thanks for the information because I have a tray on my old original Xbox sometimes it will open sometimes it will not if I just nudge it with my finger usually it opens and closed but I need to get a new band for it before I sell it on eBay
Got a different problem with a broken Toshiba disc drive. The drive doesn't even seem to have any power at all. Nothing lights up or moves. Already cleaned the belt. Even taking the drive apart the motors don't even seem to flinch when I press the eject button ... any idea what it could be?
If the tray is still not opening, remove the rubber band and boil it in hot water for 30 seconds to force the rubber to tighten again. If it still doesn’t work, disassemble the disk drive, remove the tray and clean the runway of all gunk and lubricate it with lithium grease. Reassemble and when you turn the console on, manually eject the tray as shown in this video and continuously open and close the tray to let the lithium grease spread out. It should be fine after all of that

Check the cable that connects to the drive, if it looks good you might have a bad trace on the motherboard
And if you don’t have a bad trace, you might need to test all the capacitors
The crystal version has a Panasonic drive it's completely different from the normal Xbox the on e in the normal are Samsung .
