I’ve had the same model GT Line S for a bit over a year, so 22 year, and have found it a decent car, fully living up to my expectations for a car in this category. I tend to use the Eco mode most of the time and that mostly suits me fine. Fuel consumption seems to be at least partly related to ambient temperature, but on longer journey, which I do once/twice a month I usually achieve 53-54 mpg without much difficulty, shorter journeys on main 60 mph roads usually 48-49 mpg also without much difficulty. A fair review I think.
Picked up mine today, went for a 60 mile drive mixture of urban traffic jams, B Roads and 35 miles of motorway 57mpg achieved in the 1.0 turbo mhev spec. Nice and comfy, lots of gadgets and gizmos, decent sounding stereo. Whats not to like.

Thank you for excellent review of the Kia Stonic. I bought this car after watching your review. I love it! Its such a lovely car. I love a look of Kia stonic GT line S, mine one is in red.
My 23-year-old has just bought the MHEV Connect on a 71 plate (with almost 4 years warranty left ,bonus) as his first car, following a test drive. (To my surprise). Seems a lot of car and features for the money. Thanks for the review.
Ordered my gt line s 7 speed auto today, 4 month lead time so I'm watching review videos in anticipation, this is by far my favourite video and has me absolutely pumped to get driving mine! I'm a similar size to you and alos noticed how roomy it is inside, I had the the quashqui previously and felt trapped and constantly banged my arm on the centre console, not a problem with this bad boy.
Bought a 2 Yr old one about 2 months ago, already done 4kmiles in it with just one gripe, the speedo. Shows approx 4/5 mph fast, which I find very wrong.KIA 20:16 there, speedo is very accurate . In short, when I die, my connect will be buried with me as I love her that much.
Thanks for this review! 4 weeks and counting until I get my 73 plate Stonic 3 and now super excited.. can’t wait! Looking through YT reviews there have been so many petty, wingy reviews so it was good to see a great honest review… all the things I thought of when I did the test drive before ordering. #thankyou.
I have to assume Kia did some big under the skin updates between when this car launched and the current model year because I agree, I can't fathom what the other reviews say if we drove the same car
I currently have this car on test from Kia and I agree on the handling, its a hoot on a back road! I did have to check the driveway to make sure it was still there when I saw the plate 😂
I got this car in storm grey and love it. Very enjoyable to drive and has lots of top spec things like lane assist, cruise control plus a lot more, and a nice sound from the radio. Does handle well like he says. If you are thinking about getting one the do it you get a lot for the money.
Fab review from an excellent 'reviewer'. So glad I found this because I'm just about to buy what may likely be my very last car, so I must get it right. Never heard of this before today (07/04/24) and it's now at the top of my list, so off to view later and thank you very much for such a thorough, up-beat review. JH
Great little car and video. I guess that 120PS might be a bit flat when the car is fully laden, for a car with some sporting pretensions. An attractive package all round, though.
I planning to buy a new car and I am wondering which one to choose - Kia Stonic (manual) or Toyota Yaris Cross (eCVT hybrid). Which one will be better for countryside with better fuel economy?
Great roadtest!! I am now in a major dilemma. Im retired and own a 2014 Freelander 2 Metropolis which has all the bells and whitles. My wife has a 3 yr old Stonic with only 16000 miles and fsh and i absolutely love driving it. She cant get on with it as shes only 4'10'' tall and sits too low in it so she is now getting rid of it for a suzuki. My dilemma is - should i take her bundle of fun on and enjoy an almost new car with bags of fun and let go of my 10yr old FL2 with 86,000 miles on clock.... has to be the toughest decision as i also love the FL2... Mmmnnnnn indecisive 😒 😫
@@BuckleUpShow well, the dilemma is mine not hers as she is smitten with the little Ignis and has ordered it. The point of my thead is whether to have her Stonic which i absolutely love (White with red roof). Its barely even run in with 16000 mils on the clock whereas by FL2 is fast approaching 90,000 miles
If you don't need the off-road utility offered by the Freelander, we'd probably recommend you keep the Stonic, especially if you enjoy driving it so much! (How much for the landy?)

The Stonic is a lot more fun to drive. T-Roc is the next size up, so a more direct comparison would be the T-Cross. Overall the Stonic offers better value for money than the VW T-Cross.
@@BuckleUpShow oh, thank you. I drive a Hyundai Bayon with the same engine. I would trade it for a Stonic if the seating position were higher.....I'll just wait for the Bayon facelift, with an automatic transmission😁😁
Having driven a Citroen C1, Aygo and 107 for the last 14 years this car is a delight. Only downside I think is the IMHO lack of feedback in the clutch pedal escpecially when starting from a standstill and from 1st to 2nd gear. For the rest no complaints.
I drive a VW id3 77 Kwh electric car and to make a long story short I hate it, crap interior for a 41,000 Euro car, Ireland prices, 30-50 min charge time - 1.5 - 2.5 hr if you arrive and there's a queue at a charger, Software is rubbish this everything in the touch screen nonsense is infuriating, no buttons or knobs for the radio or climate, most of the VW range of cars is like this now not just the electric + over 77,000 Kms it's lost half it's value, this is my 3rd ev since 2015 and my last. You don't save anything and no one wants to trade the EV especially if you don't go back to the same dealer. I was even considering one of the LPG Dacias because there's an LPG garage a few miles from me that's sold LPG for years and LPG is a lot cheaper. I love the Stonic interior and the analogue clocks and real climate control, it looks so much nicer than just having screens !

Only the driver's side is one touch electric window. Stop Start is a complete joke , hardly ever works. Front parking sensors go off for no reason when stopped behind another vehicle. The worst car I have ever bought, I do 30 000 miles a year. Can't wait to get rid of it
You didn't used to get 50-59 in a petrol astra SRI, the display may have said that but that's just not realistic in anything but hyper-mileing conditions. I'm not sure what you mean by the side windows wiping? Do you mean cleaning the glass by opening and closing the window? The stop start will only work when conditions permit. So once the engine is warm, battery is charged and it's not needed to run climate functions. One of those factors will likely explain why yours isn't engaging. If your front parking sensors are going off when stopped behind another vehicle then you've stopped to close, you should always leave yourself enough space to pull round a vehicle should it encounter an issue while stopped. If you do 30,000 miles a year in your personal vehicle why did you opt for a small petrol crossover rather than a diesel hatchback or saloon that would be more economical and comfortable for long distance?
