You can mix any amount of bubbletip anemones with no issue in any tank man. I've been doing it for 20 years. They are the same species just a different color. They will even gain color from each other that they didn't previously have.
Maybe with some rainbow btas, but sunburst nems are different story. Feel free to send me some vids and pics on my Facebook and insta. Would like to see it. I have made this vid do to my personal experience.
Thats an exception not the rule, for every person that says you can keep them together, theres another 2 videos on youtube of anemones slaughtering each other.
I’ve never had any luck with mixing men’s 😢
I am very impressed with this video! I like how you share your own experiences and not just general information
Thanks! ✌️

Great video, so I've had a BTA for around 4 months in my fluvial eco, was very happy, recently I upgraded the light to a Prime 16HD and I downloaded a light schedule of David Saxby and put it on the acclimation mode. My BTA this morning has split into 3, 1 looks in a bad way, the other 2 ok at the moment....must be due to my light change as you say...what should I do now? Thanks
Just let them be. Don’t change anything and good luck! ✌️
Tonight I've made it my mission to watch every video you have ever posted so here we go 😁
O no 😅 Sorry for going through this! Lol ✌️
Hi. Thank you for this very informative video. I wanted to know do you have your settings for blue light intensity levels or percentage more than the white light intensity levels/ percentage? By how much? How many hours your lights are on each day?
No problem! Thanks! In this tank I run my xr15 gen4 so pro on 90%. Have a full spectrum/ whites for 5hours and blues for 7hours
Your tank is too small for the angelfish and tang
great video, thank you for breaking it down to your own experiences.
No problem. Watch my newest video where I go over and talk more about nems
Appreciate the time and into you are sharing. May I ask what type/ brand of light you are using on this tank?
No problem! It’s a xr15 gen4 pro on 90%
@@ReefUnderTheRoof I have the same light and trying to find a schedule and intensity. What size tank is that? Have you checked PAR at 90%? I'm only doing 50% in my JBJ 45 rimless. I have LPS and softies. I wonder if it's too low
@@flip3pride it’s a 40gal 24x24x18. Anemones like higher par then soft and lps corals
Hello what brand and model tank is that? I’m using a 10 gal JBJ peninsula for my nems but the AIO sump is annoying to clean and looking to trade it out. TIA
Mine is 40gal aio waterbox
Great info, I like the tank view but it's not the best primary view, and you could use a change hear and there to really grab attention. Thanks for the info.
Thanks! Check out this vid I made…ruclips.net/video/FfJHTimVKPU/видео.htmlsi=scoNLM_ZQp01GRit
Location of the lighting also makes a difference. They move towards lightning
Shud i keep light 24h? I hv set up for 11h lighting and auto turn off, I put new BTAs it opened on day 1 but closed day 2 , will monitor, water levels ok, im dosing alkaline as it dropped a little last week, how long does t take before it fully opens up. Asking jus to learn if its alive r dead
My light Is on for 12 hours. U don’t need to dose anything for btas. Just keep salinity and temp stable. Anemones close and open all the time. That’s just what they do.
Hi there, do u think Ai Prime 16 HD light in 10g AIO would be strong enough for RBTA? (Thriving and colours)
Sure. I would set it up at least 80% intensity and higher. Nems love lots of lightning!
Do you dose Cal/Alk?
What is your salinity?
How often you do water change and how much?
Appreciate your help
I dose manually AFR but just ones a month. It doesn’t move much in this tank. Salinity 1.026. Water change 5-10gall a month.
They don't really consume those like LPS and SPS, simple water changes will replace anything that gets pulled out of the water especially in these smaller systems
What's the lowest temperature you can keep them at?
The lowest I had mine is 76.
Do you use carbon in your anemone tanks?
From time to time... I use it just to take care of that fishy smell.
Dude u covered a lot so here goes…..my nem eats moved once but doesn’t really blow up the tentacles are a lil shrunk.and it changed color I have had it four months it was green almost white ..maybe bleached ? Now it’s kinda brown but it eats and I just started phytoplankton in my tank today .I have 2 clowns that are constantly in it all day in out in out …one thing is I have played with my lights a(ai prime 16hd) and now settings are in high 40% like 48 % whit purple blue
In my experience changing lights is never the issue, adding 6% red and 4% blue is never gonna be the solution to your problems. Id really try and find out what exactly you are trying to change, and do it very slowly.
How about water evaporation?
