If you scroll down on the Thursday website for a particular boot you'll find a "Product Features" section. At the bottom of that section there is a "Release Notes" and clicking on that gives you any recent history changes to the boot AND the last used by it and its predecessors if applicable. This boot is made on the Challenger last.
I have a pair of these. Almost a year now trudging through rain, mud, & snow in them & the wax on the vamp still looks brand new. I was expecting them to show some of the nappy fibers by now. I guess that's why they're called "beaters".
I've had this boot for a few months and I love it! The upper leather is beautiful and a few scuffs look great as the roughout comes through. I've hiked in it with mud up pretty high up the boot and they cleaned up just fine. In fact, after some cleaning, I rewaxed them with some Venetian leather balm and they basically looked new and shiny! The unlined shaft is great for comfort. I enjoy that the leather doesn't really crease and just sort of gets a different more matte texture on wear points. Overall, I couldn't be happier - fantastic value, especially with the thick leather midsole and leather welt.
I will be interested to see how these break in and wear over time. The last and shape seems a bit reminiscent of Doc Martens. I have a few pairs of Thursdays. The Captains are really comfortable. The Vanguard was a bit narrow for me and was a hellish break in.
I have the matte black. When I got them, they squeeked. I fixed the issue by putting cream on the tongue. I have narrow feet and a thin frame, so Thursdays work well for me. These have more chunk than the Captain and other models, but they still fit my slim style.
Thank you for another excellent boot review video! I've worn this boot for almost a year, it's a favorite casual boot here. The outer sole is relatively soft and luv this flesh-out waxed leather - Very comfy! Actually, wish Thursday offered additional style & colors in this leather. I have couple other boot makers in my collection, Grant Stone has a dark oak reverse leather we may try too. Cheers
Im a Vans guy, never wear anything else, so I'm quite used to a more rounder toe, so its making me lean more for the hero or diplomat. My brother has the captain and loves them, but with my slightly more baggy jeans I think these will work better.
I’ve orders the president saddle wood and love them. Then ordered the matte black version of the hero when they were called titans. Was really upset that they sent me used scuffed up ones. Was able to somewhat brush the blemishes out but the idea of spending 200 bucks I’d expect a fresh brand new pair. Will still buy from them again but if it happens again I’ll send back and leave a review
Hello Tek, I wanted to know when you might have an updated video on the Hero. I am currently looking at either the Hero or the Vanguard in Waxed Cacao and would genuinely appreciate your thoughts. The Truman Boot in Waxed Cacao is what I truly want but I am not sure I want to pay that much when Thursday Boots have a few choices to offer. Thank you for your time and keep up the videos!
Really looking forward to your full review of this boot! I'm looking at purchasing these as an alternative to Doc Martens. I bought some of the Made in England 1460s and was pretty disappointed. Hopefully these would be a good alternative/replacement!
Check out Solovair boots if you like the look of Doc Martens. I believe they are made in England and the company was supposed to have been started by ex Doc employees, IIRC. Worth a look and are in the same price point as Thursdays.
Hello, thank you for the comprehensive and thoughtful review. I have one question: Rose Anvil measured the leather thickness of the Vanguard at well over 2mm with the Horween flesh out leather. How thick is the leather on the heroes
I’m gonna be buying my first pair of Thursday Boots in the near future and having trouble picking which one. I love the look of the Hero in Waxed Cacao (would be interested to know how they’ve held up the past 4 months) like you have here I’m also interested in the Vanguard in the same leather as well as the Stomper in Black Cherry. I’m pretty new to the boot world I have a few pairs of Docs in a size 13 which is the same I wear in sneakers I do wear thick socks and insoles with them and my foot doesn’t move in them (I have a wide foot I’m usually between a 12.5-13 in most sneakers always 13 in Vans) so was curious on sizing should I get a 12.5?
Teik, I just received my 1st pair of Thursday Boots today. I ordered the Captain StormKing in Coyote Tan Waxed Roughout in my regular Brannock size. I probably could have gone down a 1/2 size; however, I plan to slip in my orthotics once I break them in a bit. I was searching for a review to get an idea of how these are going to look as they are worn and patina. You MUST do a follow up video - hopefully, within the next 30 days just in case I want to send these back for a refund. HaHa!!! 😆
Another solid video Teik! For the money Thursdays offer a great value into the boot world. I own two pairs, and they are comfortable and well built. What’s your boot count up to now?? 🤣
IMO these are closer to shoes than boots. They lack the volume that most boots offer so you can wear thicker socks. I ordered a pair because they look great but returned them right away. They're probably fine for someone who usually wears shoes and wants a pair of light pair of boots and won't wear thick socks with them. I have D width feet and still felt the volume to be too small.
IMO, consider the Grant Stone field boots for hiking and forest walks. You could pick up a pair of seconds or a sale pair for low 200s. Don't fear Grant Stone seconds. They have very minor flaws.
@@goonerphilosopher many thanks. In fact, I am not bothered of the price. It's just a matter of a good quality round and wide toe box boot, may be under 800 usd should work
@@prasannagunarathna3475 After trying to find my size in JK Boots, I thought my feet were extremely wide! I went to Red Wing and got a Brannock scan and learned that my right foot measured between a D and E width while the left is a D width. The Thursday Captain fits well in the vamp and toe box with wiggle room. Since I ordered my Brannock size there should be plenty room for my orthotics once they have broken in. Give Thursday's a try. You can always return them for a full refund and free return shipping in the US.
@@prasannagunarathna3475 I noticed that GS put a couple of leathers in the sale section yesterday. If it is your style with the wedge sole, it is a great boot at a great price.
Can sombody please cpntact thursdays and say why cant they make a wider lass , the boot looks nice but just for dressing up , its a bit narrow , i love to see them make a service boot with a different lass , all they have to do is look at like 5 other companies that have that right look .
@@Bootlosophy I was one of those people. A year down the road and I own much better boots and honestly view my Thursday's as a waste of money, now. Wish I had skipped them for Red Wings.
Not everyone who was wearing sneakers and timberlands at most the whole life is ready to pay 350 dollars for the boots. When I first saw these type of prices I was shocked. Now I have a decent collection of significantly more expensive boots and I understand why are they worth it. But for the beginner it is a nice step just to get an idea. I just wish Thursday will make their boots wider, because I know already three people who had to return them because of the weird sizing/last

That’s been the turn-off for me too. The profile looks nice (other than the soles), but the toe always looks pointy to me. This is a really nice boot though and I really like the shape of the toe compared to other models of Thursdays. I appreciate the review he did.

I like Thursday boots. I'm waiting for them to use leather insoles. No man made products under my feet. No Poron Antimicrobial Shock Absorbing Insoles for me. IT blocks the flow of Chi through our energy system.
I'm the same; if someone has wooden flooring I always ask them to sand off the polyurethane/varnish. Even the thinnest coating will block my chi and misalign my chakras.

They didn’t really suit my (weird) feet so I’ve moved them on.
can we get an update soon? maybe 6 months?
The toebox width was slightly too narrow for me, hated having to return these. Best waxed flesh option for under $200 imo otherwise
Wish they did EE sizes, I don't like going a full size up just to make the width work.
They do now lol

is the waxed cacao from Horween? Their website does state the waxed cacao for the sneakers is from horween. But it seems no information for the hero
