Currently on my 5th month of owning and driving a 120ps/200Nm MHEV 7-DCT Kia Stonic and loving every second behind the steering wheel. Such a little bundle of joy it is.
I looked at the Stonic GT-Line S but heard bad reports regarding the electric engine element so opted for a special edition Picanto GT-Line S instead. Is there any truth about the electric engine issues?
I have purchased the VW after test driving a number of similar vehicles and I have no regrets . All the tech I need. A very quiet smooth drive and with 150 bhp is nippy enough. It's also a quality German car with the right badge
My wife’s son picks up his XT turbo Stonic next week. It looks a fun stylish vehicle. Thanks for the fun action packed video. Have you guys got any whispers when the new generation RAV4 hybrid is arriving. Cheers NZ.
The most important thing to consider is that Kias don't go wrong and have a SEVEN year warranty. T-Roc only 3 year warranty and that is presumably because VAG don't have any faith in their cars being reliable. Over the last few years the reliability of the once unassailable reliability has gone down the pan on ALL group cars, but especially VW and Skoda. CAVEAT EMPTOR!!
Diesel gate cost cutting can take some of the blame, and thankfully VW seem to have now recognised that they can't cost cut their way to higher profit to pay the fine off, they need to keep making sensible, solid cars that are nice to own. Only time will tell with reliability of course
VW interior looks way better, same for quality perception. Unfortunately the back of the car is horrendous! Otherwise I would consider to buy it😢 However the Kia looks better at the back, but I don’t really get the front 😅, and interior makes me sad. Good vid guys
What about Euro Ncap ratings? These car’s tests are old but T-Cross has 5 stars with +80 points for every category, but Kia stonic has only 3 stars. So I choose safer T-Cross.
That rating is from 2017 and is based on a car "without the safety pack" which comes fitted standard now. Also the occupancy rating is 93% for the safety pack car. Seems like a safe car to us
I’m after a new car. Ihave had a Fiesta Style for the last 14yrs but now want passenger doors and a bit more boot space with a higher driving position, AC and parking sensors would be preferable to, without going to much bigger. It’s mainly just me and the dog. Can you suggest anything that would suit. I’m a 60yr old woman and although I’ve had bigger cars in the past, trying to get in and out of my drive at the end of a backroad is a nightmare now with inconsiderate neighbours parking. I like how nippy the fiesta is. I don’t want electric though. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thank you. I also don’t drive far anymore, just taking the dog out and shopping mainly. Also what you say is the most reliable make now. Cheap to maintain and availability as well price on car parts.
The car like that that would feel closest to your fiesta would be a Ford Puma. The Toyota Yaris Cross (we have a review on the channel of one) would probably be the most reliable and cheapest to maintain, plus as long as you service it with your dealer your warranty will cover you up to 10 years
Quirky and fun but cross-overs at ~ £25K are style over substance. They are quite dinky but a Fiesta ST or a Hyundai i20N ticks all the meaningful boxes so much better.
The Fiesta no longer exists, and while we would take an i20n over these cars not everyone wants the extra insurance and fuel costs of a performance vehicle
Nice one! So, what would you have chosen between Sandero stepway TCe110 full loaded, at 14800 euro, Puma 15900 euro base line 125HP, Taigo 15800 base line, 95HP. Kia is far more expensive, starting at 17500 euro. For equivalent, if I want a climate control and heated seats, all of the others cost around 20000 euro. Sandero have them in 14800.; Tough choice.
2 minor dislikes from me for the stonic (which i would take over the Troc) The window switches on the drivers door are too far back and no ambient lighting at all at night.
@@BuckleUpShow You will when your 57 👴 and can't see chuff all inside a dark car I don't like " Blackpool illuminations " that merc go for, but a subtle glow of orange from the interior light over the gear stick area is always nice.
That makes a lot of sense, and I probably will change my mind, would be nice if it had an easy on off or dimmer like you used to get for the instrument cluster
Hi guys the T-roc is called Taigun in India and has been a very India specific model from VW under their SUVW 2.0 approach for us. India specific cars have two engines a 1.0 lit 3 cylinder turbo that produces 115 bhp and a 1.5 evo 4 cylinder that produces 150bhp. Both have manual and Auto gear boxes and the manual 1.5 gt + version is a hoot to drive, it's a cheap Audi gearbox in a relatively low price.

Sounds like a good choice for you
Until the ECM light comes on and you have to spend a fortune locating an intermittent fault; a common issue across V.A.G.
'The right badge'😂 What's that? Have a look at a Kia Ceed GT, or the unbelievable Kia Stinger GTS.
Great review guys,i ordered the stonic for the very reasons you stated.Arrives this week
You're gonna love it
In South Africa the VW T - Cross was the best selling small cross over!!!!!!
The amount a car sells is no reflection of its merits. The Toyota Corolla springs to mind.
My Stonic will arrive on Friday.
Seven years' experience with Sportage made the decision for me. Tires and a battery, that's all.
You'll enjoy it!

We haven't heard anything about a new rav 4 but we are due one in 2024 based on how often they've refreshed the model previously

You’re welcome from the UK
T-cross is solid and the Best ❤
Stonic is better 😘
@@BuckleUpShow ☹ stonic is plastic

Well that's probably worked out for the best then 😅
Yes, it looks better, has got more safety features, you enjoy more overview and it is more useful and comfy for long travel and transport.

@@BuckleUpShow Granted…. But isn’t it a bit regrettable that marketing channels us into very narrow margins of choice?
How's the quality tho ?

Wouldn't the VW win on the fuel economy since it achieves the same figure without hybridization?

I would choose the Stonic still, but I'd say you should go with the Dacia
Kia Stonic is a very beautiful car.
We like the way it looks
The Kia Stonic is my favourite "normal" car currently on sale
We know, you won't shut up about it
I'd choose the T Cross any day of the week.
Cool
Re sale values and WARRANTY need discussed. Still Kia for the win though😂
And it did in fact win this test
I think you guys made a big mistake the T - Cross is much better in everything than the Kia Stonic
Well we just showed you in the video why it isn’t much better at everything

Not really a fan of ambient lighting personally

VW blindfolded
We wouldn't recommend driving with a blindfold
@BuckleUpShow rather that then risking most competitors.
