If you have wide feet, get your normal size, seeing as these are thin at the toe and stuff. Great quality boot. My foot he molded to the inside and they fit even better

I have some cheap Walmart steal-toes that I'm gonna rock for now but when I get my first check I'm buying these boots!!! Been looking at Thursday's for awhile now. I read reviews about that "Go half a size down" thing from reviews and got the wrong size. That is assuming that all you wear is sneakers, If you wear a dress shoe like an Allen Edmonds, go with your dress shoe size and it will fit perfectly.

Thursday Boots are excellent boots. They took a big bite out of the market. Wolverine responded with their BLVD collection, which easily beats Thursday Boots. BLVD boots look and fit much better. They have genuine Vibram soles. The BLVD collection sells for $199. Thursday responded with the “StormKing” sole, which bears a strong resemblance to Wolverine BLVD boots.

I bet they’re still better quality than wolverine because everything under 200.00 are absolute garbage. I’d know I was a welder and iron worker and unless it was thoroughgood or redwing it fell apart! So for a none work boot such as these and the wolverines also made for such I’m sure Thursday is still better.
I just got the exact same boot. They are so comfortable. I hear r talk about great boot... for the price. I don't know boots, but to me $200 is a lot of money. So these boots needs to last.
I have the tobacco President and love the low-care aspect of it. I hate Thursday’s fake-Danite sole, however, which went flat after 4 months of light wear. I replaced it with a Vibram sole and they are so superior. Hopefully this new storm king sole will wear better and not be slick, because I’d love to go back to Thursdays.

Man I hated TBC for the last 3 years but this year I bought a Captain and a Chukka pair 😆. I went true to size in my Chukkas tho. Chukkas always seem to run small on me. Great video my friend I enjoyed it

I came back to them because I understood better what gap they filled in my rotation and TBC filled it in perfectly with aesthetics and price point and quality. However, I NEVER pay retail. Also I didn't understand my sizing and foot dimensions so I always got the wrong size. Once I understood my foot sizing and fit it was a no brainer. TBC are more comfortable than I expected. With never paying retail it's a win! I got The Captain in brown too. Thank you for asking.

Considering a second purchase of possibly the Stormking sole, just wish they had a couple of more colors. I was curious do you find the Stormking has the same feel or fit, and is it as comfortable as the regular Captains?
I recently ordered The Stormking in Tobacco since I found the studded Captains were trash for CO weather. I went a half size down this time and have yet to try them on and past the return period. I'm happy to hear that sizing down is the way to go! Does the toe box get more roomy from your experience wearing for a while and stretch? Does it stretch overall and break in? I have a feeling they're gonna fit quite snug. I wonder how they have broken in for you now compared to 1st trying them on. Thanks man great video.

I too them up this hike to a ICY waterfall recently ruclips.net/video/QpAx8MglHsU/видео.html and that was over an hour and I felt great. Water did not yet penetrate and my feet were warm. I was hiking and moving a lot so I think that helped. However, I did buy some new LL Bean Boots that are on their way now. I'll be doing a video on those soon. I think 1-2 hrs is the top i'd go in the captains. That's why i think these are great winter boots because the Stormking Outsole is legit and for most people you just travel from the house to the car and then to work or short outings. That's a great question. I tried one of each on and walked around and I would say about the same but if anything the StormKing was a bit more giving. I think the rubber is a bit softer?? (minimal difference, if any) That said, I was mostly concerned with the size difference. Glad I sized down on this new pair!

Could you compare the outsole to the standard studded sole and the wedge sole? Like, which of them is the most comfortable to stand and walk on for 8 hours (tile/concrete) in order? I have the studded sole and it is fine sitting at a desk but if I need to go out on the floor and walk/stand for hours at a time, it is too hard underfoot. Trying to decide if the StormKing outsole or the Diplomat Wedge would be a better bet. (I don't need a work boot, just comfortable soles, lol.) Thanks!

