 30 seconds approximately. You have the 85 mm information up when you’re talking about the 28 - 70 and also it doesn’t protrude when it focuses it protrudes when you zoom. 😮
i would like to know what was up with Canon makin the new version of the 85 so much bigger over the older version style. Thing is huge. I always rock the battery grip with it because of that reason.
This really comes down to your shooting style. If you’re a fiend for bokeh and want compression get the 85. But if you want to tell an entire story get the 28-70.
I don’t really get the comparison. The lenses stand apart. Quite simply the coverage is 28-70 there is simply no 85 in the range. If you want the compression of the 85 you need the 85 or the 70-200. And then 85 does more in regard to depth of field, so again can’t really be compared.
I have the canon 28-70 f2. It’s never leaving, and I also shoot Nikon and there new 85 1.2 is finally matching the amazing canon 1.2 now come on Sony what’s up with the new 85 1.4? I am so addicted to good glass. Thanks for the candy
If 15-35mm and 28-70 are internal zoom, I'd buy them when they are on sale rightvaway, but I feel bad when I spend that much to the things are not perfect.
Ya great lens. With the lens IS is a great choice for video work as well as photography work. I almost bought it but I decided to go with the 28-70 because that f2 max aperture. I shot with the EF 24-70 2.8 for years so I was excited to try something new.
These are both awesome lenses you won't have any issues with image quality from either. If you have any questions about them let me know in the comments. Yes, I own both lenses and frankly, if I knew I were going to a questionable place, I’d probably just go rent em. Probably cheaper to rent than get stuff repaired later. 😂
I still prefer f1.4 or f1.8 primes Especially EF mount glasses, so that i can use drop-in-filter adapters Single adapter with different drop-in-filters is way more cost-effective than my fear of using adapters😅
I have the 85 f1.2, 28-70 f2 and the 135 f1.8. They all have their own distinct uses. For portraits the 85mm is still king!
Thanks for the comment. It's hard to beat that 85mm.
I have all 3 and the 85 is my favorite

I didn't notice that I'll have to go check it out. Thanks for the feedback I really appreciate it. I must have missed that info.
I have both. So i don't need to choose. The 15-35 and 70 - 200 2.8 haven't left my dry cabinet in 3 months. Lol.😂
If you can, buy both. If you can't, start with 28-70.

Awesome competition there
Thanks glad you enjoyed the video.
Definitely no no to those UV filters
I have a set of freewell K2, but as I understand it, they are not suitable for 28-70(
The 28-70 has a 95mm front filter which is crazy. Most people will have to buy new filters to go with that lens.

Thanks for the comment. They only overlap in price. I wanted to share my experience with deciding which lens to buy first.

Glad you enjoyed the video. Did you hear the news. Sony is now making a 28-70nn f2.

I agree with you. They should be internally zooming.
$200-300 for a UV filter is crazy!! Mine was like $75
I know right. Brand and filter size has a huge impact on size.
Have you ever shot with the RF 24-70mm 2,8?

@@vaskoobscura_ well the RF is better than the EF, I have the RF 24-70mm 2.8 just wondering if the RF 28-70 f/2 would be worth upgrading
1.2 for photography and f2 for videography…
The 28-70mm is great for video. I totally agree.

That's a really goo point.
Keep the 85mmm EF ^^
That EF 85mm is going to be a classic one day. It produces a really cool looking image that's different from the RF. Thanks for the comment.
