Great time to go X cuz Insignia is almost going public! Some months back ordered mine for a c-note $100 and it's like the youngest freshest v1.6 model and sweet Samsung drive, very infrequently in BIOS it is opening+closing a lot but I can get ingame and it is delicious
Mine randomly will open sometimes and sometimes it won’t but aslong as it still opens I am good but a simple tap on the top above where the disc drive is located usually works
Well, you're putting in a small object into a small hole, but on the inside it's wide and hard to hit the actual trigger. do it carefully. Otherwise, pick no bones about it, get a screwdriver and open the console, why not? It'll fix your issue. I'm glad you tuned in and hope this was helpful for you bro, cheers.
I found these at a hardware store. I just went in with the old belt and asked for something similar. They're available on the internet as well if you look hard enough. Thanks for checking the video out!
Hi, so I just got an Xbox and my tray is stuck. I find out if I give it a bit of a whack on top, it always opens. But I don't want to have to always do this. Do you think this fix would fix that problem? Also, I tried to put a needle originally into the little hole and it wouldn't work so I pushed it harder and it still didn't work. That's why I decided to give it a whack and that worked. Not sure why the emergency released didn't work though. Oh and lastly, where do I get the rubber bands from? Thanks for your time, look forward to your response.
If the tray cannot be opened, I would unscrew the console and remove the top for easier access. At that point, I'd replace the belt. You can take the old one into a hardware store and ask for a similar one. I appreciate the comment and your viewership. I hope to hear from you again.
@@hdrgbThanks. I find that if I wack the top a little when I press open, it opens fine. So I'm not sure why that is. Maybe I need a new rubber? Could that fix it?
You're asking about two different things as caps and the disc tray are independent of one another. For the tray, you're looking at my video in which I explain that. The video is not about capacitors if that isn't already obvious. I haven't made one about that, so I would do some independent research. If I ever make a cap video, I would be happy if you checked it out. Regards,
Yes, and no. My comment was written in stress and frustration, so i forgot to write what i meant. I watched the video without sound, because it was properly filmed so i could see everything you did. Re-watched it with sound to make sure i wasn't missing out on anything important and i failed in the first step. Power on the console. Further research shows me that it's the capacitor for the main power delivery thingy that is faulty, and that's why it won't power on. Watching the video with sound i noticed that you mention something about it, but you don't show it in the video. The emergency open! Since my machine was already opened so i could see the faulty capacitor i could also remove the whole DVD-drive and access the emergency open button. My problem is solved, but I was probably just frustrated that my solution wasn't in the first video i clicked on. 😂 This might be good to know in the future though!
I honestly didn't even know that tiny hole was there. It used to be a real birch to open if it didn't have a disc in the drive. I still have that problem with mine. Now no matter what I do since I removed the disc, having forgotten the problem it just won't open at all so I'll take thos tutorial to heart Edit: been trying to open it with the emergency hole and it ain't working. What do I do now???
My OG XBOX Philips drive had a stuck tray and tapping on the top case above the drive released the tray. Replacing the belt fixed this issue. However my Thomson drive in my OG XBOX has the issue where it ejects but does not stay open and closes. I noticed with this drive the pulleys are further apart and a standard new belt is very tight. Replacing the belt did not fix this. The insides of the console and drive were dust free and very clean with no bulging or worn capacitors. Any ideas on how to fix this drive?
This isn't a helpful comment and i'm not sure what you want me to do with it, but if I'm reading in between the lines, I think I can help. If the tray is stuck, use a pin and put it in the dvd-drive tray pinhole. That will force it open and you can do the repair.
At that point, I would consider unscrewing the console and opening it up to get a little more leverage when forcing the tray open. The XBOX is rather easy to disassemble. @@WickyTC
I had to poke around with a paper clip a bit before I noticed the tray move a little. Also, the hole is in an angle but you should push the paper clip straight in, not on the angle- if that helps :)
Just ordered Path of Neo can I have this problem but sometimes it just glitches when I hold my thumb against the disc drive it will keep opening and closing the my thumb blocks it and then it just starts working LOL but I like your method better I'm about to order new rings! Thank you brother❤❤
Dude for years my Xbox was spitting the disc out an I just had to pray it worked for once changed the band out works perfectly thank you dude
You're most welcome. I like making these videos that help people out. I hope you come by again sometime. Cheers.
Where I can get rubber bands of 20-22mm diameter which are perfect for original xbox?
I would check your local hardware store or online retailer like Amazon or similar.
Awesome, thank you so much for the advice, will try changing the rubber band next.
I'm glad it helped. Thank you for watching and the kind comment.
Nice walk-through on repairs.
Thanks bro!

Keyword: delicious. Lovely comment. Looking forward to Insignia.
Xbox drive was stuck, replaced the drive belt with a similar sized elastic band and we are good!

Stuck a paper clip in the hole to get the disc tray to open thanks 👍
You're very welcome. Hope to see you here again.
The emergency release wont work on mine, and I don't want to open up the system. Am I just doing it wrong?

Where do you get the replacement belts?
I found these at a hardware store. I just went in with the old belt and asked for something similar. They're available on the internet as well if you look hard enough. Thanks for checking the video out!

My capacitators are leaking and i can't even pull the tray open. What video do you recommend?

I would say if you exhausted all methods it's time you flip that sun-uva console over and open it up, go from there.
Yes I have had to pop it open because the mechanical eject button wouldn't do anything no matter how hard I press.
Hey thanks!
You're welcome. I had to fix this for myself so figured I'd make a video. I hope it was helpful and truly appreciate your viewership.
how was it you got the door open
I used the little hole insert with a pin. Sometimes that fails, so I just unscrew the top and manually open it when changing the rubber belt.
@@hdrgb yeah I finally found it works with well with a paperclip
Uhuh

Shush, Xbox this man is talking
Lol.
Cool
How do you get it to stop flashing red?
It stops automatically once the disc loads.

It's the never ending journey my friend, trial and error, one by one.
If I could get the disc trey open I wouldn't be trying to change the belt