I bought a pair in the tobacco color as well on amazon. I dont know why, but the color my pair doesnt look like what is shown online. Instead of looking like the pair shown in this video, it looks more of like a dark brown. Did anyone experience the same issue?
Would these outsoles be perfect for a restaurant environment? I need new shoes and I'm looking into getting some boots this time. Would I be slipping around with these outsoles?
They would not be approved in the restaurants I've worked in. That would be awesome if a cobbler could outfit some Thursday Captains with a restaurant approved outsole. Would probably slip in these in a restaurant setting.
I just could not do this companies boots. They are good budget boots. I ordered a couple pair when they first started up and did try to like them. They just made my feet sweat and the foot bed did not work for me. I did order another pair a few months ago as their product line had greatly expanded. Gave them to charity after a couple wears. These boots are good for a budget boot and a starting point to see if you like the ankle boot style.
@@GentlemansJourney I have a pretty healthy collection of boots. Most are Alden, Red Wings, White's, Lucchese and Nick's. I do try out other boots from time-to-time just to check them out. Not on a large scale but most of these usually do not make it into the keepers category. Thursday, Helm, Allen Edmonds and a few others brands did not make the cut. Nothing wrong with the boots I did not keep. Most are decent when factoring in price point, and other criteria. Some boots just did not look good on me as well. Not a boot snob but like anything, you like what you like and you normally get what you pay for. Any clothing I buy regardless of price that does not stay goes to a veterans charity. I could sell them but would rather help other folks in need.

Got a video coming out very soon where I took these guys out hiking in the snow and strapped some Yaktrax on them too. Loved them, even in the cold for a short hike. Loving these.

After I went hiking I noticed that there was a bit of sulfer build up, like little white veins and that came off easy with the wipe of a wet rag. I haven't touched them with conditioner. There is a pinned note (first comment above) from Thursday stating the Rough and Tough leather should not be conditioned.
How would these look dressed up a little bit? Not like full business casual, but maybe some chinos and a button down? I like their rugged look but not sure if they could be dressed up beyond jeans

There is really no noticeable difference. I love them both but the StormKing fits my life style much more. I took out the Thursday original outsole out on a rocky road and I noticed a bit of the stitching break a bit.

I'd say that it is just shy of nubuck. Nubuck is sanded top grail leather to give it a bit of a nap but not as much as suede. The Rugged and Resilient is still closer to smooth skin. Thursday does offer some strictly nubuck leather boots. The rugged and resilient is a very interesting leather, loving mine.

I got the Brown, they give off a red color on camera and in person. If I wanted the traditional outsole again I'd go for the Arizona Adobe, Burnt Copper or Terracotta. I like the Rugged and Resilient line so the Terracotta would be my third choice.
Not sure that I can give the best answer but at the back of the boot from the midsole it is 1 1/4in tall and toward the front of the heel it is 3/4in tall. Let me know if that helps at all. Cheers!
I would say no, it was snug but not tight or loose. I've been wearing them regularly now and they continue to feel great. I am a 12 in regular shoes and the Captains in 12 give me a bit too much room but my new 11.5's seem to be the right fit for me.
No but you could purchase some waterproofing chemicals to add to them. However, if I recommend that then I'll get a ton of pushback online as how it will ruin the leather.... lol
@@GentlemansJourney possibly, because I normally wear a 7.5 in red wings boots, so it was strange to me to go a full size down. I plan on getting a pair of captains and I contacted Thursday through Instagram and asked them if I should go a full size down in the captains as well and they said yes.
That is a great question and I wasn't sure so I weighed them. I ship things out for Ebay so I used my scale. The old Captains are worn for 2 years now and they weigh 3lb 7.5oz. The new StormKing Captains weigh 3lb 9.8oz. As you can tell there is virtually no difference. In terms of the sound, I think the StormKing is a little quieter because the rubber seems to be softer. Specifically the Note states "Note: If you are looking to clean or treat Grizzly Wheat, Terracotta, or any "Rugged & Resilient" leathers (Arizona Adobe, Tobacco, Black Matte, Canyon, Burnt Copper, Sandstone, and Colorado), click here for instructions. Do not follow the instructions below." It's inadvisable to use a smooth leather conditioner on Thursday's Rugged & Resilient leather. It's not a smooth leather. Thursday doesn't advertise it's tannage but it's likely a nubuck leather that's been weather treated and that means you really need to treat it like suede/nubuck when it comes to cleaning, which means NO smooth leather conditioners, creams, or waxes. Can you use those products? Sure, it's still full grain leather after all. Can it negatively affect the leather? Yes. Is it guaranteed to negatively affect the leather? I'm not going to say that but it will definitely change the texture of the Rugged & Resilient leather over time after repeated applications and can also affect the weather proofing. My main complaints is the same as you. Widee sizes isnt available to many shoes, and colors are limited.

