  • Remember when we first moved in to our new shop (if not then check out the video from 2 years ago!). HartSmart Products has grown quite nicely over the past couple of years and a problem has become evident...

Can you set up profiles for the big 60 with a 1mm nozzle

    • @ecostruder

Modix printers are certainly capable of using 1mm nozzles, though getting it set up in your slicing software to work with a 1mm properly is something that is up to the individual user to do. Each material, nozzle size, print speed, layer height, etc. will require different settings. Modix provides a profile to get things started in their Customers Zone, but it's initially set up for PLA using a 0.40mm nozzle, so you'll need to make the updates.

Note to self, never try to print ABS on PEI using a ABS slurry.

@@ecostruder Ya, the print stuck like super glue, I had to chisel it off, that's why you may have noticed I ordered two more PEI beds ;-P
I would hate for anyone else to make the same mistake.

Yikes! I tend to avoid ABS at all, when possible. But when our customers demand ABS I'll usually print it on a layer of glue stick. That helps hold it down while the bed is hot, and also allows it to separate once it's cold. I hope that helps you and any others who read this!

@@ecostruder Glue stick on the PEI? Then a good cleaning when switching back to something other than ABS? A local computer shop bought several thousand pounds of ABS filament years ago and sells it to me real cheap, so I have been printing mostly in ABS for the past seven years.

Yep, Glue stick on the PEI does the trick for us. I like Elmer's Disappearing Purple, but just about any glue stick works.