I have 2 bta, pink and sunburst. They hide under a rock and they totally bleeched. All white.Changed my rocks to they cant hide.Collor comes back and they looked amazing andbubbly.Afther a while they turned brown and i dont know why.Water parameters are good and light is good also.I am stuck
Don’t mix them. Pick the one u like and enjoy it. UV sterilizer can help as well
@@ReefUnderTheRoof I have a uv sterilizer.Just dont undrestand how they looked great and amazing color. But now thet look brown and no color
@@jawon70 That is normal when u are mixing different nems. When is the last time u cleaned your UV?
@@ReefUnderTheRoof its clean
@@ReefUnderTheRoof i'v seen many tanks with different colors. So its possible
I’ve had my anemone for 1 day, my Kessil a 160 is on as low as I can get it 😂
Is it too late to turn it up to 80%?
U should be good, but make sure to leave it after you set it up or move it very slow
i have 2 nems in my tank i say if u have anything over 70gal display u can keep 2 nems on either side of the tank tho i would do no more than that. hatian and a bubble tip. i currently run no uv but plan to in the future and my tank display size is 75 and a 10gal sump
I tried mixing mine in 100gal system and I failed. Haven't used an UV at the time. In this vid i am mainly talking about Sunburst Anemones (Chicago/Colorado). Usually rainbows do better with mixing.
@@ReefUnderTheRoof when you say you failed fid the anemones die or sum?
@@ReefUnderTheRoof I'd like to know what to look for just incase sum just changes in the next month or so. So I can have a action plan I didn't know that you couldn't even mix anemones without doing the medication thing first
@@aaronfitz2892 some died and some I brought back with Ciprofloxacin
@@aaronfitz2892 look up anemone cipro treatment. UV might help as well. Anemones will stop eating at first, then will loose color, start shrinking in size and tentacles will get smaller and smaller.
part two sent the first……..and royal blue no red or green..violet and ur are same 48% beside not playing with my light what about the plankton is that good and feed shrimp and mices shrimp 🦐 …..seems happy but not puffed up as I think it should
If you are going to change your lights do it very, very slowly. I keep my xr15 pro at 90%. Nems like lots of Lighting. Send me a picture of your anemone on my Instagram or Facebook account,,reef under the roof ''
I like the light with the pot.
Thanks
Anemones does not like any type of algea or only diano ?
They don’t mind regular algae. Don’t know about cyanobacteria, but for sure they dislike dinoflagellates!
My bannerfish been eaten by anemone can know why actually this happen?
Which anemone?
How do i khow i have dinose in my tank ?
Look up on Google ,,reef tank dinoflagellates”
My bubble tip refuses to eat, how do I make it eat?
Do u have any soft corals or other anemones in your tank?
Mixing them is in the top 3 but not dipping ?
Dipping? Why would you dip anemones? Check out this other/ more complete vid I have made about btas …ruclips.net/video/FfJHTimVKPU/видео.htmlsi=scoNLM_ZQp01GRit
I have 3 pastel rose bubble tip anemones 1 snow globe green bubble tip anemone. 1 Rainbow anemone and a sun burst anemone. A rose, rainbow and sun burst are touching each other they are all getting along fine. I guess it comes down to the nems. Thank raised vs wild caught. This has been a debate for years. Some ppl say you can't and some ppl can say you can. I guess it comes down to the nems.
All I tried is nems that have been in the hobby for years. Usually rainbows do better with mixing and sunburst not so much. For how long u them together?
@@ReefUnderTheRoof i actually just got the sunburst in August. It was tank raised as well. I was very nervous at 1st. Fish guy told me if there was a problem I could bring it back but so far so good 🤞🏻from what I was told by my fish buy who has been in the hobby for 50 years in order for nems to get along they have to be tank raised and acclimated the right way. He told me to put the bag in the tank. Open the bag and put he nem in a acclimation box inside the bag. Dont let any water get into the tank from the bag. Take a couple drops every hour from the bag into the tank and from the tank Into the bag. He told me to do this for 24 hours. I guess as soon as the water hits the other water the nems automatically can sense there is knew life in the tank. It ended up turning out good for me. He did say that sometimes it just don't work but doing it that way will give you the best chance. I love your tank man its stunning.