Really enjoy the videos and enthusiasm you have for Thursday Boots. Just bought a pair of the Natural Captains because I wanted the Chromexcel leather. Considering a second purchase of possibly the Stormking sole, just wish they had a couple of more colors. I was curious do you find the Stormking has the same feel or fit, and is it as comfortable as the regular Captains?

I recently ordered The Stormking in Tobacco since I found the studded Captains were trash for CO weather. I went a half size down this time and have yet to try them on and past the return period. I'm happy to hear that sizing down is the way to go! Does the toe box get more roomy from your experience wearing for a while and stretch? Does it stretch overall and break in? I have a feeling they're gonna fit quite snug. I wonder how they have broken in for you now compared to 1st trying them on. Thanks man great video.

How good are they at protecting you from the cold?
I too them up this hike to a ICY waterfall recently ruclips.net/video/QpAx8MglHsU/видео.html and that was over an hour and I felt great. Water did not yet penetrate and my feet were warm. I was hiking and moving a lot so I think that helped. However, I did buy some new LL Bean Boots that are on their way now. I'll be doing a video on those soon. I think 1-2 hrs is the top i'd go in the captains. That's why i think these are great winter boots because the Stormking Outsole is legit and for most people you just travel from the house to the car and then to work or short outings. That's a great question. I tried one of each on and walked around and I would say about the same but if anything the StormKing was a bit more giving. I think the rubber is a bit softer?? (minimal difference, if any) That said, I was mostly concerned with the size difference. Glad I sized down on this new pair!
I would also say they’re equally comfortable! The stormkings have no break in period whatsoever tho. Straight up comfortable from day one

Could you compare the outsole to the standard studded sole and the wedge sole? Like, which of them is the most comfortable to stand and walk on for 8 hours (tile/concrete) in order? I have the studded sole and it is fine sitting at a desk but if I need to go out on the floor and walk/stand for hours at a time, it is too hard underfoot. Trying to decide if the StormKing outsole or the Diplomat Wedge would be a better bet. (I don't need a work boot, just comfortable soles, lol.)

Are they waterproof? Can you walk thru puddles?
Water resistant overall. They have a nice storm welt and great construction. You can do better for steady weather wear but puddles will be fine.
I bought a pair in the tobacco color as well on amazon. I dont know why, but the color my pair doesnt look like what is shown online. Instead of looking like the pair shown in this video, it looks more of like a dark brown. Did anyone experience the same issue?
I've seen folks come up with similar things like this. Maybe it varies by season or supply. Still, hard to depend on the color at times.
Would these outsoles be perfect for a restaurant environment? I need new shoes and I'm looking into getting some boots this time. Would I be slipping around with these outsoles?
They would not be approved in the restaurants I've worked in. That would be awesome if a cobbler could outfit some Thursday Captains with a restaurant approved outsole. Would probably slip in these in a restaurant setting.

I just could not do this companies boots. They are good budget boots. I ordered a couple pair when they first started up and did try to like them. They just made my feet sweat and the foot bed did not work for me. I did order another pair a few months ago as their product line had greatly expanded. Gave them to charity after a couple wears. These boots are good for a budget boot and a starting point to see if you like the ankle boot style.

@@GentlemansJourney I have a pretty healthy collection of boots. Most are Alden, Red Wings, White's, Lucchese and Nick's. I do try out other boots from time-to-time just to check them out. Not on a large scale but most of these usually do not make it into the keepers category. Thursday, Helm, Allen Edmonds and a few others brands did not make the cut. Nothing wrong with the boots I did not keep. Most are decent when factoring in price point, and other criteria. Some boots just did not look good on me as well. Not a boot snob but like anything, you like what you like and you normally get what you pay for. Any clothing I buy regardless of price that does not stay goes to a veterans charity. I could sell them but would rather help other folks in need.

