Hope this video doesn't "get blocked by BS". Love the driving part and commentary; agree on your views on BSD (Blind Spot Detect, but only on top spec in UK), heated steering wheel (only on top spec in UK), touch-screens; oh, and this car's firm ride. Thanks for showing us the car, Thomas.

Thomas is by far the best and most interesting reviewer out there. I really enjoy his commentaries. One thing I would like to see is that the real live fuel consumption be spoken in terms of miles per gallon rather than or as well as the term currently used. Other than that "Ace"

I think many brands are now making cars that are very similar to each other and often hard to distinguish in terms of which segment they can be bracketed in. The reason Kia makes very similar cars like the Niro, Stonic and Soul is the same reason BMW makes cars like the X3 & X4 and the X5 & X6; to fill every niche in the market and more sales. Audi, Merc and a whole lot of other brands do the same

Great review as always, you are really number #1.
In general I like this car, especially the color , because it is my favourite. I think the problem is me, because I could not manage unlike a car, I like all the cars.
When I first heard the Stonic name I thought it was Stone+Sonic= Stonic. Thanks for teaching the truth and I thought totally same way of you, it is a marketing bs.
I watched your all the Niro, Soul and Stonic videos and I like the outside of Stonic, inside of the Niro and EV technology of Soul.
And the last, at 14.04 thank you part is the cooler than all the drift or rubber burn videos.

Excellent balanced review Thomas. I like the look of this car and its simplicity. If Kia improved the ride and refinement they would have a winner I think.
Interesting Thomas, in Finland you always have to stay on the right lane, except when overtaking. Good work again Meister! :)
A comparison test would be very nice to decide the best winner between : Kia Stonic - Volkswagen T-Cross - Dacia Duster..

From the moment you opened the hood, my mind said, Are we going back in time"? The 1960's this little car would have been a hit. Nowadays? Not so sure? I like Kia cars but this one need a larger engine. Otherwise, styling is good and reminiscent of Kia Forte model.

I think the Niro is the Winner maybe mouch less looks. But more refined.. the cabin is mouch more xclusiv than that in the STONIC...
Niro is also much more expensive, it starts where Stonic ends.

About the "Kona" in portuguese part. In Quebec, Canada, where I live, "etron" is a slang for "turd". I let you guess what happens when we see an E-Tron version of an Audi.

so Seat Arona is better in every aspect, except for Kia's 7 year warranty?
So i drive 1.4 130hp petrol engine and my lowest consumption is around 9.5L, that is only city. When i hear people complaining about 8 litres or less i am like f*** me!

I would not compare Niro, Stonic and Soul. They are different cars addressed to different customers. I can imagine the target of each of them and (they of course have some part of the common), but the final customers seem to me to be different people. I think those three mentioned models are filling three seperate niches. That's my point of view.

In my opinion those three cars shouldn't be compared. Stonic is a small "b-class SUV", so it's a crossover. Comparing to other brands - it's something like Mokka X by Opel, T-Roc by VW, C3 Aircross by VW or Arona by Seat. Niro in my opinion is not a crossover at all. It's kind of a car addressed to older people, it's not so "fun-causing" vehicle. It's much more conservatively designed. Kia Soul is something between both of them. It's not a crossover, but it's designed to be a "lifestyle" car (mini countryman like?). This is how I get it.

The Kona offers a 1.6 turbo petrol, that's the big difference. I wish powerful engines were not limited to more expensive cars.
But that's the point - you get what you pay for. You have to pay for more power.
PS. Kona is a completely different car, it's bigger, it's based on a different platform etc.
Power is just one of the things that make cars more expensive. What I mean is that I don't want to deal with leather and 5 million extra features I don't need in order to get 250 hp.
You could say that hot hatches are the solution, but I want those with a normal suspension. I want acceleration, not handling.
And there is no car under 30k that can give you that.
With power comes the reponsibility. Not only for you but for the manufacturer as well who needs to make sure that the car can safely transfer those 250hp to the road while using all of those ponies. There are also other factors like fuel consumption, tax and insurance rates etc. There's not much market for small and powerful car that's not sporty.
It doesn't cost much more to make the car put down the power. You don't even need a limited slip diff for 250 hp.
Fuel economy isn't a problem if it's a small car and with a turbo, because that means you are not using the turbo in every day driving. That's a bit like the NEDC cycle. They achieve those results because the engine acts as a small NA engine, but you cannot replicate that in real world.
Insurance is a problem, but it's not that much more expensive. If you are worried about money, just buy used in my opinion. But I like having some power even if I don't use it all that frequently.
What a shame there won’t be a fast GT version of this car...