@@sinatra617 All sunburst nems are tank raised. I don't think nobody is bringing in sunburst nems from the wild. Most of the folks will ask for lineage of the sunburst nems. I don't think aclimating your nem will do any good. Usually when u mix nems they all do good for a while and after few weeks things start to go downhill. UV is the only thing I know that helps and quarantine with cipro. Hopefully this helps
@@ReefUnderTheRoof im getting it confused with a different one then Im still new to the hobby so its more then likely im confusing the sunburst with another one. As far as acclimation thats what he said and I also watched this guy on RUclips who specializes in nems and has a similar process on acclimation is key to having nems get along
I got a nem that has sticky tentacles but I put the food in its mouth and it just doesn’t eat idk if my clown fish feeds it while I’m not looking, what should I do?
Keep an eye on it. I would order cyprofloxacin, just in case. Consider UV sterilizer as well
@@ReefUnderTheRoof any idea where to buy cyprofloxacin ?
@@gsV_vPeZGz www.reef2reef.com/threads/protocol-for-using-antibiotics-to-treat-infected-anemones.758495/
@@gsV_vPeZGz chewy has it
@@ReefUnderTheRoof I got a protein skimmer and a Uv sterilizer and I left it alone for about a week and I tried feeding a tiny piece of shrimp and it went for it 🙌 how many times do you feed your nems ?
What tank is that?
AIO waterbox 40 gallon
Can Anemones live in bare bottom tank ?
Yeah. As long as u have some rocks or rubble to place them at, they should do great. I have made a few shorts on my RUclips channel about nems, so feel free to check them out.
Hi
Whts best uv for nano tank ?
What do u need it for?
@Reef Under The Roof need to setup 13galon sunburst tank .
@@avestaesfand5604 I like radions, but I would get a bigger tank if u are planning of keeping nems.
@Reef Under The Roof i did not khow radions makes uv sterilizer...
@@avestaesfand5604 sorry, was texting and driving. (don’t do that, btw) I use aqua uv 15watt. I think innovative marine is making a one for all in one tanks that slides on the back chamber. That one might be good. If u won’t mix nems or plan on having lots of soft corals with the nems, u can skip uv all together.
cool but i love to see a front close up look 👀
Check out my other vids and my instagram. Thanks!
👌
Tank Size please 🙏🏻 ❤...
40 gallons 24x24x18 waterbox aio
how many gallons? love ur nem tank!!
40 aio. Thanks!
What is a diano
dinoflagellates - They are a ,,tricky alge,, that can appear sometimes in our reef tanks and it’s kinda hard to get rid of. Google them and u will find lots of vids and pictures
I want see more of your nems tank
Check me out on instagram,,reef under the roof'' for more vids/pics or check out my last vid. ✌️
Already check it,cool tank
Why dont you show the front of the tank?
That’s an old video. I have few vids of the tank on my other vids and on my instagram as well
This is one of those videos with so many misinformation that is socking, hope you are doing well in the hobby but thanks for sharing
Lol, thanks for watching! Feel free to show me your nems and your results ✌️
Why not mix nems?
I have been asking the same question before I tried mixing. It seems to be some tipe of bacterial warfare between nems. I think it’s a bacterial thing since UV and ciprofloxacin are the only things that help with it. I tried carbon in the past and it didn’t help at all. Some anemones do better then others when mixed, like different tipe rainbows do. But high end nems, like Chicago and Colorado do very poorly when mixed with others.
@@ReefUnderTheRoof wow didn’t know that. That’s actually disappointing. What about rainbow with a Colorado?
@@MADTrollsReefTanks Man, I wouldn’t try it. I had a rainbow and Chicago mixed in the past. They we’re doing ok, but colors where off.
I don't feed my nem's, I feed the tank with phytoplankton and brine shrimp
Mine grow faster when I feed them individually
Artemia?
🤔
This was the video that was very helpful for me if you haven't seen it give it a watch. ruclips.net/video/RUdiQcBjWK8/видео.html
I have watched it. Thanks!
A NEM O NE
Secondly i have better success when i don't feed solid foods...
Nems are not so picky with food, as long as it’s not to big, or else they will spit it out.
@@ReefUnderTheRoof True, I gave a friend one and he neglects it in my opinion now he has about 50. Im planning on setting up a 220, 48x36 in a few months i want to go low maintenance. Low as posssible tempreture.
Is that a Moorish Idol swimming around in there?
No, but it’s a great replacement for it. This is a heniochus butterfly 🦋
@@ReefUnderTheRoof It's a banner fish
“This tank is easier than fresh water”. Has moorish idol in a nano filled with nems
It’s a longfin banner fish not a moorish idol. Way more easier to keep! Tank is 40gal aio
That’s not a idol 🤣 know your fish buddy
🤔