Just got a pair myself and they are gorgeous. Winters are pretty rough where I live too so I am curious how well the leather will change in heavy snow.
Got a video coming out very soon where I took these guys out hiking in the snow and strapped some Yaktrax on them too. Loved them, even in the cold for a short hike. Loving these.

@@aMoodyHipster You had me thinking so I went and checked them. After I went hiking I noticed that there was a bit of sulfer build up, like little white veins and that came off easy with the wipe of a wet rag. I haven't touched them with conditioner. There is a pinned note (first comment above) from Thursday stating the Rough and Tough leather should not be conditioned.
How would these look dressed up a little bit? Not like full business casual, but maybe some chinos and a button down? I like their rugged look but not sure if they could be dressed up beyond jeans

There is really no noticeable difference. I love them both but the StormKing fits my life style much more. I took out the Thursday original outsole out on a rocky road and I noticed a bit of the stitching break a bit.

What type of leather is the rugged and resilient leather? It seems to be nubuck but not sure???
I'd say that it is just shy of nubuck. Nubuck is sanded top grail leather to give it a bit of a nap but not as much as suede. The Rugged and Resilient is still closer to smooth skin. Thursday does offer some strictly nubuck leather boots. The rugged and resilient is a very interesting leather, loving mine.

What color were your original Thursdays?
I got the Brown, they give off a red color on camera and in person. If I wanted the traditional outsole again I'd go for the Arizona Adobe, Burnt Copper or Terracotta. I like the Rugged and Resilient line so the Terracotta would be my third choice.
How high are the heel of the boots? Nice review!
Not sure that I can give the best answer but at the back of the boot from the midsole it is 1 1/4in tall and toward the front of the heel it is 3/4in tall. Let me know if that helps at all. Cheers!
Was there any heel space when you first put them on when you downsized?
I would say no, it was snug but not tight or loose. I've been wearing them regularly now and they continue to feel great. I am a 12 in regular shoes and the Captains in 12 give me a bit too much room but my new 11.5's seem to be the right fit for me.

Are Thursday boots waterproof?
No but you could purchase some waterproofing chemicals to add to them. However, if I recommend that then I'll get a ton of pushback online as how it will ruin the leather.... lol
I had to go a full size down for the loggers, I tried the half and they were too big.
Wow, that almost makes me think I could order a 11 since I'm a 12 and it might work.....
@@GentlemansJourney possibly, because I normally wear a 7.5 in red wings boots, so it was strange to me to go a full size down. I plan on getting a pair of captains and I contacted Thursday through Instagram and asked them if I should go a full size down in the captains as well and they said yes.

That is a great question and I wasn't sure so I weighed them. I ship things out for Ebay so I used my scale. The old Captains are worn for 2 years now and they weigh 3lb 7.5oz. The new StormKing Captains weigh 3lb 9.8oz. As you can tell there is virtually no difference.
In terms of the sound, I think the StormKing is a little quieter because the rubber seems to be softer. Hope that helps and check us out on Facebook too at Gentleman's Journey

Specifically the Note states "Note: If you are looking to clean or treat Grizzly Wheat, Terracotta, or any "Rugged & Resilient" leathers (Arizona Adobe, Tobacco, Black Matte, Canyon, Burnt Copper, Sandstone, and Colorado), click here for instructions. Do not follow the instructions below." It's inadvisable to use a smooth leather conditioner on Thursday's Rugged & Resilient leather. It's not a smooth leather. Thursday doesn't advertise it's tannage but it's likely a nubuck leather that's been weather treated and that means you really need to treat it like suede/nubuck when it comes to cleaning, which means NO smooth leather conditioners, creams, or waxes. Can you use those products? Sure, it's still full grain leather after all. Can it negatively affect the leather? Yes. Is it guaranteed to negatively affect the leather? I'm not going to say that but it will definitely change the texture of the Rugged & Resilient leather over time after repeated applications and can also affect the weather proofing.

Thanks for watching and the sub! I don't own the timberlands but I have tried them on and I would say that the timberlands have a wider toe box and less arch support. That's based on memory but I would say that the midsole Thursday has came up with is hard to beat.
