- The Kia Stonic was Kia’s first attempt at a small compact SUV to rival the likes of the Nissan Juke, amongst others. Released in the UK back in 2018, it’s since received a facelift in 2021 aimed at bringing it more in line with its compact SUV rivals.
Every Stonic comes with a good level of standard kit meaning that even the entry level car doesn’t feel too Spartan in terms of equipment. Inside controls are located logically, clearly labelled and easy to operate, making the Stonic feel much easier to use than the touchscreen-led interiors you’ll find in other similar cars. Every Kia Stonic comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with DAB radio, Apple Car play and Android Auto smartphone connectivity as well as Bluetooth. The Stonic isn’t a big car and doesen't have a big engine, so it won’t cost a fortune to run. There are two engine options, a 1.0-litre turbocharged engine with 98bhp and the same engine with 118bhp that gets mild hybrid assistance to improve performance without sacrificing too much economy. The official fuel economy is 51.4mpg - whether you have a manual or an automatic gearbox.
The Stonic comes with the same 7-year, 100,000 mile warranty cover as all the rest of Kia's cars. The car hasn’t had any recalls and Kia as a manufacturer is a pretty safe bet in terms of reliability.
So, the Kia Stonic gets a decent warranty, has a good hardwearing interior and a sturdy construction and theres no doubt about the kerb appeal looks - especially in sporty GT-Line trims with its two-tone roof. Definitely worth a test drive!

I took delivery of a new Stonic towards the end of June, the top-of-range GT Line S, ordered some months ago with a 16 week delivery estimate, more or less adhered to (17 weeks in reality). The test-drive car was a Connect, and it was very good of course, although from my earlier research I had already decided to go for the GT Line S. I’m happy with it so far and will be undertaking my first longish journey with it over the next few days. It’s my 2nd Kia, I sold the first after about 30 months, mainly because my previous vehicle, a Picanto, was just a downsize too far, having been the culmination of two/three downsizes from previous vehicles (Honda for several years and 4 cars, before that a few Peugeots). But the Picanto was a great little car. The brand now has a reputation for modest cost coupled, good specifications and with very good reliability, as I certainly would not have considered Kia 10/12 years ago. The 7-year warranty is also pretty reassuring.
I have been looking for a small suv because of living in London and needing the space whenever taking a break. This review is so good I have fallen for the stonic as it is affordable without compromising on the modern features. Ace review.
Starts at 3:49
The car became classic by the time you finished the intro.
Great video btw ❤
Watching from New Zealand. I LOVE my KIA STONIC...just the right size. Perfect for zipping around in. They are very popular here! Great review...thanks.
Fantastic review and good to see it’s not the all singing all dancing top spec most car reviews do, the 2 version would do me fine , I like privacy glass and a reverse camera but not at an extra cost , the 2 I can manage with parking sensors and Apple car play does me for entertainment, quality spec for a lower price, I’m easily pleased as all cars are so advanced nowadays, contacting the showroom tomorrow based on your review your costing me a small fortune ha, keep up,the good work 👍🏼
Great video, Lots of info Thanks
Extremely helpful for me as this is what I am contemplating buying. Great to know about laying the parcel shelf down in the back that's a game changer for me when I put the dog in the back! Thank you very much!!
Nice review. I'm test driving one next week.
Have just purchased this model, lovely surprise awaiting delivery am excited.
Thank you for this thorough review ❤
that's a whole season recap of an intro
Doesn't start till 3.48 that's crazy
Amazing review, I purchased one of these last week and pick it up in a few days, can't wait!
Just bought one. Great review.
Excellent AJ 👍
Great review! There's a few things on here that i haven't seen on other reviews. I appreciate you lol 🥰👍
Long ass intro, please shorten it, or remove it (wayy better) this is youtube not boomer tv
If you don't like a video, why not just go & watch something else?
Text comprehension over 9000, go on boomer tv. I liked and was interested in the video contents, I was just saying that on youtube having an intro that is 50% of the video is cringe af
Agree. Extremely long 😅
Great info AJ (but the four minute intro is a bit much). Thanks
Point taken however 96.6% of our audience are new viewers only .04 of a percent that actually come back so we need to let them know we don’t just do car reviews
@@AJThePlayerRUclipsChannel max 30 seconds intro. Believe me, been in the media biz, it's not a media staple for nothing.
Great review, cheers 🍻
Nice vid 👍
Yes, we do expect armrest in the back, and yes, ski-hatch should also be standard.
Kia makes seats with longer sittings for better leg support and longer backrests for our European tall postures.
Have rio test drive one this week thinking about get stonic
I’ve had one of these on order for month , was hoping to get it for a march registration but I think it’s going to be April 🤞🏼
did it arrive? thinking about ordering one
Why is there a transmission tunnel in the back when there's no rear wheel drive? It's an exhaust tunnel in this case.
Hello great review! May I ask about your height and how did you felt inside this car especially at the back? Thank you.
That's a long ass intro. Nope
Does it came with a sunroof.
Yes on some models
You ain't seen me right ?
Got bored watching your 30 min intro really no need!
I thought about this car, but going for an MG HS instead.
Bad idea terrible car
@@AJThePlayerRUclipsChannel why do you say that genuinely curious, what do you feel are the bad points?
Just the general overall quality of the product and the reliability issues.
@@AJThePlayerRUclipsChannel I thought the quality looked pretty good for the price. I’ll going to have a look around before I decide 100% though. What issues have you heard about? Thanks ☺️
@@AJThePlayerRUclipsChannel Totally agree about MG reliability. Bought one (But a ZS) a couple of years ago when twice and for no reason the engine just cut out and refused to start. We were at the time on a large and busy 5 lane roundabout just off the M1 and 3 hours from home. MG were absolutely appalling with their support considering it was just over 14 months old and still in warranty ( we purchased the car from new) We were so disappointed by the car and shocking attitude of the dealer, we sold it. Good riddance to bad rubbush. My wife has the Stonic a Kia and wants a smaller car. Im so impressed with hers, i will have it and sell mine
hahaa. No wives, kids, and definitely no leg measurements.
You do like your voice a bit too much for me.
