Hi, Gary. Amazing story. Ownsome to rescue an old bus. looks like new. Please, continue bringing us these videos. Your friend from Puerto Rico, Jorge Castro.
What a lovely kombi. It looks like new and the detail Wow. I can remember my friends kombi. The the reduction gear noise plus the rattling gear shift rod and loose fr gearbox mount. It was a noticeable noise amongst the general rattles that is a vw. We fixed it. Another one of my friends had a 58 with a mid mounted 6cyl holden and 2 speed powerglide a short driveshaft and a holden diff. It had 2 rough gas cut 1/2 plates welded to the axle housing and bolted to the spring plates and a panhard rod setup. it was good for 80mph in a straight line but the brakes were only good for 55mph if that. It was rough at best. He was the last owner. it was rusty and became a donor. It was fast for a kombi.
Hey VW Life. Love all your videos. Wish I had my 1961 bug. I built a 2110 stroker motor with dual 44 carbs and it moved when you step in the gas. . Bug got stolen right out my garage😭 I'm disabled and my 61 was my only hobby. I miss my 61😢😢
@@VWLifeVW Last year. My mom was visiting from Hawaii so I took her to the Las Vegas strip and when I got home my garage door was rip apart and my 61 baby was gone. 😭😭😢😢😭😭 I put so much sweet and tears into restoring her. Finally got her looking good and POOF, Someone took her away from me. I'm still heart broken. I miss going on the Sundays Cruz around the Vegas valley. When I do go to a vw show or Cruz, I feel like I'm an outsider and not part of show or Cruz. My 61 was the only thing would take my mind off my disability.

wow that sounds like a crazy custom setup! they did a lot of weird things back in the day with these old Volkswagens didn't they?!
Never ever tell a body man that you’re not in a hurry!
Great advice!
They think to themselves "here we go we got a live one here"
Makes me wounder the longer it stays in the body shop the more they justify to get more money out of you!
1000$ for headliner... money very well spent. Very nice work!
